Chapter 326 Never Again

When I woke up at dusk, the first thing I saw was Thirteen.

Heyue turned her head away, not wanting to look at him. Thirteen felt guilty and took her hand, apologizing softly, "Heyue, I know I was wrong. Please don't be angry anymore, okay? I will never dare to do it again."

Seeing that she still ignored him, he leaned down and pressed his face against hers, murmuring, "I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have done this. I just didn't want to see you continue like this. Eighth Sister-in-law is not an easy person to deal with. You trusted her too much, so I had no choice but to resort to this tactic."

"Then you can't joke with your own life! I warned you, have you forgotten?" He Yue's face was filled with anger.

He Yue was angry that he had lied to her, but she was even angrier that he had repeatedly disregarded her life.

He almost died, he almost lost his life. Did he even know that?

Thirteen's eyes darted away, her face slightly flushed, but she muttered in dissatisfaction, her words full of sourness: "If you hadn't done this, would you have been determined to have a falling out with Eighth Sister-in-law?"

He Yue reached out and pinched his ear, saying, "How dare you say that!"

Thirteen frowned, not daring to dodge, and pitifully begged, "Good Heyue, please forgive me this time, okay? I swear I will never do it again."

"I don't believe your nonsense!" He Yue refused to believe it and angrily tightened her grip even more.

Thirteen's face turned pale with pain as he covered his ear, which had been pulled, and complained, "You're already like this, how could I bear to lie to you anymore?"

Upon hearing this, He Yue released her grip on his ear. Seeing him covering his ear and not daring to utter a sound, her anger subsided somewhat.

"Besides this, what else did you lie to me about?" Heyue asked irritably.

Thirteen waved his hands repeatedly: "No more, no more." He hugged her tightly and explained softly: "Actually, I had no choice. If I hadn't heard about their plan beforehand, I'm afraid I would have been beheaded long ago. If I hadn't chosen to play along, they would have had other ways to frame me, making it even more difficult to guard against. How could I bear to leave you alone?"

I deliberately veered off course to save my life, and also to let you see Eighth Sister-in-law's true colors so you wouldn't be deceived by her anymore. But I didn't expect her to scheme against you, causing you to be injured.

At this point, I felt even more guilty.

Heyue understood. Her sister had drugged Princess Nuomin's horse, causing it to go berserk and injure itself, simply because she didn't want to be there to stop it from happening.

To be able to calculate so accurately that the horse would collide with Heyue, and not someone else, suggests that my sister was with Princess Nuomin at the time, and secretly drugged her before leaving.

But she chose to watch the horse charge towards Heyue without batting an eye, a calculation that broke Heyue's heart. Was she really so sure that nothing would happen to her?

Sometimes she cares so much about me, but other times she can disregard her own life.

Was it for Prince Lian's sake that she was willing to sacrifice her own younger sister?

Only then did Heyue understand her sister's feelings. It seemed that in her sister's heart, Prince Lian was more important than her, his younger sister.

Although she was unwilling to admit it, she couldn't deny it; how could she not feel jealous and heartbroken?

She also realized why her sister was so accommodating to Princess Nuomin; it was probably because Nuomin knew about her sister drugging the horse and was using it to threaten her.

What Princess Nuoming said at that time was very clear.

The elder sister had planned everything, but she hadn't anticipated that Thirteen already knew about her plan.

He Yue could understand what Thirteen had done, but she couldn't easily forgive him.

She hated being schemed against, especially by those close to her. Her sister's repeated schemes had already chilled her heart. If Thirteen also schemed against her, who could she trust?

Thinking of this, I couldn't help but feel a deep sadness. I'm afraid my sister will never forgive her again; she's only thirteen years old now.

She pressed her cheek against his shoulder and whispered, "This is the last time. I don't want you to lie to me about anything again. I can forgive this time, but if there's a next time," she closed her eyes, then opened them again, her eyes filled with determination, "I will never forgive you. You should know that I mean what I say."

Thirteen hugged her tighter and nodded vigorously: "Don't worry, it won't happen again, it won't happen again."

After all, he genuinely liked her, and he had done so many impossible things for her. He Yue believed that his love for her was real and was willing to believe him one more time.

Heyue was always in good health and rarely got sick. This time, she suddenly fell ill, which even alarmed Emperor Kangxi, who sent someone to deliver some tonics and asked her a few words of concern.

After all, Thirteen had just been injured and sick, and then Heyue fell ill as well. To outsiders, it was just that Heyue had been exhausted from taking care of Thirteen these past few days.

Emperor Kangxi also instructed the Thirteenth Prince to spend quality time with Heyue and help her recover her health.

Others might not understand the meaning of taking good care of one's health, but Heyue and Shisan understood it perfectly.

Kangxi's words were somewhat of a complaint that Heyue's body was too frail. She had only taken care of a patient and had already fallen ill. How would she be able to have children in the future?

Heyue was helpless, but Shisan was enjoying it and became more and more considerate towards Heyue.

Everything calmed down after that. Heyue believed that her sister would keep her word this time and wouldn't take Thirteen's life again. Although she had done some things to hurt Heyue, it wasn't enough to actually kill her.

Even though it was a small matter, one still happened.

One evening, Emperor Kangxi hosted a banquet for Prince Darhan. Since the Thirteenth Prince's injuries had mostly healed, Heyue and the Thirteenth Prince were also present.

As the wine flowed for several rounds, Emperor Kangxi was having a lively conversation with Prince Darhan when Princess Nuomin appeared and performed a horse-riding dance. Dressed in red, her enthusiasm and flamboyance drew enthusiastic applause and exclamations of admiration.

Afterwards, Princess Nuomin gave Emperor Kangxi a standard Mongolian salute and sat back down in her seat with a radiant smile.

At this moment, Prince Lian, Yinzhi, stood up, toasted Prince Darhan with a cup of wine, and smiled gently: "I have long heard that Prince Darhan's daughter, Princess Nuomin, is as beautiful as a flower. Seeing her today, I can confirm it is true."

Prince Darhan smiled smugly and stood up to reply, "Prince Lian, you flatter me."

After offering a toast and sitting down, Nuomin also stood up to return the toast, winking playfully with a rather intimate expression: "Thank you for your praise, Prince Lian. Nuomin toasts you, Prince Lian."

After saying that, he readily downed the drink in one gulp.

Prince Lian smiled and drank it as well.

The Crown Prince and Prince Zhi smiled meaningfully. It was rare for the eighth brother to praise a woman, especially with such a familiar attitude.

I wonder if this beautiful flower will be able to enter the Prince Lian's mansion.

Heyue glanced at the Eighth Prince's wife and saw that she looked perfectly normal and not displeased, so she frowned in surprise.

After Nuomin sat down, Prince Lian turned to Emperor Kangxi and said, "Father, I think Princess Nuomin and my thirteenth brother are a very good match. How about we betroth Princess Nuomin and my thirteenth brother?"

The room fell silent upon hearing this.

Thirteen's handsome face immediately darkened, and he glared angrily at Prince Lian, his hand holding the teacup almost crushing it.

Because of his injury, Thirteen could only drink tea instead of wine.

He Yue was also taken aback. She subconsciously looked at the Eighth Prince's wife beside Prince Lian, but saw that the other party did not even glance at them, with a faint smile on her lips, showing no surprise whatsoever.
