Heyue punched him on the shoulder and complained, "Why did you come here so early instead of staying with Father Emperor? This is dereliction of duty. Be careful, Father Emperor will scold you!"
Thirteen clutched his shoulder, let out an exaggerated "ouch," and pulled her down onto the couch, pinning her beneath him. He said with a voice full of grievance, "I haven't seen you all night. I'm about to go hunting, and I have to stay by Father Emperor's side. I won't see you for a while. And you, on the other hand, are in the mood to see Eighth Sister-in-law. You don't miss me at all."
"You saw it?" He Yue exclaimed in surprise, ignoring the discomfort caused by his armor.
Thirteen snorted, his face sour: "If I hadn't sent someone to look for you, you probably wouldn't have remembered me and would still be there chatting happily with others."
"Such a strong smell of vinegar!" He Yue laughed, her eyes full of mockery.
"Hmph, so what if I'm jealous? How are you going to comfort me?" Thirteen raised an eyebrow, making no attempt to hide his feelings, and even adopting an aggressive demeanor.
With a quick glance, He Yue wrapped her arms around his neck, planted a quick kiss on the corner of his mouth, and then tried to pull away.
A sly glint flashed in Thirteen's eyes. He suddenly tightened his embrace around her waist, deepening the kiss.
Fifteen minutes later, Thirteen released her, stroked her soft hair, and looked at her charming eyes, the delicate and alluring shimmer in her pupils, and her moist and red lips. He was completely captivated by her beauty.
Heyue nudged him, panting and coquettishly asking, "Aren't you leaving yet?"
"I can't bear to part with you, I want to be with you every moment." Thirteen kissed her ear again and sighed with lingering affection.
"What kind of talk is this, if people see us like this in broad daylight? Do you want to commit adultery in broad daylight?" Heyue didn't care and pushed him hard.
She still has a shame!
Thirteen reluctantly got up, muttering in dissatisfaction, "I'd like to indulge in debauchery in broad daylight." Seeing her displeasure, he quickly changed his words and carefully instructed, "Alright, alright, I'll leave now. You stay put and don't wander off, understand?"
Seeing her nod, he left feeling refreshed.
Heyue stroked her bright red lips with her fingers, chuckled, lay down on the couch covered with a wool blanket, closed her eyes and rested for a while, then suddenly her expression changed and she sat up abruptly.
Thinking back to what Thirteen had just said, something just didn't sound right.
In the past, Thirteen knew she couldn't stay still, so he never said anything to stop her from running around. She wasn't some weak woman who couldn't even kill a chicken, so there wouldn't be any danger for her even if she went out.
When I first heard his words, I thought he was just saying it casually, or that he was unwilling to see his sister-in-law. But now that I think about it, something feels off.
Although Thirteen spoke with ease, there was a hidden worry in his eyes, as if he was hiding something from me.
Could it be the Crown Prince? Did that incident happen ahead of schedule? After thinking about it, I realized it was impossible.
If something really happened, Thirteen wouldn't be in the mood for flirting with me.
He Yue got up and went outside, gazing at the bright yellow procession heading towards the hunting grounds in the distance, with several people dressed in Mongolian attire following beside the emperor.
She breathed a slight sigh of relief. Perhaps she had been overthinking it. What could possibly happen under such circumstances? As long as the Crown Prince didn't make any major moves, there was nothing to worry about.
The next few days were indeed peaceful, nothing happened, and Thirteen would occasionally come to see Heyue and talk to her for a while, but most of the time he stayed by the Emperor's side.
He Yue finally felt completely relieved and was in the mood to go horseback riding.
He completely disregarded Thirteen's initial instructions.
The men would ride horses to hunt or discuss serious matters with the Mongols, while Heyue and the other women would go horseback riding together.
Besides the Crown Prince, those who came with him included Prince Zhi, Prince Lian, the Thirteenth Prince, and the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Princes. The female relatives included He Yue, the First Princess Consort, the Eighth Princess Consort, and the Crown Prince's two concubines.
Aside from the fact that the Crown Prince's two concubines were not of high enough status, Heyue often went to the grasslands with the First and Eighth Princes' wives to ride horses and hunt rabbits, and occasionally they would encounter a few Mongolian princesses.
Today, Heyue shot a rabbit and smiled happily, ordering the guards who were with her to retrieve the rabbit.
Just as they were idly admiring the scenery around them, suddenly a Mongolian princess startled her horse from the left, let out a cry, and charged straight at Heyue, horse and all.
Because they were so close, Heyue couldn't dodge in time, and the horse beneath her was also startled, causing her to fall off the horse with its head thrown back.
Fortunately, the guard returned in time, caught Heyue, and rolled her around to prevent her from hitting her head and back on the ground.
However, when Heyue stood up, she still twisted her ankle, and the pain made her face change and she gasped for breath.
I sighed inwardly, thinking how unlucky I was!
With the protection of those around her, the Mongolian princess managed to control the frightened horse. She jumped off its back, her face flushed with anger, and drew a sword from the waist of one of her Mongolian guards, stabbing it into the horse's body.
The horse neighed and collapsed in agony, dying shortly afterward.
"Hmph! I treated it so well, and it betrayed me!" After scolding it, the Mongolian princess turned to look at Heyue, but raised her chin and curled her lips: "My horse got spooked, it wasn't my fault for bumping into you. Since you're alright, I don't think I need to apologize!"
Having said that, he leaped onto a Mongolian guard's horse and sped away.
Heyue frowned; these Mongolian princesses were all incredibly arrogant.
The previous Qiqige was one, and this one is another.
He glanced at the dead horse again, sighed, and thought, "What a pity for such a fine horse."
After all, she was a Mongolian princess. Even though she was angry, Heyue couldn't pursue the matter of the other party's rudeness, so she had to let it go.
Fortunately, the foot injury wasn't serious and should heal in about two days.
Just as she was about to return, the Eighth Prince's wife rode up to her. Seeing her like this, she hurriedly dismounted and came over to help her, her face extremely pale: "What happened?"
