Pei Xu, you are so cunning!

Pei Xu, you are so cunning!

"Ah!" Jiang Lin blurted out a cry of surprise! The feeling of weightlessness made him subconsciously wave his hands around.

He closed his eyes, waiting for the pain of falling to the ground in the next second. In an instant, a strong arm suddenly wrapped around his waist, and the other hand firmly supported his back, catching him steadily.

Jiang Lin rested his head on Pei Xu's shoulder, feeling the warmth on his neck and his slightly disordered breathing due to his rapid movements.

"Get up." A low voice sounded in Jiang Lin's ears, and the warm breath brushed across his earlobes, causing a slight shudder.

Jiang Lin quickly straightened his body, and could only vaguely see Pei Xu's silhouette in the darkness. The two were so close that Pei Xu could smell the lingering Chanel Blue scent on him.

"You..." Jiang Lin opened his mouth, but his voice was stuck in his throat.

Jiang Lin felt Pei Xu's gaze on his face. Suddenly, his forehead was flicked. "You daredevil, turn on the light!"

"Oh." Jiang Lin awkwardly turned on the flashlight of his phone, instantly breaking the darkness. Jiang Lin was the first to look away, lowered his eyes and whispered, "Thank you."

Pei Xu said disdainfully: "With your fingernail-sized courage, just follow me."

Jiang Lin saw the flashlight in his hand, grabbed his arm, looked down and said, "I heard that rustling sound just now, was it you? Are you playing tricks here?"

Pei Xu's face moved closer to his flashlight, and he made a ferocious expression. Jiang Lin took two steps back, "Are you having a seizure in the middle of the night?"

Pei Xu raised the flashlight speechlessly: "It suddenly went out. You are so timid. I will scare you into submission!"

"Pei Xu, you are so smart!"

Pei Xu handed him the police flashlight and said, "You can do it if you can."

Jiang Lin took the flashlight stubbornly and handed him the phone, "I'm going to light it up, and you eat it."

"Eat it if you want! I look forward to your performance."

Jiang Lin was about to slap the flashlight hard, but the moment he turned the switch, a dazzling light suddenly lit up.

Jiang Lin stared at him with a sharp gaze, his face seemed to say, "You'd better explain it to me."

Pei Xu said nothing, stuffed the phone back into his hand with one hand, took back the police flashlight with the other hand, and said domineeringly: "Hurry up and find someone!"

Jiang Lin followed closely behind him, making a funny expression and muttering, "A classic expression of being unreasonable but still strong-willed."

The beam of the flashlight shone through the dilapidated and rotten wooden window frames and onto the faces of the children inside the house. The dazzling light woke them up. Someone was shouting their names. The footsteps were getting closer and closer. They struggled and made "wooooooo" sounds.

Jiang Lin stopped and listened carefully to the subtle sound. "Everyone stop first, there seems to be someone in front."

When the children heard his words, they tried hard to kick up the debris on the ground. Jiang Lin heard it more clearly and said excitedly: "There is someone in the house ahead!"

Four people walked in the same direction. The police carefully stood on both sides of the door frame, using flashlights to illuminate the situation inside the house. The people inside were still kicking anything they could reach on the ground.

The four of them exchanged glances and nodded in unison, and quickly lifted up the rotten door panel.

The room was instantly illuminated by light. The three children on the ground had their hands and feet tied up with hemp ropes. They could only sit on the ground and could not get up. Their mouths were blocked with dirty towels. They looked at them with tears in their eyes.

Jiang Lin stood there in a daze. Pei Xu and the police rushed forward to untie them, and comforted them repeatedly: "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, we are here to save you."

The towel was taken away, and the child's crying echoed over the dilapidated old house, venting his fear and grievance.

It was late at night. After negotiation, Pei Xu and Jiang Lin booked a room at a hotel in the town to accommodate the three children.

Jiang Lin felt very uncomfortable and tossed and turned all night.

Both parties arrived at the police station early in the morning. Several victims from Liujia Village kept shouting, "How can you be so naughty and steal things at such a young age? Is it because you have a mother but no father to teach you?"

Ah Xiu and Ah Lan's grandmother's eyes were red and swollen, and their bodies were trembling slightly as they stepped forward and cursed: "Why are your mouths so venomous! I tell you, cursing people will damage your merits!"

"You haven't figured out the situation yet, and you're already yelling at our child. Do you want me to get beaten?"

"Go ahead and give it to us! You can't say anything even if your legs are broken after stealing our things!"

The two grandmas had not slept all night and were overly worried. They were so angry that they could not stand steadily. Pei Xu and his son quickly supported them.

Jiang Lin walked around them and said coldly: "You are so good at handling cases, why don't you let the police officers go off work and do it yourself!"

Everyone entered the waiting room in silence. Pei Xu noticed that Jiang Lin's face looked strange. He leaned over the armrest of the chair and asked in a low voice, "Did you sleep poorly last night?"

"I didn't fall asleep." Jiang Lin glanced at the faces of the people in Liujia Village. The sympathy he had yesterday was gone, leaving only indifference. He reminded Pei Xu: "I have been in Peijia Village for a few days and lost my perfume and necklace. A few days ago, I saw from a distance a few little brats of the same age as them in the village, driving a modified ghost train around the village. One of them was wearing my Chanel necklace. I thought it was the three of them last night, but when I saw them, I found out it was not them."

Pei Xu understood what he meant. The three children were questioned accompanied by their family members. After more than two hours of questioning, the police came down to the first floor to discuss the situation with Pei Qi. "The three of them said exactly the same thing. There is no difference at all."

Pei Xu and Jiang Lin looked at each other and said, "Seventh Master, I will talk to the children later."

Several victims from Liujia Village went upstairs to be questioned. Jiang Lin hated the lingering smell of cigarette smoke in the waiting room, and was standing alone in the courtyard blowing in the cold wind. Pei Xu went downstairs and took a look, and found that he was not in the waiting room, so he came out to look for him.

Pei Xu walked up to him and asked, "Are you bored of waiting?"

"No. How's the situation up there?"

"I read what the three of them said, and they all said that they went to Pangjia Village to look for their classmates, drank a bottle of water handed to them by someone else, and when they woke up they found themselves tied up, and the stolen things were gone."

"It's obvious that they are colluding with each other. Someone must have threatened them or taught them to say this in advance. And saying this will not do them any good."

Pei Xu nodded: "I think the same as you. I also tend to think that they are threatened."

The two went to school quietly, and Pei Xu asked: "Can you still recognize that person?"

"I have a first-rate ability to recognize people. I can even remember the faces of some fans who only came to the airport to pick me up once."

Pei Xu informed the two children's class teacher of the situation, who reported it to the school leaders, who ultimately agreed to let them search for the person through surveillance.

The nine-grid surveillance screen showed the real-time situation of each class. Jiang Lin zoomed in on the screen of each class intently. The head teacher explained: "Pei Chen and Pei Yixuan's grades are very good. We have 15 classes in the first and second grades of junior high school, including 6 key classes. Their grades are among the best. They usually perform well in all aspects of school. How could they do such a thing as stealing?"

Pei Xu responded to her: "So we want to see if there are any other clues."

Jiang Lin looked at class after class, with dark circles under his eyes. Pei Xu poured him a glass of water.

Suddenly, a familiar face came into view. Jiang Lin zoomed in on the picture, turned around and asked, "Teacher, do you know this student?"

The head teacher adjusted his glasses and looked closer at the screen. "I know him. This is Xie Hao from Class 3."

Pei Xu leaned over and whispered in his ear: "Are you sure? Do you want to go to the class and take a look?"

Jiang Lin looked at the person who was listening to the class seriously in the surveillance video and said firmly: "No, I'm sure it's him."

Pei Xu called the police station, and the police officer changed into plain clothes and drove a private car to take Xie Hao to the police station, deliberately passing in front of the three children.

The three children showed fear on their faces. They looked at Xie Hao and then quickly lowered their heads.

Xie Hao stared at them, clenched his fists, and reluctantly followed the police into the office.

After a while, Xie Hao's mother Feng Tingting arrived and shouted: "Why are you arresting people at random? You said he stole something, where is the evidence?"

The voice was loud and clear, and the villagers of Liujia Village leaned out of the waiting room to watch.

The police patiently explained: "The owner of the lost item called the police and reported that Xie Hao had appeared in Peijia Village last Saturday, and the necklace he was wearing was the same as the one the owner had lost. We are conducting inquiries according to the routine."

Feng Tingting's eyes swept over Jiang Lin and the others fiercely, and her voice echoed in the corridor on the first floor: "Who is the owner? Who called the police!"

Everyone avoided her gaze, lowered their heads and kept silent, scratching their heads to show that it was none of their business.

"It's me!" Jiang Lin leaned lazily against the wall, looking at her fearlessly.

Feng Tingting brushed aside the policeman's hand and rushed forward to confront him: "You said my Xie Hao stole your necklace. What evidence do you have?"

"Unfortunately, there happened to be a surveillance camera in town that captured your son wearing my necklace."

Feng Tingting raised one corner of her mouth and said disdainfully: "What a joke! Is your necklace unique? Just because you see someone else wearing the same necklace, you say it's yours?"

Jiang Lin looked down at him and asked in an oppressive tone, "Really? Your son can get a Chanel necklace at such a young age?"

She said arrogantly: "My son is an excellent student! What's wrong with me as a mother rewarding him with a Chanel necklace? Can't I afford it?"

Jiang Lin shrugged, raised his chin slightly, and raised his eyebrows: "Chanel is not a valuable thing, and the general public can afford it."

Feng Tingting pointed at Jiang Lin and said, "If my son is frightened by your unwarranted police identification and his grades are affected, I will never forgive you! I will make you pay for the mental damages!"

Jiang Lin walked past her and said, "Okay, I'll wait and see. I'm so poor that I only have money left."

Xie Hao was questioned accompanied by his parents: "Xie Hao, relax and don't be nervous. I called you here today because I have something to ask you."

Xie Hao sat in the chair without saying a word, with his head down and picking at his nails.

Feng Tingting poked his back with her finger and said fiercely, "Are you dumb or deaf and can't answer people?"

The police officer reminded her: "During the interrogation, parents should try not to speak and just accompany the child."
