Chapter 16 The Wounded Beastman

As the figure with long, slender legs stepped out of the room, a tall, strong, and handsome male appeared before Ling Yunxi.

The male before me had long blue hair, golden eyes, pale skin, and a cool demeanor. He seemed distant, yet also exuded a subtle gentleness.

He caught a glimpse of Ling Yunxi's wary gaze, and a hint of surprise flashed in his golden eyes.

To avoid angering her, he deliberately lowered his voice, "My lady, it is I, Xiao Mingyan."

He moved closer to the light in the yard, revealing his cold, stern face.

He looked at her with a hint of apology in his eyes, his clear yet husky voice saying, "I'm sorry, Mistress, I startled you..."

Ling Yunxi then got a clear look at the male in front of her—

Xiao Mingyan was a beast husband specially selected for her by her father from the Abandoned Beast Domain because the original owner was struggling to find a male from various tribes.

He is not only incredibly handsome but also extremely powerful, but he is usually taciturn.

Since being chosen to come to the wolf clan, he has been responsible for the original owner's daily food and lodging.

However, the original owner did not appreciate it. Because he had been a stray beast, he felt annoyed whenever he saw him.

Whenever she's in a bad mood or is rejected by other men, she takes it out on him.

Aside from injuries sustained while hunting, the other wounds on his body were scars left from when the original owner whipped him with a thorn whip.

Despite this, he never resisted, letting the original owner beat and scold him every day.

His existence made the original owner unable to hold his head up in front of the wolf clan, but he was also reluctant to give up this free labor.

Thinking of this, Ling Yunxi frowned, put one hand to her forehead, and looked awkwardly at the male in front of her. The bone knife she was holding in her hand, which was on the animal skin bag, was quietly released.

"It's alright, you... are back."

"Um……"

When Xiao Mingyan returned, he thought she had gone to bed early, so he rested in the room for a while. However, he did not expect to hear hurried footsteps outside shortly after he sat down.

He stood up abruptly, alert, and watched as the door creaked open.

The moment I opened the door, I realized she had gone out and seemed to have taken a shower, though the sweat from running back had covered it.

But the fragrance she exuded after her bath was still there.

A barely perceptible hint of worry flashed deep within his golden eyes as he tentatively asked, "Mistress, you've been out for so long...you haven't encountered any danger, have you?"

Ling Yunxi frowned slightly upon hearing this.

As she walked into the house, she recalled the orc hiding in the tree earlier, unsure of who had sent it.

The original owner had offended too many people, and many beastmen hated her to the core.

She looked up at Xiao Mingyan in front of her and noticed the various deep and shallow scars on his arms and chest, which were shocking to behold.

Looking into his gentle and refined eyes, one could see a chill hidden deep within, and wonder what secrets lay hidden there.

She couldn't be sure if the orc who wanted her dead was related to the one in front of her.

"No," she said softly, concealing her fear that she might have been followed by the orc hiding in the shadows.

Next, hang the animal skin bag on the wooden hooks on the wall.

Xiao Mingyan secretly breathed a sigh of relief, his tense body relaxed, and his ears perked up again. "That's good... next time the female master goes out, do you want me to accompany you?"

Ling Yunxi took out the clean animal skin clothes and said without looking at him, "No need."

Looking at the clothes in her hands, he subconsciously stepped forward and took the wet clothes from her. "This kind of thing... leave it to me."

"No……"

Ling Yunxi watched him walk briskly, and before she could finish speaking, he had already hung the clothes on the wooden pole in the yard and was carefully straightening the wrinkles on the skirt.

"Thank you." That was all she could say.

Upon hearing Ling Yunxi's thanks, Xiao Mingyan's slender hand, which was straightening his clothes, froze, his brows furrowed slightly, and his fingertips trembled slightly.

She had never spoken to him with such polite words before.

Suddenly remembering what had happened to her a few days ago, he quickly explained:

“My lady, when I heard that you had drowned, my father and I went out to look for you. We couldn’t find you upstream, so I went downstream to continue the search. Later, we met some orcs who told us that you had returned. Only then did I go back to hunting.”

"I just accidentally fell off a cliff while hunting and broke my leg so I couldn't move. After resting, I rushed back immediately, which is why I didn't come back in time to get food for my mistress."

"I'm sorry, Mistress, we were unsuccessful in catching any prey this time..."

He looked at Ling Yunxi, his eyes revealing a sincere yet pitiful expression, then closed his eyes to await her next move.

He knew that at this moment, Ling Yunxi would know that he had returned empty-handed and would be whipping him with the rattan cane on the wall.

At this moment, Ling Yunxi heard that he had fallen and recalled his series of rapid movements, but her expression remained restrained.

She came over, pulled him into the house, and forcefully pushed him down to sit in a chair.

He immediately crouched down to check, but because the room was dimly lit, he couldn't see the injuries clearly.

She gently squeezed his thin leg and asked with concern, "Where did you fall? Is it here?"

"No...it's okay, I can...move now."

When Xiao Mingyan saw Ling Yunxi, he thought she was going to assault his wound, so he quickly tried to back away despite the pain and denied it.

Seeing the veins bulging on his forehead, yet his refusal to speak, Ling Yunxi frowned.

All I could do was pinch him while secretly observing his expression.

A moment later.

"hiss--"

When I pinched the outside of his thigh, I suddenly heard him make a sound and his face turned even redder.

“This is it,” she said confidently.

"My lady, you've just returned, rest for a while," Xiao Mingyan said with concern, getting up to light the oil lamp beside him.

"Don't move." Ling Yunxi pressed him back down when she saw him get up.

"Mistress, is this...?"

Just as Xiao Mingyan was about to ask, he suddenly felt a cool sensation spreading from his thigh, which had been burning and aching, throughout his body.

In an instant, the burning pain subsided in my thigh.

Seeing Ling Yunxi's serious expression, he was surprised but remained silent, carefully feeling the magical power coursing through his body.

At this moment, Ling Yunxi was using her weak ice-type supernatural power to heal him and alleviate his pain.

She can't use her powers very flexibly yet; she can only accurately locate the wound before proceeding with the next step of treatment.

If applied to other parts of the skin, it may cause frostbite to the normal skin.

She never expected that the special abilities she had cultivated in her previous life would be useful here.

In her previous life, in order to further enhance her strength, she prepared to enter the legendary icy pool for further enhancement, but unexpectedly, she ended up in this world.

Feeling his injuries healing rapidly, Xiao Mingyan looked down at Ling Yunxi in front of him.

I was very curious; the female master didn't seem to have that fierce aura she used to have.
