Chapter 484 Self-Immolation

"Sister." Heyue held her hand tightly, burying her face in her knees. "Sister, it took me so long to find you. You have to take good care of yourself, okay? I'll come to see you again."

Don't let it fade away like history; I can't bear to lose you again.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. I won't do anything foolish. Being alive is better than anything else. At least I can still think of him."

Hearing her words, Yuefang breathed a sigh of relief. What she feared most was that her sister would really follow Yunsi.

Then what is the point of her coming into this world?

Heyue still left.

Guo Luoshi stood at the door watching Heyue leave, a gentle and reassuring smile on her face.

Heyue kept turning back, reluctant to part.

Once inside the carriage returning home, Heyue leaned against the side of the carriage, feeling her heart pounding as if something was about to happen.

And so they returned to Prince Yi's residence. He Yue dismissed the servants and stared blankly at the scenery outside.

After sitting for an hour, He Yue finally came to her senses and felt a headache, so she went back to her dormitory to rest.

Suddenly, Hailan rushed in, crying out, "Madam, something terrible has happened!"

"What is it?" He Yue's heart skipped a beat, and she asked anxiously.

Since returning, Heyue had felt uneasy, and hearing Hailan's shout only intensified her anxiety.

Hailan rushed in, clutching her chest, panting, "Eighth Prince's wife is gone!"

He Yue was jolted, suddenly grabbed her collar, her eyes wide with fury: "What did you say?"

Seeing Heyue's terrifying appearance, Hailan subconsciously swallowed and replied tremblingly, "Not long after the Princess Consort returned, the Eighth Prince's wife set herself on fire! Now the news has spread far and wide!"

Heyue swayed slightly, but Hailan caught her: "Madam!"

"Prepare the carriage!" He Yue gritted her teeth.

Upon arriving at the Duke of Fuguo's residence, one could see thick smoke filling half the sky from afar.

Heyue hurried to Guoluo's courtyard and saw the house engulfed in flames; Guoluo was nowhere to be seen.

The servants were busy fetching water to put out the fire, and there was chaos.

When Xi Gui and the two Ma Jia clans came to pay their respects, He Yue didn't even glance at them and was about to rush in when Hai Lan grabbed her and said, "Fu Jin, you mustn't!"

"Let me go!" He Yue was anxious and tried to break free, but Hai Lan was very strong and He Yue couldn't break free for a while.

Watching the flames soar into the sky and linger for a long time, He Yuexin slowly sank to the bottom of the valley.

Sister, didn't you say you were going to live a good life? Why has it turned out like this in the blink of an eye?

Why do you break your promise?

What am I supposed to do? How can I forgive myself?

Thirteen rushed over and, seeing the scene, hurriedly hugged Heyue, saying, "Heyue, calm down! The fire is so big, and people are already gone. Don't hold on any longer!"

Heyue turned her head and slapped Thirteen across the face, leaving a clear finger mark.

"You're lying! It was you! It was Yongzheng! You're the ones who drove her to her death! Give me back my sister! Give me back my sister!"

He Yue went mad and started shoving and punching Thirteen.

Thirteen covered Heyue's mouth to prevent her from saying anything more nonsense.

Seeing her face streaked with tears and filled with hatred, Thirteen felt a pang of heartache. Seeing that she was struggling so fiercely, Thirteen had no choice but to knock her unconscious.

Thirteen picked up the unconscious Heyue, his heart aching, and left immediately, returning to Prince Yi's residence.

...

He Yue remained unconscious for a day and a night.

She fell ill when she woke up the next day and couldn't see anyone, not even Thirteen and the child.

Thirteen paced anxiously outside, feeling fearful and uneasy.

When Guo Luoluo set herself on fire, Thirteen knew something was wrong. Seeing Heyue's crazy state at the time, Thirteen was completely at a loss.

She had been eagerly awaiting Heyue's awakening, but Heyue immediately kicked her out and refused to even see her.

Thirteen understood that Heyue blamed herself and the Emperor.

Heyue kept saying that the emperor was untrustworthy and that she would not stop the emperor's orders.

He said that this matter had nothing to do with the emperor, and that it was Lady Guoluo who committed suicide. He Yue refused to believe it, insisting that it was because the emperor could not tolerate Lady Guoluo.

Thirteen had something on his mind but couldn't express it.

Tong Hui and Tong Xuan, who had both married, came back to see He Yue. Tong Ya also left the palace and returned to Prince Yi's residence, but they were all locked out.

Two days later, Emperor Yongzheng personally visited Prince Yi's residence to see Heyue, but Heyue remained indoors.

Yongzheng's face darkened: "Your wife is becoming increasingly absurd! How can she lose her composure for the sake of a mere criminal woman? What is there to think?"

Thirteen spoke up for Heyue: "Your Majesty, Heyue is just too heartbroken, please don't blame her."

"Heartbroken? Who is she heartbroken for?" Yongzheng coldly snorted: "What does Lady Guoluo have to do with her? It's good that she's ill; let her stay in her residence and reflect on her mistakes these days!"

After saying this, Yongzheng immediately set off back to the palace.

Thirteen smiled bitterly.

For several days, Thirteen stood guard at the main door, comforting and persuading Heyue, saying that it was indeed Guoluo's suicide, and that she should think more positively and not make a foolish mistake.

If the food delivered to the door hadn't been brought out empty, Thirteen would have already barged in.

It was clear that Heyue simply didn't want to see him, but she could still eat, which was somewhat comforting to Thirteen.

He Yue would naturally not go against her own body.

She has children; she can't just leave them behind and die like that.

So Yue ate all the food that the servants brought in.

She had thought a lot these days. Perhaps her sister had long been determined to die. Given her sister's feelings for Yunsi, how could she possibly live on alone?
