New Year

New Year

On the first working day of the new year, I was woken up by the vibration of my cell phone.

It wasn't an alarm clock, it was Brother Chen sending three WeChat messages in a row. The first two were schedules, and a preview of the New Year special episode of "Seaside Slow House" just released on the official Weibo account, titled "Relive the Heart-Stirring Moments on the Island." Zhao Yin's arm reached out and gently wrapped around my waist from behind. "What are you looking at? You woke up and didn't even call me."

I couldn't help but shrink my neck and held the phone in front of him. "Brother Chen sent a preview. The official Weibo account is quite good at selecting pictures."

Zhao Yin's eyes fell on the screen. He didn't say anything, but tightened his arms around my waist.

"We have to go to the station to record a New Year's greeting video today," I turned sideways and lay face to face with him. "Brother Chen said we should gather at ten o'clock. It's already half past eight. It's time to get up."

He hummed, but didn't move. Instead, he reached out and pulled me closer to him. "Lie down for another five minutes."

I know his temper. He seems cold, but he is actually a bit clingy in nature, especially when he just wakes up.

I had no choice but to follow his wishes and put my arms around his waist, feeling some of his firm muscles.

The last time I accompanied him to the gym, the coach said that he had good core strength training. I stubbornly said "it's just so-so", but in fact I had been secretly watching him for a long time.

"Oh, right," I thought, looking up at him. "Mom called yesterday and told us to come home for dinner on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. She made dumplings stuffed with shepherd's purse, which you like."

Zhao Yin paused, "Do you remember?"

"Of course I remember," I couldn't help laughing. "You ate twenty of them last winter solstice and said they were better than the ones in restaurants."

He didn't refute, but just reached out and pinched my face: "Then leave early and avoid traffic jams."

I nodded in response and was about to say something to him when my phone vibrated again. This time it was the WeChat notification tone, a special attention reminder from my secondary account.

I had an idea and secretly hid my phone under the quilt, but Zhao Yin still saw it.

"Reading fan comments again?" He raised his eyebrows, a hint of sarcasm in his tone.

My face flushed and I quickly shook my head: "No, I was just checking the work group messages."

He didn't expose me, he just reached out and took my phone and unlocked the screen. He knew all my passwords, including the one for my secondary account. I watched him open my secondary account.

The Weibo post was very simple, just a photo: the silhouette of him covering my hands on New Year’s Eve, with the caption “It’s so warm to have you in the new year.”

The comments below have exploded, with CP fans filling it with "Ahhh Happy New Year". Some people even took screenshots of the New Year's Eve photos released by Zhao Yin's studio and said that our scarves are couple's.

"They have sharp eyes," Zhao Yin smiled and returned the phone to me. "This scarf was clearly bought last year."

"Who said it wasn't?" I took the phone and couldn't help but complain, "Last time we wore the same color shirts, they even picked it out and said it was a couple's outfit, and even said you helped me button my collar."

Zhao Yin didn't say anything, just got up from the bed and walked to the closet to get his clothes.

"What are you daydreaming about?" He turned around and looked at me, holding two pajamas in his hands, one is my light blue and the other is his dark gray. "Hurry up and get up and wash up, otherwise you will be late."

I said "Oh" and quickly got up. As soon as I walked to his side, he reached out and ruffled my hair: "Your hair is messy, I'll help you blow it out later."

When I came out after washing up, Zhao Yin had already taken out the hair dryer and placed it on the dressing table while it was plugged in.

I walked over and sat on the chair. He stood behind me, reached out and picked up the hair dryer, turned it to the warm air setting, and gently lifted my hair.

His movements were very gentle, and his fingertips would occasionally touch me, which was a little itchy, and I couldn't help but shrink my neck.

He chuckled softly, and his voice came from above his head: "Don't move, it will be fine soon."

I stayed still and closed my eyes. Last time I was recording a variety show, there was a segment where the guests were blowing each other's hair. When Zhao Yin was helping me blow my hair, the camera captured it very clearly.

Later, fans edited that video into the "Xiyouyin" CP collection, with the title "Top Stream's Exclusive Blow-drying Service".

"Okay," Zhao Yin turned off the hair dryer and pushed my hair back. "See how it goes?"

I opened my eyes and looked at myself in the mirror.

My hair is blown very fluffy and has a natural curve, which is the look I like.

I looked back at him and couldn't help laughing: "Brother Yin, with your skills, it would be a shame if you didn't open a barber shop." (I'm so handsome)

He didn't laugh, but just reached out and pinched my face: "You are the only one who knows how to make jokes. Hurry up and change your clothes. I'll make breakfast."

I nodded in response and watched him walk out of the bedroom before picking up my phone, opening my second account, and finding a screenshot of the "Xiyouyin" New Year special trailer that a fan had just posted.

I couldn't help but post a new Weibo post on my second account: "My first good morning of the new year: a blow-drying service from someone, and shepherd's purse dumplings coming soon. I'm very satisfied."

As soon as we posted it, we received a lot of comments from fans, most of whom wished us a happy new year, and some CP fans also posted "I'm so happy" below.

I replied to a few of them with a smile, and just as I was about to quit, I heard Zhao Yin calling me from the kitchen: "Breakfast is ready, come and eat."

I quickly stuffed my phone into my pocket, got up and walked to the kitchen.

"How did you know I wanted to drink milk?" I walked over, sat at the dining table, and watched him push the milk in front of me.

"I guessed it," he said, sitting across from me. "Drink it quickly. It won't taste good if it gets cold."

I nodded, picked up the milk and took a sip. It was just the sweetness I liked.

I looked up at him and found him looking at me.

"What are you looking at?" I felt a little embarrassed by his gaze, so I quickly lowered my head and pretended to drink milk.

"Nothing," he smiled, picked up his chopsticks and picked up a fried egg for me, "Eat quickly, or you'll be late."

I said "hmm", picked up my chopsticks and started eating breakfast.

After breakfast, we packed up and drove to the TV station. There was a bit of traffic on the way, and Zhao Yin was afraid I would be bored, so he turned on some music. It was the single I released last year.

I turned my head to look at him and found that he was humming along with the music.

"You can sing my song?" I was a little surprised because I had never heard him sing before.

He hummed, his eyes looking forward, "I heard you sing it last time in the recording studio, and I wrote it down."

My heart warmed and I couldn't help but reach out and hold his hand.

"Oh right," I remembered something, "I have another invitation for a variety show next month, it's about food, and Brother Chen asked me if I want to take it."

"What variety show?" he asked.

"It's called 'A Bite of China,'" I said. "The guests will go to different cities together to find delicious food and cook it themselves."

He was silent for a while before speaking: "I'll ask my assistant to check the schedule. If the time is right, we can pick it up together."

My eyes lit up: "Really?"

"Yeah," he nodded, "I can take you to eat the hot pot restaurant you mentioned last time."

I couldn't help but laugh, because I just mentioned casually last time that I wanted to eat Chongqing's traditional hot pot, but I didn't expect him to have written it down.

"Brother Yin, you are so nice," I leaned back in my chair and looked at him.

His words made my heart sweet, and I couldn't help but reach out and hug his arm: "Brother Yin, meeting you is the luckiest thing in my life."

He didn't say anything, just reached out and touched my hair, comforting a clingy puppy.

When we arrived at the TV station, Brother Chen was already waiting for us at the door.

He saw us and came over with a smile: "You are finally here. The director was just asking about it."

"There's a bit of a traffic jam on the road," Zhao Yin said calmly, "Shall we go in now?"

"Yes," Brother Chen nodded, "Let's go to the dressing room first. The makeup artist is ready."

We followed Brother Chen inside, and just as we reached the corner of the corridor, we heard someone calling my name.

I looked back and saw that it was Lin Wei, the actress I had worked with last year.

"Wenxi, long time no see," Lin Wei came over and greeted me with a smile, "Is this Teacher Zhao Yin? I've heard a lot about you."

Zhao Yin said "hmm" as a response.

I know his temper. He's always cold to people he doesn't know well, so I quickly tried to smooth things over: "Sister Lin Wei, are you here to record the New Year's greetings video too?"

"Yeah," Lin Wei nodded, "It happens to be the same time slot as yours. We can have dinner together after the recording is finished."

I was about to agree when I heard Zhao Yin say, "No, we have something else to do after we finish recording."

Lin Wei was stunned for a moment, probably because she didn't expect Zhao Yin to be so direct.

I quickly explained: "I'm sorry, Sister Lin Wei, we are going to the movies tonight, let's make an appointment next time."

Lin Wei smiled and said, "It's okay, let's make an appointment next time."

After saying that, she turned and left.

I looked at her back and couldn't help but look back at Zhao Yin: "Why don't you let me have dinner with her?"

"Nothing," he said. "I don't want you to get too close to her."

I was stunned for a moment before I realized that he was jealous.

I couldn't help but laugh: "Brother Yin, why are you still jealous? Sister Lin Wei and I are just ordinary friends."

He didn't say anything, but reached out and pinched my face and said, "Let's go to the dressing room."

Because of jealousy over trivial matters, one will want to possess the other person.

Arriving at the makeup room, the makeup artist was already ready. I sat in a chair, looking at myself in the mirror, and suddenly remembered the first time I'd done my makeup with Zhao Yin, during the filming of "Slow House by the Sea" last year. Back then, I was so nervous I couldn't even look at him. Now, I can sit with him calmly and even joke with him.

"What are you thinking about?" Zhao Yin sat on the chair next to me and looked at me.

"Nothing," I smiled, "I just remembered the first time I put on makeup with you when we were filming a variety show last year. I was very nervous at the time."

"Not nervous now?"

"Yeah," I nodded, "I'm not nervous anymore when you're here."

He smiled and said nothing more.

After finishing our makeup, we went to the recording site. The director explained the process to us, which was actually very simple: just wishing the audience a happy new year and chatting about our work plans for the new year.

When it was our turn, I was a little nervous and my hands clenched unconsciously.

"Hello everyone, I'm Wenxi," I smiled at the camera, "In the new year, I wish you all a happy new year and all the best. I also hope you like my new works this year."

After saying that, I looked at Zhao Yin.

He faced the camera, his tone calm but with a hint of sincerity: "Hello everyone, I'm Zhao Yin. In the new year, I wish you all good health and happiness for your families. Also, this year I will be collaborating with Wen Xi on a new drama, and I hope everyone will look forward to it."

As soon as he finished speaking, applause broke out at the scene.

I was a little surprised because we haven't officially announced that we will be working together on a new drama.

After the recording was finished, as soon as we walked out of the recording site, we were surrounded by reporters.

One of the reporters asked, "Teacher Zhao Yin, you just said you're going to collaborate with Teacher Wen Xi on a new drama. Can you tell us what type of drama it is?"

Zhao Yin glanced at me before speaking, "It's an urban romance drama. The specific details are still being prepared. I'll announce it to everyone once they're finalized."

Another reporter asked, "Do you have a good relationship with Teacher Wenxi in private? I often see you two attending events together."

Zhao Yin didn't hesitate and answered directly: "We are very good friends, very good partners, and even more so, partners."

The reporters wanted to ask something else, but Brother Chen quickly came over and stood in front of us: "Sorry, we have something else to do. Let's talk next time."

After that, he led us outside. After we got in the car, I couldn't help but ask Zhao Yin, "Why did you suddenly say in the live broadcast that we are collaborating on a new drama? We haven't confirmed it yet."

"It's confirmed," he said. "I talked to the director yesterday and he's already reading the script."

I was a little surprised: "Really? What kind of drama is that?"

"It's an urban romance drama," he said. "My character is a doctor, and your character is a designer. We met by chance and gradually got together."

Me: "That sounds great. I've never played a designer before."

"Yeah," he nodded, "There are a lot of sweet scenes in the script, which I think is perfect for us."

My face flushed, knowing what he meant by "suitable for us". I couldn't help but reach out and pinch his face: "Brother Yin, you are getting better and better at speaking."

He didn't refute me, but just reached out and held my hand, saying, "Once the script is finalized, we'll study the lines together and try to make this drama a success."

I nodded in response, but in my heart I was thinking, how nice it is to have him by my side in the new year.

The car drove to the entrance of the cinema, and after we got out, we walked in. Because it was a weekday, there were not many people in the cinema, so we chose a seat near the back and bought a bucket of popcorn and two cups of Coke.

After the movie started, I leaned on Zhao Yin's shoulder and stared at the screen.

He probably noticed it, and reached out to pull me closer to him. "Don't you understand?"

"Ah? No, I understand," I quickly came back to my senses and pretended to look at the screen carefully, "I just thought the plot was a little touching."

He didn't say anything, just reached out and ruffled my hair and continued watching the movie.

Halfway through the movie, I felt a little hungry, so I picked up some popcorn and stuffed it into my mouth.

After eating a few, I heard Zhao Yin say, "Eat slowly, don't choke."

I nodded and was about to take another one when I saw him reach out, pick up a popcorn and hand it to my mouth.

“Mmm, it’s delicious!”

"As long as you like it."
