Chapter 353 Reunion

Heyue was truly afraid, afraid that the Eighth Prince's wife would really attack the Thirteenth Prince again.

She wasn't sure if the Eighth Prince's wife was behind this, but in any case, she was determined to prevent such things from happening again.

He Yue's big eyes shone with earnestness as she stared at him intently, grasping his arms with both hands: "Fourth Brother, you love Thirteen the most, please help him, I'm really afraid something will happen to him again."

Prince Yong turned his face away, unmoved, his expression cold: "Father will not allow it. You can stay here in peace. Thirteen will be fine."

"Fourth Brother!" He Yue exclaimed in surprise when she saw him get up to leave.

Prince Yong glanced at her coldly: "There's no need to discuss this matter further. Remember your place; there are some things you have no right to interfere in."

He Yue was speechless, having never seen him so indifferent before.

After Prince Yong left and the door closed again, He Yue slumped into a chair, sighing repeatedly.

It seems that asking Fourth Brother for help won't work, and it's only made him angry. It's really not worth it.

Thirteen waited in the mansion for a long time before finally seeing his fourth brother. He hurried to greet him and asked, "Fourth brother, how is Heyue?"

"She's perfectly fine. You should take care of yourself." Prince Yong frowned slightly and snorted when he saw his impatient look.

Thirteen was relieved; Fourth Brother said that if nothing was wrong, then nothing was wrong.

"Thank you, Fourth Brother. I know she won't be bullied, but I'm worried about her being there alone. She's never suffered such injustice before." Thirteen sat down, frowning and sighing.

"She seems to be in good spirits, but she's worried about you and the child. However, I didn't tell her the truth," Prince Yong said calmly.

"Whether I tell her or not, she'll find out when she gets out. She's always worried about me and tried everything to help me, yet I've ended up like this." Thirteen smiled bitterly, looking heartbroken. "I don't understand. Everything was fine, so why is Father Emperor suddenly treating me like this? Does Father Emperor really believe I have any ulterior motives?"

Prince Yong shook his head: "Father Emperor ultimately believes in you, otherwise you wouldn't just be confined to the manor. In the current situation, it's safer for you to stay in the manor. Once things have calmed down, I will ask Father Emperor to release you."

"I don't want to ask for anything else now. Father Emperor dotes on the Crown Prince the most, but he still deposed him without hesitation. What about me? I just want Yue to come out safely, so that our family can be together and live well. That's enough." Thirteen shook his head, his expression indifferent, but his tone was tinged with melancholy.

Seeing his dejected appearance, Prince Yong's anger suddenly flared up, and he sternly rebuked him: "Where did your former drive go? How can you be the same fearless thirteenth prince you used to be? Has such a small setback defeated you?"

"Fourth Brother, I..." Thirteen was stunned. Looking at his excited appearance, he stammered and couldn't speak. He lowered his head in guilt.

Prince Yong suddenly stood up, his tone cold: "If you are still my fourth brother's thirteenth brother, then just wait and see. I will risk my life to help you get out of here. I will never let you be buried like this."

He took a step to leave, but when he reached the door, he suddenly stopped, turned back to look at Thirteen, his eyes deep and unfathomable.

"Heyue said she begged Father Emperor to let you leave the capital. Are you willing?"

Thirteen stared blankly into Fourth Brother's calm eyes. After a long while, he lowered his eyelids and gave a bitter smile: "Fourth Brother, to be honest, I don't want to be a coward who only runs away when faced with setbacks. I would despise myself if I did that. But Heyue has gone to great lengths for me, and I am moved and can't bear to disappoint her."

I hesitated, wanting to give in to her wishes, but I couldn't get past my own conscience. I wanted to be a good husband and a good father, someone who could support her and our children, not someone who could only be protected by her when things went wrong, causing her to suffer so much because of me.

At first, Prince Yong breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing his answer, but he was stunned when he heard the rest. After Thirteen finished speaking, Prince Yong remained silent for a long time.

After an unknown amount of time, Prince Yong's tense face relaxed slightly, and he sighed softly: "I understand what you mean. I was selfish. Perhaps she is right."

Thirteen, confused, asked, "Fourth Brother, what did you say?"

Prince Yong shook his head, without explaining further: "Don't worry, Heyue will be out soon. As for the rest, your fourth brother will make plans for you. But there's something your fourth brother wants to tell you: many things can't be done just for the present. The future situation is the most important."

At that moment, Thirteen suddenly noticed that Fourth Brother seemed to be radiating a kind of firm light, his eyes shining brightly, making him unconsciously want to submit, and his confidence was rekindled.

After being detained for half a month, Heyue was finally released and returned home. The moment she saw the light of day again, Heyue breathed a sigh of relief.

She was feeling suffocated these days. Even though she was treated to good food and drink, she couldn't go anywhere and could only stay in that room. She couldn't even take a bath.

She smelled bad.

Upon returning to the manor, Heyue immediately stopped Hailan Chunya and Sizhi from weeping with joy. Forgetting about reuniting with Thirteen, she hurriedly ordered people to bring water for a bath.

From the moment she returned, Heyue noticed that the mansion was much quieter than before. The servants were not as cheerful as before, and they were all silent and dejected.

She knew exactly what was going on; even though her fourth brother hadn't explained it clearly at the time, Heyue had guessed some of it.

Thirteen was confined to his home and was no longer as favored as before. The servants were all on edge, afraid that they would be implicated. Many servants who had come from outside the mansion had already asked for leave to go home.

Most of those who remained in the mansion were either sent by the Imperial Household Department or were loyal to Thirteen and Heyue.

When Thirteen rushed over from the front, he happened to catch Heyue taking a bath. He was so excited that he couldn't calm down and just wanted to see Heyue as soon as possible to make sure that she was alright.

With a wave to shoo away the maid, Thirteen quietly pushed open the door and tiptoed inside, passing by the sandalwood carved and embroidered begonia screen.

These past few days, Heyue had been thinking about Thirteen and the child, and hadn't been sleeping well. Finally back home, she soaked in the warm water, her pores opening up, and she comfortably closed her eyes, quickly drifting off to sleep. Of course, she didn't even notice someone coming in.

Thirteen looked at her sleeping soundly. She looked thinner and more haggard, with dark circles under her eyes. Only her lips remained as delicate as flower petals.

Her skin was as white and tender as snow, and her beauty was alluring. Her long, black hair hung smoothly outside the bathtub. This sight stunned Thirteen, and she couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

He carried her out, carefully placed her on the bed, wiped her body clean, covered her with a blanket, and then Thirteen took off his robe and boots, got into bed, and pulled Heyue into his arms.

Inhaling the faint scent of roses emanating from her, my long-tense heart quietly relaxed, and I slowly closed my eyes.

He Yue felt the long-lost warmth and subconsciously snuggled into his arms, hugging his strong waist, and fell into a deeper sleep.

So when Heyue opened her eyes, she saw that it was already late and Thirteen was lying facing her.

I haven't seen him for half a month. His face looks thinner, and he hasn't shaved his beard. He looks haggard.
