Chapter 78
Xu Yirou's test results are in.
Xu Qingyan held the medical report and sat on the office sofa in the laboratory building, her face as calm as ever, revealing no emotion.
"...We tested Rou Rou's hair, saliva, and urine samples, and all his vital signs were normal; he is in a very healthy state."
"Aside from the blood abnormalities, no underlying diseases have been found so far."
After Yunlan finished speaking, she quietly waited for Xu Qingyan's response.
After a long while, Xu Qingyan carefully put the examination report back into the document bag, and raised his dark eyes slightly: "Aunt Yun, thank you for your hard work and your student. I will bring my mother for a check-up every two months from now on. You can continue to look for the reason why she is getting smaller."
“That’s natural.” After a moment of silence, Professor Yunlan finally spoke, “Ayan, if there is an opportunity, I would like to ask your mother to participate in our CAR-T project to help us overcome the difficulties.”
Xu Qingyan replied without a trace of emotion: "Aunt Yun, my mother is only four years old."
He didn't choose to respond directly, but Yunlan understood.
Upon hearing this, Professor Yunlan stopped probing. After exchanging a few more unimportant words, Xu Qingyan left.

After breakfast, He Nianzhu took Xu Yirou and Meimei Yangyang to Xiaoyue's house to play.
Little Moon was receiving a visit from a child for the first time, and she and her aunt cleaned the house spotlessly early in the morning.
Li Ranran held Li Erniu down and combed her hair until it was fluffy and shiny, trying to make a good impression.
However, in her excitement, Little Moon forgot to tell her sister that Mei Mei and Yang Yang would be coming to visit. The moment she opened the door, she bumped right into a huge dog head and two alpaca sisters wearing princess hats.
Husky & Alpaca: 0.0
"Awoooooo!"
Another frantic chase, leaping and bounding, left Li Ranran heartbroken and wiping away tears. "Waaaaah, my new sofa!"
After the two cubs played for a while, the sound of the door lock being opened came from the entrance hall.
Immediately afterwards, Xu Yirou met Xiaoyueliang's aunt, the very woman who had slammed the door and given Paopao a cold shoulder in Tongyu's dressing room.
Xu Yirou recognized her at a glance, but she acted as if it were their first meeting, warm and friendly, without showing any trace of cold arrogance or disdain.
This left Xu Yirou feeling confused, wondering if she had mistaken someone for someone else or if she had suddenly gained a new memory.
It wasn't until she was alone with Little Moon, who pulled her aside with a face full of shame and apologized, that she was certain she hadn't misremembered.
Why doesn't she apologize to me herself?
"She should apologize to Bubble again."
Xu Yirou usually acts so gentle and harmless that Xiaoyue was taken aback when she heard her ask such a question.
Little Moon didn't dare to tell her aunt everything she had said, and stammered out a weak explanation: "My aunt... she's a little shy, so she asked me to apologize to you on her behalf."
Xu Yirou immediately debunked the lie, her logic perfectly consistent: "That's a lie. She called me 'Sweetie Rou Rou' as soon as she arrived, and she was more enthusiastic than my eldest, second, and youngest children. She doesn't seem like a shy adult at all."
Little Moon was surprised, her face showing astonishment at how clever the child was.
In addition, her aunt had been calling her "chubby little darling" from the moment she entered the door, so there was no way to refute it.
Little Moon reluctantly gave up her plan to plead for her aunt.
"Neither Bubble nor I blame you, Yueyue."
Xu Yirou has always been very friendly and tolerant towards children: "We all like you and Ranran-jie."
The anxiety that had been lurking in Xiaoyue's heart for so long vanished like smoke because of her words.
Xu Yirou's sincerity deeply moved Xiaoyueliang; good friends should treat each other with honesty.
So, Little Moon took a deep breath and confided her troubles, which she had never told anyone before, to her best friend.
"Rourou, my parents passed away not long after I was born. I was raised by my older sister. Later, my sister was busy with work and flew all over the country."
“My sister is afraid that I will suffer if I stay with her, and she is also worried that if we hire a nanny, the nanny will mistreat me.”
"Then my aunt appeared. My aunt was very gentle with me. She praised me for being pretty and taught me how to earn money to ease my sister's burden."
"Being a child star is actually very tiring. You can't play with other children, and you can't eat sweet candies or delicious chicken legs..."
On the soft, huge down cushion, the little girl bent over, hugging her knees, her chin gently resting on her knees, her long, thick, curly eyelashes drooping, casting a faint shadow.
She spoke slowly and deliberately, but every word was sincere and heartfelt.
Xu Yirou felt increasingly uneasy as she listened. She couldn't eat KFC, she had to eat grass for every meal, and she had to eat a whole drawer full of colorful bottles and jars every day.
No wonder Little Moon's face is so small; although she's a head taller than her, she feels uncomfortable to hug.
Not chubby at all, turns out they haven't been eating properly.
Xu Yirou felt both sympathy and heartache, subconsciously regarding Xiaoyue as a child of the same generation as her daughter.
"Yueyue, come home with me, I'll fatten you up and you can eat whatever you want."
She kept something to herself: she felt that Little Moon's aunt was an unreliable and bad adult who didn't love Little Moon.
But Little Moon didn't realize it.
The two girls whispered to each other, and after lunch, Xu Yirou and her son went home.
On the way back, Xu Yirou sullenly told Erbao about Xiaoyue.
He Nianzhu didn't have any thoughts. He never liked to meddle in other people's business. Besides, Li Ranran was Xiaoyue's older sister. If she didn't care, what could they, as outsiders, do?
"Mom, would you like some milk tea?"
"I'm thinking about it a tiny bit."
"I'll make it for you when I get back."
Xu Yirou: "Erbao, Xiaoyue is so pitiful, we..."
"Mom, Bubble's almost out of class. We might run into her on the way." He Nianzhu smiled and pinched her cheek. "You haven't seen your little granddaughter all morning, have you missed her?"
When Bubble was mentioned, Xu Yirou smiled naturally: "Yeah, she must be very tired from taking dance class by herself. I want to go with her next time."
The cub's mother's attention was subtly diverted, and He Nianzhu felt relieved enough to talk about her own affairs.
"Mom, I'm going to film a movie for a few days tomorrow. Do you want to come with me?"
When the topic of filming came up, Xu Yirou immediately became nervous, inevitably recalling the accident from last time.
She wrapped her arms around Erbao's arm and asked nervously, "Erbao, can you fly?"
Feifei refers to being suspended by wires.
Without hesitation, He Nianzhu replied, "No, let's use a stand-in this time."
If nothing unexpected happens, this should be his last idol drama. Besides his mother's reasons, his older brother's insistence on him transitioning to a different path is likely also due to this factor.
It's common for idol dramas to feature actors using wire work to leap and scale walls; it would be a disservice to the genre if they didn't perform a wire stunt.
He is not an isolated case of an accident caused by wire work; on the contrary, there are many such glorious examples of injuries in the entertainment industry. However, he cannot guarantee that he will be so lucky every time and only suffer minor injuries.
What if one day I'm unlucky enough to fall and become paralyzed on one side? My mother would cry so much.
With this in mind, He Nianzhu calmly accepted the fact of the transformation.
Xu Yirou was worried about him, so she clung to him tightly and said in a soft voice, "Erbao, take me with you, I want to go with you."
He Nianzhu was caught off guard.
"Mom, filming is my job. I can't play with you during work hours, and there are no other children on set. You'll be bored."
"I'm not going there for fun."
Xu Yirou nestled into her son's arms, and the faint scent of milk suddenly wafted into his nose, softening his heart.
"I'm your mommy, I'll take care of you. It's okay if no other kids play with me, as long as Mommy can watch over you."
"Take me with you, please take me with you!"
The mother cub raised her head, her bright, sparkling eyes reflecting He Nianzhu's image. Her heart and soul were filled with concern for her cub's safety, and her anxious and caring voice was so undisguised.
He Nianzhu felt a lump in her throat upon hearing this.
No matter how young his mother is or how old he is, he will always be his mother's child, and his mother will always be his mother.
He hugged his young, delicate mother back, his long, strong arms encircling her tightly in his embrace, his nose affectionately nuzzling against her round little nose:
"Mom, it's so great that you can come to work with me. I must be the happiest child in the whole place."
Xu Yirou was overjoyed: "You agreed, Erbao?"
“You are the head of the family, and your word is law. How could I dare to disagree?” He Nianzhu chuckled happily. “I love Mom the most.”
Xu Yirou chuckled and patted her son's head: "My little darling."
He Nianzhu was not satisfied with her mother's response and raised her eyebrows arrogantly: "Mom, what about you? Do you like the second child the most?"
“You are all Mommy’s precious treasures.” Over the years, Xu Yirou’s words have never changed: “I love each and every one of you.”
When a 45-year-old mother and a 4-year-old mother say the same thing, the feeling is completely different.
He Nianzhu seemed to have returned to her most greedy childhood, wanting to possess all of her mother's love: "But Mom, I love you the most, but you don't love me the most. Is it because Erbao is not obedient or sensible enough?"
The long-lost rivalry and jealousy have resurfaced.
Four-year-old Xu Yirou lacked the thoughtfulness and comprehensiveness of a forty-five-year-old. Her youthful innocence was evident in her furrowed brows and her round, clear eyes darting nervously back and forth.
What to do? All three children are equally precious to me.
In a moment of inspiration, she suddenly had a flash of insight. After clearing her throat, she said in a mature tone, "Erbao, this problem is not as simple as you think. Even if I explained it, you wouldn't understand. When you reach Mommy's age, you will naturally understand."
At her age?
He Nianzhu chuckled, tilting her head slightly as she teased, "Mom, what age are you talking about? Four years old? I'm way past that age."
"Of course not four years old. When you were four, you were still wetting the bed and pretending to be Superman while wearing a bed sheet. What would you know about chicken legs?"
Front-seat driver Lao Fang: Trying not to laugh
He Nianzhu awkwardly put the cub's mother down and muttered in her ear, "Mom, give me some face."
Xu Yirou extended her short, chubby fingers and made an OK sign.
If all goes well, by the time he turns forty-five, his mother will only be twenty-nine. He will already be a middle-aged man, and perhaps a few strands of white hair will be mixed in with his black hair.
And Mom is still young and beautiful, her life is just beginning.
That's great.
I feel so lucky to have been able to accompany my mother through her growth, watching her grow from a little kid into an adult.
