Chapter 79 Rejecting her kindness. ...
Sheng Yi didn't know how he had gotten himself into that state; she only felt a faint coolness spreading from their lips as he leaned in to kiss her.
She flinched from the cold and tried to back away, but Wen Shili followed closely behind. His tall back was slightly hunched as he lowered his head and, at her height, kissed her intently under the room's light.
The room was warm and cozy, and even though she was only wearing a thin sweater, her face still felt like it was burning. Just a door away, a live stream was still going on. Sheng Yi pressed her lips tightly together, not daring to make a sound.
Whether from holding her breath or from nervousness, the blush on her face gradually deepened, like a sunset in full bloom, hovering over her cheeks.
Sheng Yi slapped him frantically. He looked thin, but he was actually quite muscular. After slapping him twice, she changed to pushing him. Wen Shili was already in a hunched position, and with her forceful push, he was caught off guard and stumbled backward a little.
Sheng Yi turned to leave, but the next moment she fell into a hard chest and was held tightly by him.
He was already completely heated up, his large hands gripping her lower back, hot and dangerous. Sheng Yi tilted her head back, revealing her long, slender neck, which conveniently facilitated his movements.
Wen Shili lowered his eyes and looked down.
"Well--"
His lips were burning hot too.
Wherever it passed, it left a comforting warmth. I tried to shout, but no sound came out except for meaningless syllables.
Sheng Yi felt like she was standing on solid ground one moment and floating high up the next. After searching for a long time, she finally managed to find her voice, "No..."
Perhaps sensing her resistance, Wen Shili raised his eyes, his gaze sweeping lightly across her face, as if trying to discern the reason for her reluctance. Sheng Yi turned her head slightly, glanced at the room next door, and said softly, "I'm still live streaming."
All movements stopped abruptly. His gaze was deep and intense, and Sheng Yi, though somewhat dazed, almost wanted to laugh. Her raised eyelids quietly drooped. Wen Shili held her waist, and after confirming that she was steady, he took two steps back.
In a fleeting moment, she transformed back into that seemingly gentle and refined, yet actually aloof and polite superstar.
Sheng Yi quickly tidied her hair and clothes, then ran to the mirror to check herself carefully. Fortunately, he hadn't gotten too close to her at first for fear of catching a chill, and her clothes today were made of a material that didn't wrinkle easily.
If there was anything wrong... Sheng Yi's eyes fell back on the mirror, looking at the slightly flushed skin on the side of her neck. She brushed a strand of her long hair that was loose behind her back and pulled it to her chest, just enough to cover up that tiny mistake.
While those outside the screen were gripped by fear, those inside were excitedly awaiting a response.
"Oh no, is my sister really going to abandon us like this?"
"Why does it take so long to pick up takeout? Where does she live? Does she have to go downstairs?"
"Let's chat a little longer, or I wouldn't mind doing a live mukbang."
I wholeheartedly agree.
...
They kissed under the bright lights, a tender moment that was not meant to be shared with others.
Sheng Yi looked at the scrolling subtitles on the screen, pursed her lips, tried to ignore the teasing voices mixed in, and replied to the fans' interactions as usual, "The takeout is here, I'm logging off now."
"Okay, bye everyone, see you next time."
Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Sheng Yi used to think that this saying was an exaggeration, but tonight she truly experienced that some of the sayings circulating are indeed based on the experience of certain people.
If it weren't for the real delivery guy rescuing her, she wouldn't know where she would be struggling right now, and the feeling of receiving the delivery was as light as winning the lottery.
She ended up ordering delivery from a nearby hotel. She and Wen Shili had eaten there a few times before, and apart from the slightly lower price-performance ratio, she couldn't find any faults. It had been a while since she'd eaten there, and the hotel had some new dishes, so she ordered two to try.
Just when she desperately needed to replenish her energy, Sheng Yi was relieved that the food delivered didn't taste much worse than dining in. She casually turned on a variety show to watch while eating, and to her surprise, she saw a familiar face on the show.
After the broadcast of "Starry River Like a Dream," the popularity of all the cast members soared. Although there were some differences among them internally, everyone became undeniably famous. Everyone was busy with their own schedules and dealing with a constant stream of invitations, and apart from the initial group promotions, they didn't have much time to get together afterwards.
In this episode of the variety show, Zeng Shaoguang appeared as a guest and quickly got along well with the regular cast members. The comments section was filled with expressions of admiration, but Sheng Yi shook his head, saying he was already used to it.
The veteran guests had clearly done their homework. During the game segment, they even prepared clues related to "Starry River Dream" and knew all the references in the show by heart. When Sheng Yi listened to them teasing the young lady, she felt incredibly awkward.
She was so engrossed in watching that the progress bar was already halfway through, and she hadn't even eaten much of her rice. Sheng Yi ate a couple of bites, and Wen Shili came out after taking a shower. Seeing her watching the show, he didn't disturb her and sat down next to her to scroll through his own phone.
During the show, the topic turned to Zeng Shaoguang again. Sheng Yi unconsciously licked her lips, which were still slightly sore, and secretly glared at someone in the audience, but her body honestly turned down the volume.
Fortunately, a variety show isn't a one-person show, and in the second half, everyone started a new topic. Sheng Yi secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but before she could fully relax, she felt eyes on her again.
Wen Shili tilted his head, his eyes filled with confusion, "When did you receive the 108th room?"
He stared at him intently, as if waiting for an explanation, but a smile flickered deep in his eyes.
Sheng Yi suddenly slammed the chopsticks in her hand together, coughing.
Honestly, some keywords just flashed through her mind; she didn't intentionally try to remember them. But the moment he opened his mouth, she knew exactly what he was saying, as if possessed by a prejudiced ghost.
Sheng Yi coughed so hard she could barely breathe. Wen Shili, completely oblivious to the fact that she was inconveniencing her, leaned over and patted her back while pouring her water. The words of reproach she was about to say were swallowed back down. Just as she was about to let it go as if nothing had happened, some people just wouldn't let her have her way.
He stared at her with a wistful expression and a pitiful look, his voice a mixture of pity and sigh, "I won't be disliked so soon, will I?"
Is it really okay to say such things with that kind of face? Doesn't he care about the lives of others?
Sheng Yi almost bit her back teeth off. She suddenly lowered her head and ate all the food in the lunchbox in a few bites. Wen Shili, quite perceptive, handed her a tissue box. Sheng Yi rolled her eyes at him: "You've finally grown eyes now?"
She pulled out a tissue to wipe the grease from her lips before she had a chance to reply to him, "Come on, have some confidence in yourself. Your face is good enough to be two people."
However, she overlooked the extent of someone's shamelessness. Wen Shili instantly switched from self-pity to a state of complete ignorance of humility, yet still looked hurt and incredulous, "Only two?"
Sheng Yi collapsed, powerless.
"Be content, what more do you want?" she said irritably, pouncing on him and grabbing his cheeks, pulling them apart as she did so, asking in confusion, "Let me see, where's your face?"
Sheng Yi felt he had used all his strength, but when it landed on Wen Shili, it had a completely different effect.
Soft fingertips, gentle touches, comfortable body temperature, affectionate eyes… all intertwined in his gaze. Wen Shili stared at her intently, a subtle, persistent itch rising within him. It enveloped him tightly, yet remained elusive.
Perhaps that subtle longing has always existed deep within his soul, hidden and dormant, waiting only for the right moment to break through the soil.
Amidst laughter and playfulness, the two of them collapsed onto the sofa. Sheng Yi looked down and met a pair of smiling eyes.
She quickly turned her head away, let go, and was about to get off him. In that movement, she suddenly sensed something.
His body froze completely.
The strange sensation was clear and distinct. Sheng Yi's mind went blank, but her face was as lively as if she had opened a color mixing workshop. She couldn't help but glance downwards out of the corner of her eye.
The person who had just been so composed now had lost that relaxed expression; his gentle, smiling eyes were now hidden behind long, fine eyelashes, and his pleasant voice seemed to have fallen into a mist.
"let go."
"Oh." Upon hearing this, Sheng Yi hesitantly withdrew her hand, but couldn't help looking out.
Compared to his predicament, her embarrassment seemed insignificant.
Neither of them moved. Sheng Yi remained in this position, her mind incongruously drifting to certain jokes she'd heard in the past. Although the timing was inappropriate, Sheng Yi couldn't help but let her lips twitch uncontrollably. She tried to suppress it, but a soft laugh still escaped from her tightly closed lips.
Wen Shili's face turned from pale to dark. He glanced at her helplessly. Sheng Yi was still immersed in her own emotions, her lips slightly curved. Wen Shili sighed softly, and the next moment, she fell into his arms again.
Their bodies pressed tightly together, and he, as if he had nothing to lose, tightened his grip on her hand and said, "Look, I've only been gone a few days, and I've already taken over 108 rooms."
He nuzzled his head against her neck, his voice muffled, like a puppy caught in a sudden downpour. Sheng Yi couldn't help but smirk, not forgetting to show off a little: "You probably missed it. Scroll down, there might be another one labeled 801."
Wen Shili knew she was deliberately being mischievous, and raised his hand as if to push her away. Sheng Yi quickly reached out and hugged him, saying, "No." As if as a reward, she cupped his face and gently kissed his lips.
The living room lights had somehow shifted to an orange hue, and the delicate, fair-skinned baby beneath them seemed to be bathed in a soft glow. A certain prominent feature loomed in the center, but no one had time to pay attention to it anymore.
Every breath was tinged with heat, and every turn brought forth a deeper longing.
His body felt like it was about to explode from the heat, yet his soul seemed to be suspended high in the sky, looking down. Wen Shili held the person in his arms tightly, his body trembling slightly uncontrollably.
He called her name softly, his voice hoarse as he commanded in her ear, "There are too many vixens out there, you must remember me." His tone was low and hoarse, devoid of its former composure.
Sheng Yi had no idea what she had rashly agreed to; everything had become chaotic and incomprehensible. Yet, a sliver of clarity, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, guided her on her path of exploration.
"Do you need help?" Taking advantage of the brief moment between their lips parting, she laboriously raised her eyes, her words never returning. She tentatively reached out, her hand bypassing the strong muscles of her waist and abdomen, downwards, and further down...
Delicate fingers were enveloped by a strong, large hand.
His breaths were tinged with endless agitation, and his broken voice had completely lost its former pitch, yet he still persisted, clinging to a sliver of clarity, and refused her kindness.
