"Do I look like the kind of person who doesn't keep their word?" He Yue couldn't help but roll her eyes, her tone becoming a bit sharp.
The Thirteenth Prince couldn't help but complain aggrievedly, "Who told you to be so fierce before? I can't compliment your habit of getting angry so easily."
He Yue gritted her teeth in anger, wishing she could punch him for daring to speak to her like that. Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she smiled and asked, "Really?"
Step forward and, taking him by surprise, stomp hard on the back of his foot.
The Thirteenth Prince hissed, took a step back, raised his injured foot, and glared at her angrily: "How could you do this?"
"What did I do wrong? Who told you to be so sharp-tongued?" Heyue glared back defiantly.
The Thirteenth Prince was speechless, his momentum weakened, and he pouted aggrievedly: "You said you wouldn't be angry, why did you go back on your word?"
"That depends on your own performance. You're just asking for trouble," He Yue sneered.
"In the end, you came to see me today because of your sixth sister. I even got beaten up by the fourteenth brother because of your sixth sister, and you don't care about me at all. You're always bullying me." The thirteenth prince blinked his watery eyes and complained pitifully, like a wronged little wife.
Seeing his aggrieved appearance, He Yue felt a chill and couldn't help but frown: "Come on, he hit you, why didn't you hit back? I think you deserved to be hit!"
"You!" the Thirteenth Prince exclaimed angrily.
"What do you mean, 'me'? You can't beat someone, yet you're complaining. Isn't that cowardice?" He Yue raised her eyebrows and retorted without any politeness.
“Who can’t beat him? I, I am…” The Thirteenth Prince said half of it, his face red and his neck thick, but he didn’t finish. His expression was dejected and aggrieved, and his head hung down.
Sensing something was amiss, He Yuewei was somewhat surprised, only to hear him mutter to himself, "You know nothing, so what gives you the right to say that?"
Having said that, he ignored him and walked toward the main room. On impulse, He Yue subconsciously grabbed his sleeve.
The thirteenth prince paused, looked down in surprise at the small hand holding his, and was slightly taken aback.
He Yue opened his mouth, unsure of what to say. After all, he was only twelve or thirteen years old and still had basic self-esteem. Had what he said hurt him?
Seeing his demeanor just now, it seemed there was something else going on.
Thinking of this, her tone softened, and she said softly, "Alright, it was my fault. I shouldn't have spoken like that. If you're angry, you can always ask Fourteenth Master to fight back. I used to fight back like that whenever someone bullied me, and then no one dared to bully me anymore."
The thirteenth prince's eyes lit up, his previous dejection vanished, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
"But sometimes even if I'm bullied, I can't fight back. Like when you hit me, am I supposed to hit you back? Not to mention it's not fair to win, how can I fight a little girl like you?"
He complained in a low voice, but his eyes were bright and teasing.
He Yue regretted advising him earlier; she felt she was getting her comeuppance. Her cheeks flushed red.
It was as if she was taking advantage of her status as a woman to bully him.
"Alright, alright, I'm not talking to you anymore, I'm going back." He Yue was too lazy to argue with him, so she walked past him and ran back.
She was pondering his words. Although they were said in a teasing tone, based on his dejected expression and the unfinished sentence, He Yue could guess what he meant.
The Fourteenth Prince was, after all, Consort De's most beloved son, and the Thirteenth Prince had grown up by Consort De's side. Some things were destined not to go as they pleased, and even if they were bullied, they could only swallow it.
For some reason, He Yue felt a pang of sympathy for him.
But in an instant, He Yue realized what she was thinking and couldn't help but scold herself for being so soft-hearted. Was this really her?
Could it be that as you get younger, your heart has become softer?
Not long after they returned to the main room, the Thirteenth Prince also returned.
Seeing the two men's cheerful expressions, the Fourth Prince and his wife knew the problem was solved and were also happy.
As it was getting late, Heyue had her meal there.
After the meal, Heyue bid farewell to the Fourth Prince and his wife, but the Fourth Prince suddenly called her back.
He Yue paused, looking at him with a puzzled expression.
The Fourth Prince summoned his personal servant, Su Peisheng, and said, "Bring the things here."
Su Peisheng sighed and stepped back.
Looking at the Fourth Prince like this, He Yue was very curious. What did he have to give her?
When Su Peisheng came in again, He Yue's eyes lit up when she saw the fluffy, snow-white little thing he was holding in his arms.
"This is for you." The Fourth Prince saw the light in her eyes and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
He Yue was flattered and accepted the puppy from Su Peisheng. The puppy had snow-white fur all over its body, like a snowball. It tilted its head back, looked at her with its round eyes, whimpered a few times, and stuck out its tongue to lick the back of her hand. It was extremely cute.
Although Heyue has a boyish personality, she also has a girl's nature and loves these fluffy and cute little animals.
He Yue's eyes curved into crescent moons: "Thank you, Fourth Master."
At this moment, Heyue's eyes inexplicably welled up with tears. She really didn't expect that someone would treat her so well. Even though they were not related by blood, he was like an older brother to her, just like her older sister back then.
Although it was just a very small thing, it made her feel the warmth of family.
After bidding farewell to the Fourth Prince and his wife, Heyue boarded the carriage to return to her residence. As it was getting late, the Fourth Prince sent a personal servant to escort her back.
Upon arriving at the gate of the mansion, Yu Ying took out one tael of silver from her purse and gave it to the servant. She thanked him with a smile, and the servant repeatedly said that he dared not accept it, and rode back.
