Chapter 88: Extremely insidious.
His poke almost caused Sheng Yi to lose her composure.
Without even asking, she sensed that gaze.
The guys in the boy band were completely glued to her, and had no time to say anything to her.
"Teacher Wen!" everyone exclaimed in unison.
Wen Shili glanced indifferently at the group of men who were flamboyantly flamboyant in front of him. Further ahead, Zeng Shaoguang and Sheng Yi stood side by side, hand in hand. One was in black and the other in white, looking like a black swan with a white-painted toad beside it.
Just as he was looking at them, the toad opened its mouth and spoke.
Zeng Shaoguang covered his mouth, and moved even closer to Sheng Yi in fear, "I feel like I'm about to get a hole punched in me, don't you think?"
"Whose fault is it!" Sheng Yi said irritably, elbowing him directly. "I see you're having a good time." She maintained her composure, her mouth remaining still; only her voice could be heard. To onlookers—
For example, Lin Hao's eyelids were twitching. He paused, turned around abruptly, and blocked Wen Shili's forward gaze with a commanding presence. His face wore an indescribable expression, which, if interpreted carefully, could be described as: "If you want to die, don't drag me down with you."
Just then, a chubby man, clutching his phone, hurriedly squeezed through from the other side. He glanced at his troublesome kids with a look of exasperation, then stepped forward with a smile, calling out "President Lin," before turning to Wen Shili and respectfully saying, "Teacher Wen."
There might be many people in the industry who could be called "President Lin," but "Young President Lin" always referred to only one person. The guys in the boy band exchanged glances, looked at the exceptionally young man in front of them, and said in unison, "Young President Lin!"
Anyone with even a slight understanding of the inner workings of various entertainment companies in the industry has almost certainly heard of CEO Lin. Just as famous as his scandalous affairs is his backer, Lao Lin. It's like a rich kid dabbling in entertainment; if things don't work out, there's always a throne to inherit. But while CEO Lin may be a bit of a slacker, under his management, Star Entertainment has managed to look quite respectable over the years.
Wen Shili is a representative work launched by Star Entertainment. As long as this brand exists, Star's brilliance will never fade.
In the eyes of businessmen, compared to the renowned Wen Shili, after several rounds of competition, Mr. Lin's appeal still subtly gained the upper hand. He smiled ingratiatingly and asked, "Mr. Lin, what brings you here?"
As Lin Hao cursed Wen Shili in his heart for the eighth time, he finally forced himself to let out a laugh, "I'm here to get an autograph for my sister."
"Oh!" The short, stout man gave a meaningful "oh." Although he had never heard that Old Lin had a daughter, he didn't care about whether she was a biological sister or a romantic sister. He would sign, however many she wanted!
He was just about to urge his buddies to quickly set up a stall and hopefully get some autographs when he turned around and saw his own kids grinning from ear to ear in front of Wen Shili: "Teacher Wen, could you please sign your name for me? I've liked you for a long time."
"Yes, yes, that's me too."
For a group like theirs, which originated from talent shows, singing and dancing skills were naturally a given, and their opening concerts were mostly attended by children. However, these talents and even their appearances, which they were so proud of, paled in comparison to Wen Shili, like fish eyes seeing pearls. They didn't even need to be compared; they already felt inexplicably inferior. Coincidentally, the members of this idol boy band knew their own limitations very well.
Look at how respectfully they treat each other like they're paying homage to the founding ancestor! The agent rubbed his forehead, feeling utterly exhausted—they're just like you guys!
In that small space, several camps instantly split up. Sheng Yi looked at the few silly-looking, respectful and sincere boy band members, completely different from their boastful and sweet-talking demeanor in front of her just now. Then she looked at their mercenary and helpless manager, and for a moment she even saw the shadow of Lao Qian. She almost burst out laughing.
After Wen Shili finished signing autographs with a flourish, the boy band members were led away by their manager. Zeng Shaoguang's eyes darted around a few times before he stepped forward and asked, "Teacher Wen, can we take a picture together?"
Wen Shili remained unmoved, while Zeng Shaoguang called out to Sheng Yi, who was standing to the side, "Teacher Sheng, do you want to come over and join us?"
Sheng Yi was very suspicious that this person really didn't like living a comfortable life, so she rubbed her heels and gave him a look of rejection.
Zeng Shaoguang was now completely playing the role of being blind and deaf. He was going to film it, and film it in public! Anyway, given his relationship with Sheng Yi, they wouldn't really try to kill him, right? When you have the opportunity, you still want to stroke the tiger's whiskers sometimes.
He took out his phone, turned on the camera mode, and calmly watched Sheng Yi. Sure enough, the moment Sheng Yi moved his foot, Wen Shili reached out and took his phone, shoving it into Lin Hao's hand beside him, "Oh, okay."
Lin Hao, who was conscripted into the army: "..."
He took a deep breath. "Come closer, good, smile."
That evening, Sheng Yi had just finished washing up and lay down when she opened her phone and saw a message from Zeng Shaoguang: "Insidious, extremely insidious!"
Sheng Yi: "?"
The phone kept ringing for a while, and Zeng Shaoguang quickly sent over all the photos he had taken that evening, indignantly saying, "Quick, you be the judge!"
Sheng Yi clicked through the photos one by one, and it was just as she had expected. Standing next to someone like that, even a female celebrity wouldn't get the better end of the deal. Lin Hao's photography skills were decent; she selected two photos to save before asking Zeng Shaoguang, "What's wrong?"
Zeng Shaoguang, feeling utterly hopeless, earnestly suggested, "Go get a pair of glasses, really."
Mr. Lin kept directing them to pose and find the perfect angles, but the final product completely obscured Zeng Shaoguang's face. Only after Mr. Lin pointed it out did Sheng Yi realize that taking more than a dozen photos and only one showing Zeng Shaoguang was a bit much, cough cough.
She thought for a moment and earnestly comforted him, "Well... Mr. Lin, you might not be very good at using these kinds of electronic products."
Zeng Shaoguang collapsed to the ground.
Ten minutes later, Wu Simin finally returned with the late-night snack.
Sheng Yi hadn't eaten much for dinner and was already starving. She figured her aunt would have prepared a meal by the time she got home, but on her way back, she received a call from Wu Simin saying she had just landed in S City that evening. Sheng Yi thought for a moment and immediately told the driver to turn around and drive straight to Wu Simin's hotel.
Wu Simin was also hungry, and the two hit it off immediately. Unfortunately, Sheng Yi couldn't go for a stroll in the night market with her right now, so the responsibility of buying late-night snacks fell directly on Wu Simin's shoulders.
At 10:30 p.m., two female celebrities were enjoying barbecue skewers at a hotel.
After eating and drinking to their hearts' content, Sheng Yi pulled out a stack of autographs from his bag, slammed them on the table with an air of nonchalance, and exclaimed, "Here you go!"
Wu Simin, still holding a grilled sausage in one hand, saw the stack of personal signatures and her eyes lit up. She carefully flipped through them, her eyes gleaming, and gave Sheng Yi a quick kiss on the cheek. "Oh my god, I've struck it rich! I'll treat you to dinner tomorrow!"
She has a friend who happens to be a fan of this boy band. Not long ago, the two joked that when she became famous, she would help her get autographs, and her friend would give her a 1,000 yuan red envelope for every autograph she got. She casually mentioned it to Sheng Yi, but she didn't expect her friend to be so generous; this stack of autographs must be worth at least 10,000 yuan.
Sheng Yi pulled out a tissue to wipe the oil off her face, looking disgusted. "Thank you!"
The person who said she was disgusted didn't actually look disgusted, so Wu Simin hugged her with a smile and said, "Yiyi, you're the best to me."
Sheng Yi stopped her from getting closer with her hand, "Alright, stop being so mushy." She was practically risking her life to accompany him.
Both of them had to go to work the next day, so they didn't dare to stay up too late.
Wu Simin quickly fell into a deep sleep. Sheng Yi turned over and was just about to drift off to sleep when she heard her phone ringing next to her. A thought flashed through her mind: she had forgotten to put it on silent before going to sleep.
She reached over, grabbed the phone, and turned off the ringer. A newly sent WeChat message lay on the screen: "Should I go downstairs or you come upstairs?"
Sending time: 11:05 PM. Sheng Yi woke up from her nap immediately, glanced at Wu Simin who was breathing steadily beside her, and quietly got out of bed.
The elevator ascended rapidly. Sheng Yi watched the rapidly changing elevator floors. In the mirror in front of him, he saw a woman who was fully armed from head to toe, making it impossible to see her face.
With a ding, the elevator arrived at the floor she pressed. The elevator doors opened, and Sheng Yi immediately saw the man waiting outside.
He turned to leave, Sheng Yi following two steps behind. With a bang, the door slammed shut, and a sliver of light poured down from above, some of it catching the eye of the man before her. A fleeting glance, and the next second, Sheng Yi's hand was gripped.
"Why don't you go home?" Wen Shili asked in a low voice, looking down.
Sheng Yi leaned against the door behind her, straightened her back, and said, "My friend is coming to see me. I already told you."
Of course, she wouldn't tell him that a strange intuition was warning her that she should stay away from him today. So when she received Wu Simin's message, her first reaction was relief. Acting first and informing later was naturally out of the question.
Under his gaze, Sheng Yi couldn't hold out for more than ten seconds. She looked away, glancing around but refusing to look at him. Wen Shili reached out and cupped her chin, forcing Sheng Yi to look back at him. His eyes held a confusion she couldn't understand. "Didn't I explain it to you clearly yesterday?"
Hearing his shout, Sheng Yi's face flushed red again. Her face was always blushing, completely lacking any sense of self-control. Annoyed, Sheng Yi slapped his hand away and shouted in a self-deprecating tone, "I understand, I understand, I understand from head to toe!"
His rosy cheeks, coupled with his stubborn insistence on arguing even when he was wrong, made him so adorable that you wanted to take a bite. Thinking this, he did just that.
"Oh." Wen Shili reached out and pinched her cheek, then pecked her lips. "Let's not fight anymore, okay?"
Huh, are they arguing? When? Sheng Yi thought to herself, but said aloud, "Isn't that what you asked for?"
"I was wrong." His voice was soft, and his attitude of admitting his mistake was extremely sincere. After saying that, he shook her hand again, "Don't ignore me."
"What did you do wrong?" Sheng Yi wanted to laugh inwardly, but deliberately kept her face tense.
Wen Shili glanced at her, a rare look of hesitation on his face, and whispered a few words into her ear.
His warm breath brushed against her earlobe. This man, this man is really... incomprehensible! Her face flushed red like a spilled palette, her ears turning bright red. All her accusations were swallowed back down by his lips.
The room was sweltering; everything was heating up.
The jumble of thoughts was violently swept away, and waves of tingling sensations, like electric currents, coursed through Sheng Yi's body. Suddenly, she remembered the glance he had given her across the crowd at the banquet.
Yes, she guessed perfectly. However, she once again became a lamb willingly walking into the tiger's den.
