Chapter 68 Did you miss me?
Sheng Yi wanted to keep up the act, but the disgust in her heart was already on her throat. If she continued to pretend, she might feel like vomiting.
"Let go."
If she weren't undeniably his type, Zhang Li wouldn't have let her be so coy and offered him the lead role so readily. He thought anyone would be tempted by such a deal, but unexpectedly…
She has quite an appetite.
Sheng Yi struggled with all her might, but who knew this person was just all show and no substance? If she hadn't kept her balance, she would have almost fallen.
What a cursed thing.
She patted her sleeves and was about to leave when she looked up and saw Xu Jiayi standing blankly at the alley entrance. Receiving her gaze, Xu Jiayi's eyes instantly flashed with a fierce light, utterly devoid of hostility.
Tsk, this one looks like he's not exactly clear-headed either.
Zhang Li slowly withdrew his hand, rubbing his fingertips, and then, as he raised his hand, gently sniffed it.
Her skin was as smooth as cream, and she had a delicate fragrance.
Sheng Yi couldn't stand the man's expression, so she raised her chin and pointed behind her.
As expected of a seasoned veteran, Sheng Yi wanted to applaud his unflappable reaction. He walked calmly to Xu Jiayi and said, "Jiayi, come here, let me introduce you. This is Teacher Sheng from the next group. We just chatted for a bit."
He gently placed his hand on Xu Jiayi's waist, smiling like a humble senior. If Sheng Yi hadn't witnessed it with her own eyes, she would have doubted the extent of her memory.
Xu Jiayi was furious. Why was Sheng Yi so persistent?
It's one thing to flirt around outside, but I didn't expect that she would still be so incorrigible after joining the crew, even trying to steal men right in front of her?
She knew Zhang Li never liked being high-profile, but how could she stand it? She immediately grabbed Zhang Li's arm, glared at Sheng Yi like a rooster in battle mode, then turned her head and walked away with an air of nobility and aloofness.
No, what's with this smug attitude?
Xu Jiayi stormed out of the alley, while Sheng Yi looked up at the sky speechlessly, thinking, "Fine, fine, act however you want."
During the video call that evening, I wanted to ask Wen Shili if she knew anything about Director Zhang, but I swallowed the words back. She must be crazy to waste her time getting entangled with someone like that.
Putting everything else aside, she's confident that she still has a significant edge over Xu Jiayi, at least in terms of eye contact.
Regardless of the timeline, at least when they were together, Wen Shili only saw her.
But thinking about it, it makes sense. In his position, if he couldn't even manage his private life, he'd inevitably fall from grace. To a certain extent, this forces him to end each relationship properly. That's why, over the years, there hasn't been a single genuine revelation about his ex-girlfriends.
Spending a little emotion, money, or even just a few resources to appease someone can guarantee long-term fame, which is undeniably a worthwhile investment.
There was no signal in that area before, and the two were basically out of contact. Sheng Yi didn't feel that time was passing by too quickly, but on the first day that contact was restored, Wen Shili pestered her to agree to an unequal treaty.
After that, whenever we weren't filming night scenes, I would chat with him for a while every night.
After a day of filming, Sheng Yi was actually quite sleepy by the end. She turned over and murmured, "Aren't you sleepy?"
As the weather grew warmer, she wore a light nightgown with a jacket over it. With each movement, the collar of the jacket had already slipped down in a mess, revealing a glimpse of her skin.
Wen Shili looked at the person whose eyes were squinting and whose consciousness was beginning to fade, and turned slightly to the side. "Hang up if you're sleepy."
Sheng Yi was still half asleep, her eyelids drooping, but she was still trying to listen carefully. "When are you planning to go to sleep?"
He said he'd stay, and she truly didn't slack off at all. A surge of emotion welled up inside Wen Shili, and he felt as if he were possessed by a demon. He called out to her, "Sheng Yi?"
"Hmm?" Sheng Yi hummed softly.
The devil, with his most seductive voice, attacked her fragile nerves, "Did you miss me?"
Sheng Yi closed her eyes and responded again, her mind already blank.
"Okay, I understand." Wen Shili reached out and hung up the video call.
When Sheng Yi woke up the next day, she had no idea when she had gone to sleep. She hadn't taken off her coat, just wrapped it haphazardly around herself, and had slept in a mess.
Having learned from her previous experience, she dared not take the easy way out again, and dutifully took the crew's car to and from the set every day.
That day, they were filming a fight scene. After several takes, the director was still not satisfied. Sheng Yi rolled around on the ground again and again, feeling like she was covered in dust. The first thing she did when she got back was to rush into the bathroom and wash herself from head to toe.
There was a bruise the size of a palm below her knee. She must have bumped into something accidentally while taking the picture. Sheng Yi touched it and it didn't hurt much, but it was purplish and looked a bit scary.
She rummaged through her bag and found that the ointment was with Jingjing. She simply rolled up her trouser legs a few times. When she heard the phone ring, she was about to ask her to bring the ointment with her when she answered it. It was Wen Shili's voice.
"Are you done working?"
He usually doesn't call at this time. "Hmm," Sheng Yi said casually while texting Jingjing, "What's wrong?"
There was a long silence on the phone. Sheng Yi listened intently for a moment but heard nothing. "Where are you?"
Another silence followed.
Sheng Yi's fingers paused slightly, wondering if she was overthinking things, yet unsure of what outcome she was hoping to hear. She pulled down her trouser leg, found a towel, wrapped it around her hair, and slowly began to dry it.
After a long silence, Wen Shili finally said, "Didn't you say you missed me?"
Sheng Yi subconsciously wanted to refute, but his sealed memories were automatically loaded successfully as he spoke.
All right.
Sheng Yi quickened her wiping motions, while Wen Shili leaned against the wall, gazing at the empty scenery in the distance, and said softly, "If it's convenient, could you please come and pick me up, Teacher Sheng?"
"Wait a few minutes." Sheng Yi tossed aside the towel, plugged in the hairdryer, quickly blew it a few times, and then instructed him, "Don't hang it up."
After a while, Sheng Yi turned off the hairdryer, roughly combed her hair with her fingers, picked up her phone again, and asked him, "Where are you?"
When she went over, she saw Wen Shili obediently waiting in the place she had indicated, dressed in all black, wearing a mask, and dressed in a rather inconspicuous manner. When he saw her coming, he reached out his hand to take hers.
Sheng Yi glared at him, turned and left. Wen Shili withdrew his hand and followed behind her without saying a word.
Like children waiting for their parents to pick them up after school.
Sheng Yi didn't know why she came up with such a description, but when the child followed her into the room, she realized that the child might be a little big.
The room arranged by the production crew was small, an old-fashioned partitioned room. She wasn't short for a girl, but compared to Wen Shili, she was in a completely different league.
Seeing him standing there, Sheng Yi was worried he might bump his head. She moved a stool for him to sit on, but the little stool looked rather funny. She then tidied up the bed, patted it, and gestured for him to find another spot.
Wen Shili, however, became particular, saying, "I'm dirty."
Well, Sheng Yi simply let him be.
She found a cup, poured him some water, and then took the kettle into the bathroom. "Sit down for a bit."
After picking up her lunchbox, Jingjing saw Shengyi's message. She went back to her room to get some ointment before heading over to Shengyi.
Their rooms were next to each other. Sheng Yi always left the door open for her when it was time to serve meals. She pushed the door open as usual, but when she saw who was in the room, she was stunned.
She has such an older sister!
"Excuse me, I went to the wrong place," she said hastily. As she spoke, she backed away, even considerately closing the door behind her.
Bang! The door slammed shut behind them.
On the door, there was a sign with the house number clearly written in bold black ink. If I remember correctly, it was her handwriting.
What's going on? Did the production crew change my room? They should have at least notified me!
She took a deep breath, raised her hand, and knocked a few times.
Soon, someone opened the door, and through the crack, it was the same person from before.
Moreover, it looks very familiar.
"Teacher Wen..." she swallowed hard, "Have you seen my sister?"
"Give me the things."
The two spoke in unison.
Sheng Yi listened to the slow boiling sound of the water, and faintly heard some movement at the door. Following the sound, she went out and saw Wen Shili and Jingjing standing in the room, looking rather like they were on equal footing.
"Teacher Sheng, someone is looking for you." Wen Shili crossed his arms and gestured to her in a serious manner.
Jingjing, as if she had found her pillar of support, moved over to her side with her lunchbox and called out, "Sister."
Sheng Yi sighed, realizing she'd forgotten to mention it. But why was he suddenly giving her that look? She gave him a subtle glare, took the lunchbox, and said to Jingjing, "Thank you for your hard work."
Seeing the two whispering amongst themselves, Wen Shili looked away and walked to the other side. Perhaps only when facing him would he be so fierce and unyielding.
Jingjing finally regained her breathing ability, quickly set out the meal, handed over the ointment, and instructed her, "Apply it morning and night." After saying that, she picked up her own meal and left.
She rushed to the door, then turned back to look at Sheng Yi, her face showing a hesitant expression. Sheng Yi couldn't help but chuckle, stepped forward, and gave her a reassuring look: I know what I'm doing.
Jingjing thought about it for a moment, but was still a little worried, and reminded her, "Remember to lock the door from the inside."
Her tone was so serious that Sheng Yi tensed up and nodded earnestly in agreement. But then she saw the girl in front of her lower her head and whisper even more softly, "I slept very soundly last night."
She spoke very quickly, and Sheng Yi didn't have time to react. She just nodded to indicate that she understood.
There was only one stool in the room, so when she wanted to eat, Wen Shili had to stand to the side. Being stared at like that, it was no wonder Sheng Yi couldn't eat. She simply put down her chopsticks and pushed him to go wash up.
Sheng Yi briefly explained how to use each item, and feeling that she had said everything she needed to say, she left, closing the door behind her.
Wen Shili reached out and blocked the door frame, looking at her with a half-smile, which made Sheng Yi's scalp tingle and even begin to doubt whether she really had ulterior motives. Only then did Wen Shili stop smiling and stop teasing her. "Alright, let's go eat."
He pushed her shoulder to sit on a small stool, and whispered in her ear, "I didn't bring my clothes."
Sheng Yi: "..."
That was incredibly awkward.
The meals on set weren't lavish, but they had a good mix of meat and vegetables, enough to fill one's stomach. Sheng Yi rummaged through her lunchbox, but her thoughts kept getting caught up in the sound of running water.
It was only then that she understood Jingjing's unspoken expression.
This room is so poorly soundproofed.
