Chapter 49: Heartbroken
Liu Chunhua didn't get up until it was time to set off.
She was about to leave empty-handed, but Liang Yuanshan stuffed a basket of paper money into her arms.
Liu Chunhua thought it was unlucky and didn't want to take it.
Seeing that Liang Huanxue also had empty hands, he stuffed the basket into Liang Huanxue's hands and said, "Xue'er, my hands hurt. You hold it."
Seeing that she was bullying her daughter, Shen Yuefu said nothing and reached out to take the basket to herself.
"Mom, just let me hold it." Liang Huanxue didn't think the basket was heavy, nor did she think the paper money inside was unlucky, so she just carried it and walked forward.
Liang Wenxuan came back specially and brought sacrificial supplies bought by Liang Jialin and Liang Jiaxing.
"Such a big thing happened, but they didn't come back. Lian Heyang has also come back. They can't even pass the provincial examination, and I don't know what we spend so much money on them!" Liu Chunhua saw that Liang Jialin and Liang Jiaxing didn't come back, and she was acting weird again.
Wang Xifen wanted to argue with her, but was stopped by Nian Huayue.
He also advised, "Second sister-in-law, don't be impulsive. Let her talk if she wants to. If no one pays attention to her, she will find it boring. The more you argue with her, the more she will not stop."
"You're a boaster. Wait till you pass the exam before you tell me!" Liu Chunhua had very sharp ears. She could hear what her two sisters-in-law whispered in her ears.
He also looked disdainful.
Nian Huayue and Wang Xifen simply quickened their pace and walked to the front of the team.
The shed was set up on the back hill, not too far from the Liang family's home. It took about an incense stick of time to get there.
Old Mrs. Liang looked at the tablet placed in the shed, her eyes slightly red.
But there is still a smile on the corner of his mouth.
"Xue'er, come here quickly!" she called out to Liang Huanxue.
Liang Huanxue stumbled over with a basket on her shoulder and almost fell.
Old Lady Liang grabbed her and straightened the tilted basket, "Be careful!"
She knew that the basket was originally given to Liu Chunhua by Liang Yuanshan, but was forced into Liang Huanxue's hands by Liu Chunhua.
I am so lazy that I don't even want to do such a small thing.
Old Mrs. Liang felt distressed when she saw the marks on Liang Huanxue's arm.
"Next time she puts something in your hand, don't take it."
"You don't want money either?"
Old Lady Liang was amused by her question. "Of course you have to take the money. But you also have to be able to take the money from her."
Speaking of money, Liang Huanxue suddenly remembered the wallet that Liu Chunhua had hidden in the closet.
She already knew the origin of the silver and was just waiting for an opportunity to tell the truth.
Preparations for the sacrifice were completed quickly. Unlike previous years when the atmosphere was gloomy, this year the atmosphere was much more relaxed because of the smile on Mrs. Liang’s face.
Soon, the memorial service was over.
Everyone left, leaving only Old Lady Liang in the shed, reminiscing about the past with her husband.
"Xue'er, you should stay too."
Liang Huanxue was just planning to pick some wild vegetables on the way back to feed the chickens when she heard Old Lady Liang calling her.
She turned around and went back into the shed, sitting quietly next to Old Lady Liang.
After a while, Mrs. Liang finally said, "Xue'er, thank you."
"Grandma, why are you saying thank you to me?" Liang Huanxue looked at her with a pair of watery eyes that would please anyone who saw them.
"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to see him and talk to him so much." As Mrs. Liang was speaking, a breeze suddenly blew over.
It's like someone's gentle hand, making people feel warm inside.
"Grandma, you should know that it is..."
It's fake. It's an illusion caused by eating mushrooms. It's not something I really saw.
Liang Huanxue felt that it was too cruel to say it so bluntly.
She wanted to put it mildly.
But Mrs. Liang smiled and said, "I know it's fake. But to me, it's real."
Liang Huanxue was stunned.
It turns out her grandmother knew very well that it was fake.
But what if it’s fake?
Just fool yourself.
"Grandma, that mushroom is poisonous. You can only eat it this time." Liang Huanxue was worried that her grandma would want to eat the mushroom again.
But Mrs. Liang said, "Don't worry, I only need to fool myself this time. Once is enough."
She has never been a greedy person.
For her, that was enough.
Liang Huanxue snuggled in her arms and stayed with her until sunset before going into the house.
When I got home, the meal was ready.
"Grandma and Xue'er are back!" Liang Jiayang was just about to call them back when he saw them coming back from a distance and hurriedly told his family.
The dishes were quickly set.
Old Mrs. Liang took Liang Huanxue to wash their hands. Before they sat down, Liu Chunhua had already picked up the chopsticks.
Liang Jiayang couldn't bear to see this, so he gently tugged at his mother's sleeve, "Mom, grandma hasn't even started eating yet!"
"If I hadn't been waiting for them, I would have started eating long ago. I'm starving!" Liu Chunhua said this but still put down her chopsticks obediently.
Old Lady Liang put a piece of meat into Liang Huanxue's bowl, and put another piece for Liang Jiayang, and asked, "How are you doing in the academy? If you need money, you must tell me. Look how thin you have become!"
"Grandma, I..." Liang Jiayang wanted to say that he was not short of money, but before he could finish his words, he felt someone stepped on him under the table.
His mother was sitting next to him, so it was easy to tell who stepped on him.
"Mom, you know how hard life is in the academy. Heyang is a taciturn person who keeps everything to himself. Look at him, he has become so thin that he looks like a nobody!"
Liu Chunhua naturally would not miss such a good opportunity.
"Aunt, didn't Brother Weijiang sell the blind bear he caught for about 100 taels? You only gave me 60 taels, didn't you? Aren't the rest with you?"
Liang Huanxue knew that the money in her small treasury was the money she secretly embezzled from selling the blind bear.
I was originally thinking of using fluorescent grass, but since Liu Chunhua took the initiative to mention money, don't blame her for being rude and just saying it directly.
"You...what are you talking about? That blind bear only sold it for sixty taels of silver! There's even a receipt!" Liu Chunhua didn't expect Liang Huanxue to know how much the blind bear sold it for.
However, in order to be able to embezzle the money, she specifically asked the person who bought the blind bear to keep a receipt.
There is only sixty taels on the receipt.
"That blind bear should be able to sell for at least 150 taels. Selling it for 100 taels would be a big loss. How come it only sold for 60 taels?"
Since Liang Yuanwang gave all the credit to Liang Weijiang, he never asked about the blind bear again.
But now, when he heard that the blind bear had only sold it for sixty taels, he felt deeply distressed.
If it's true, then I've lost over a hundred taels of silver!
"This... is so valuable?" Liu Chunhua was angry and annoyed, but she didn't dare to show it.
I was secretly thinking about how to settle the score with that person.
