Official Announcement
The morning after the official announcement, I was woken up by the vibration of my phone.
The screen was densely packed with messages. Sister Ling had sent more than 20 unread messages. The last one was "You two are so bold! Fifteen of the top 20 trending searches are yours. The team is already controlling the comments." It was followed by three crazy expressions.
I rubbed my eyes and scrolled down, and saw a WeChat message sent by Zhao Yin at three in the morning: "Don't panic, I'm here." Attached was a screenshot of his studio's work group, which was full of messages saying "Protect Brother Yin and Teacher Wenxi."
I stared at the line for a while.
Just as I was about to reply to Zhao Yin, I suddenly heard my mother's voice calling me from the living room, two pitches higher than usual: "Xiao Xi! Come down here!"
My heart skipped a beat and I ran barefoot to the stairs. I saw my mother sitting on the sofa with a cell phone in her hand and she looked unhappy.
My father stood beside me, frowning, holding the newspaper he had just bought that morning. The entertainment section headline had a photo of Zhao Yin and I holding hands, and the title was in bold black letters: "Top star Zhao Yin and movie star Wen Xi officially announced their relationship, setting off a 'Xi You Yin' craze in the entertainment industry."
"Mom..." I walked downstairs slowly, "You know everything?"
My mother didn't say anything and handed me the phone.
On the screen was a Weibo post I posted yesterday. The number of comments had already exceeded 100,000, and the one at the top was my mother's comment: "Why haven't I seen this bracelet before? Was it a gift from Xiao Zhao?" followed by a puzzled expression.
My face flushed instantly, and I quickly pushed the phone back: "It's just... a gift from an ordinary friend."
"Ordinary friends?" My mother finally spoke, her voice a little heavy. "Would an ordinary friend announce their relationship with you on a livestream? Would an ordinary friend stare at your window downstairs in the middle of the night? Xiaoxi, tell me the truth, how long have you and Xiao Zhao been together?"
My dad pulled my mom's arm and said, "Don't be so excited. Listen to the child first."
He turned to look at me, his eyes more serious than usual. "Xiao Xi, do you know what it means to make your relationship public, given your current status? There are so many mixed opinions online, some support you, some oppose you. You and Xiao Zhao are both public figures, so your future will be very difficult."
I lowered my head, scratching the corner of the sofa with my fingers, my voice a little hoarse: "I know, but Brother Yin and I are serious. It's not a momentary impulse. I really like you."
"Seriously?" My mom sighed. "How old are you? Relationships are never that simple. Xiao Zhao is two years older than you and a bit more mature, but you're both in the entertainment industry, so it's normal for you to be apart more often than you are together. What will you do if something goes wrong in the future?"
I was about to speak when my phone suddenly rang. It was Zhao Yin calling. I glanced at my parents and answered the phone. His voice was a little weak: "Hello?"
"Are you awake?" His voice came through the receiver, steady and calm, as if it could calm people's hearts. "I'm downstairs at your house. Auntie just sent me a message saying she wanted to talk to me."
I was stunned for a moment, then turned to look out the window. There was a black car parked downstairs, and Zhao Yin was standing next to it. He had brought something for my parents. My mother came over, heard his voice, and said into the phone, "Xiao Zhao, come up. We also want to talk to you."
After hanging up the phone, my mother got up and went to the kitchen: "I'll go get you some water." My father patted my shoulder: "Don't be nervous, Xiao Zhao is a reliable child, we just want to chat with him, nothing else."
I nodded, but I was still a little panicked. I walked to the door and was about to open it when the doorbell rang. I took a deep breath and opened the door. Zhao Yin was standing at the door with a smile on his face. He handed me a paper bag in his hand: "Auntie likes to eat red bean paste cake, uncle likes to drink Longjing tea, I bought them specially this morning."
"You're quite considerate." My mother came out of the kitchen and took the paper bag. "Come in, don't stand at the door."
Zhao Yin walked in, changed his shoes, and sat down on the sofa next to me naturally. My dad put the newspaper on the coffee table and looked at him: "Xiao Zhao, we all know about you and Xiao Xi. We are not against you, but we want to ask you, have you two seriously considered the future?"
Zhao Yin sat up straight and said seriously, "Uncle and aunt, Wenxi and I are serious. I had already made up my mind before we made it public. No matter what problems we encounter in the future, I will protect him and will not let him suffer any grievances. I know that the nature of our work is special, and it is inevitable that we will be apart more often than together, but I will try my best to adjust my schedule and spend more time with him. Moreover, I have already told my parents, and they support us."
"Your parents know about this too?" My mother was a little surprised. "Don't they have any objections?"
"My mom was a little worried at first, worried that we would be under too much pressure. But after I talked to her and told her that Wenxi and I were very happy together, she felt relieved." Zhao Yin smiled and turned to look at me. "My mom also said that when she's free, she wants to invite Wenxi to dinner at our house."
I was stunned for a moment and turned to look at him. He had never told me about his parents before, and I thought he hadn't had time to tell me, but I didn't expect he had already made arrangements.
My dad nodded and picked up the Longjing tea on the coffee table. "You're quite thoughtful. Xiaoxi looks mature, but he's actually quite childish at heart. Sometimes he gets stuck in a rut. If he does something wrong in the future, you should be more tolerant of him."
"Dad!" I was a little unconvinced, "How could I be so childish?"
Zhao Yin smiled and reached out to ruffle my hair. "He's a good guy. Sometimes he gets stubborn, which is cute. Don't worry, uncle. I will take good care of him."
My mother brought some water over and placed it in front of us. "Xiao Zhao, we're relieved that you feel this way. Xiaoxi has been sensible since he was young, and he handles everything on his own. Sometimes it's heartbreaking to see him like that. With you by his side, we'll have less to worry about."
"Don't worry, Auntie. I will." Zhao Yin picked up the water cup and took a sip. "Actually, I've known Wenxi for five years. Five years ago, at the awards ceremony, he won the Best Newcomer Award. While he was speaking on stage, his hands were shaking, but he still thanked everyone very sincerely. At that time, I thought this kid was quite interesting. Later, I started paying attention to him, watching his dramas and listening to his songs. I found that he was very confused in private. He would mistake salt for sugar and secretly eat snacks while memorizing his lines. I thought he was even more adorable."
I listened to him repeat what he said yesterday, my face flushed a little, and I quickly lowered my head. My mother smiled and said, "You're quite observant. That's the good thing about Xiaoxi. He's very serious with everyone. But sometimes he takes things too seriously and ends up exhausting himself."
"I know." Zhao Yin turned to look at me, a little tenderness in his eyes. "I will remind him in the future to not be so tired."
After chatting for a while, my mother got up and went to the kitchen: "It's almost noon, you two can eat here, I'll go cook a few dishes."
"Auntie, let me help you." Zhao Yin stood up and followed my mother into the kitchen. My father looked at their backs and said to me with a smile, "Xiao Zhao is really good to you. You must get along well with him in the future and stop throwing tantrums."
"I'm not throwing a tantrum." I muttered softly, but I felt sweet inside.
When I walked to the kitchen door, I saw Zhao Yin helping my mother pick vegetables with great skill. My mother smiled and said, "I didn't expect you could cook."
"I know a little bit. I usually cook it myself at home." Zhao Yin put the selected vegetables on the plate. "Wenxi likes sweet and sour fish. I'll make it for you later to try and see if it suits your taste."
"Okay, I'd really like to try your cooking." My mother smiled from ear to ear, "Xiaoxi also likes the braised pork ribs I make. If you are free next time, come to my house and eat."
I leaned against the door frame and watched them chatting happily.
During lunch, my mother kept serving food to Zhao Yin: "Xiao Zhao, eat more. You seem to have lost some weight recently. Are you too tired from work?"
"It's okay. I'm just a little busy lately because I'm working on a script." Zhao Yin took the dish from my mother and said, "Thank you, Auntie. You can eat too." He turned around and gave me a piece of sweet and sour fish. "Eat more of what you like."
My dad and Zhao Yin talked about playing chess. My dad said, "I lost badly the last time I played chess with you. Next time you're free, let's play two more games."
"Okay, I'm always here for you." Zhao Yin smiled, "But uncle, I won't let you go next time."
"Hey, kid, you are quite confident." My father patted his shoulder and smiled happily.
After dinner, Zhao Yin helped my mother clean up the dishes. My father sat on the sofa reading the newspaper. I walked into the kitchen and saw Zhao Yin washing dishes. His movements were very quick. I walked over and gently hugged his waist from behind: "Brother Yin, thank you."
He turned around and touched my head: "Thank me for what?"
"Thank you for saying those words to my parents. Thank you for caring about me so much." I buried my head in his arms, my voice a little muffled.
"Silly girl, I don't care who you care about." He patted my back gently. "I'm here with you. Don't carry everything on your own. Talk to me, or talk to your uncle and aunt. It's all good."
I nodded.
In the afternoon, Zhao Yin had to go to the studio to take care of some things, so I walked him downstairs. He opened the car door and turned to look at me: "I'll pick you up tonight and take you somewhere."
"Where?" I asked curiously.
"You'll know when the time comes." He smiled, came over, and kissed me gently on the forehead. "Be good and wait for me at home."
I nodded and watched his car slowly drive away. When I got home, my mother came over and said with a smile, "Xiao Zhao is really good to you. You have to seize the opportunity."
"I know." I sat on the sofa, picked up my phone and turned on the second account.
The latest comment was from a fan asking: "Xixi, how are you and Brother Yin doing now? Did your uncle and aunt agree?"
I edited a reply: "Everything is fine, thank you for your concern." I attached a photo of the sky outside the window, blue sky and white clouds, very comfortable.
As soon as I sent it, I received a WeChat message from Zhao Yin: "What are you doing?"
"Chatting with my mom." I replied with a smiley face.
"Auntie didn't say anything about you, did she?" he asked.
"No, she also said that she wants you to come to her house for dinner more often in the future." I thought about it and added, "My mother seems to like you very much."
"Of course, I'm so good at pleasing my elders." He replied with a smug expression, "Remember to wear something warm at night, it's a bit cold."
"knew."
I put down my phone and leaned back on the sofa, thinking that making the relationship public wasn't that scary. With Zhao Yin by my side, the support of my parents, and the care of my fans, it seemed like any difficulty could be overcome.
In the evening, Zhao Yin came to pick me up on time.
He opened the car door and I saw a small cake with two candles on it. "What day is it today?" I asked curiously.
"It's not a special day, I just wanted to give you a surprise." He started the car, "I'll take you to see the stars."
The car drove for about an hour and stopped on the top of a mountain. It was very quiet here, without the hustle and bustle of the city, only the stars shining in the sky.
Zhao Yin opened the trunk, took out a blanket, and spread it on the ground: "Come and sit."
I walked over and sat on the blanket.
He put his arm around my shoulders and said, "Look, aren't the stars here brighter than in the city?"
I looked up at the sky, which was dotted with stars. "Yeah, it's beautiful."
"If you're tired in the future, let's come here to look at the stars and relax." He rested his chin on my head and said softly, "No matter what happens in the future, I will always be by your side."
I leaned in his arms and listened to his heartbeat.
This is great. With him by my side and the stars as my companions, all my worries will disappear.
"Brother Yin." I called him softly.
"Hmm?" he responded.
"I seem to love you more and more." I looked up at him.
He lowered his head and kissed my forehead: "Me too."
He will always be with me, like a star, and will never be absent.
