Chapter 5 Mi Xia makes pig large intestine bone soup

Chapter 5 Mi Xia makes pork intestine bone soup

After taking the food, I took Mo Zhixia to a remote place to have lunch. Since I didn't have food coupons, I could only take food from the space.

She took two cartons of pure milk and two bowls of pumpkin porridge, and they ate happily. Mo Zhixia had never tasted such delicious porridge before.

The little girl now knows that no matter what her mother gives her to eat, she must keep it a secret, otherwise the delicious food will be snatched away by others, and her mother will be captured by bad guys.

After the mother and daughter finished eating, they came to the black market according to the original owner's memory. The black market was in a remote alley with two people standing at the door. Mi Xia took out a basket and said she wanted to buy something, so she was let in.

From the outside it looks like an ordinary alley, but once you come in you'll find it's interconnected and there's a person squatting every few metres.

There was a basket in front of her, covered with cloth with a small gap. She looked at it for a while before she realized that they all walked over to look at the things in the basket. If they were interested, they would stop to chat for a few words, and soon the transaction was completed and they would leave. If they were not interested, they would get up and leave without saying anything.

Mi Xia followed their example and looked around. The prices here were twice as expensive as outside if you had a ticket, and three times as expensive without a ticket. After walking around, she bought some candy. Everything else was available in the space.

When they went out, it was about 3:30 in the afternoon, and Mi Xia carried the little girl towards the ox cart.

She brought Mo Zhixia here today, so it would be inconvenient to trade on the black market, so she won’t bring the little girl with her next time.

When I got home, Zhang Hongxia and the children had already returned. Because they went to their grandmother's house today, the nephews did not go to collect grass for the pigs.

After leaving Mo Zhixia to play with her nephews, she went to the kitchen to help her sister-in-law clean the pork.

After entering the kitchen, I gave Zhang Hongxia a call.

"Now that they have this wild boar, their family can have more meals. They couldn't even imagine such a life before." Zhang Hongxia couldn't stop smiling.

"Sister-in-law, my brother and nephews work hard all day, and they are growing now, so it's good for them to eat more pork." Mi Xia said sincerely.

"Look at you, you brought home such a heavy pork leg today and made my mother very happy. She praised it to our whole family. I have to thank you, my little sister." Zhang Hongxia is now completely satisfied with Mi Xia. Who wouldn't like such a sensible sister-in-law.

Mi Xia blushed in embarrassment.

Mi Xia first took out the pig intestines and prepared to clean them.

"Why does it stink so much? It must be pig intestines. No one here uses this stuff, so it stinks no matter how you put it. Why did you bring it back?" Zhang Hongxia asked, frowning and covering her nose.

"Sister-in-law, don't think it stinks. Wait until I make it and you'll know how delicious it is when you try it." Mi Xia said as she went to get wood ash and prepared to clean the pig intestines.

There was a well in the yard. Mi Xia rubbed the pig intestines with wood ash continuously. She washed them back and forth four or five times before they were clean. She took them to the kitchen and cut them into pieces.

"Sister-in-law, go look after the children. I'll be in the kitchen. I'll show you my body tonight."

Zhang Hongxia smiled so hard that her teeth were exposed. "Girl, can you do it yourself? If not, I'll light a fire for you."

"No need, sister-in-law, just wait for the food." After Mi Xia said that, Zhang Hongxia cooked the rice and went out to look for the children.

Watching her sister-in-law leave, Mi Xia took out the bones, chopped them into pieces and soaked them in cold water for 3 minutes. Then she rinsed the soaked bones, prepared a stew pot, added water, and put the bones in.

When the water boils, a layer of blood bubbles will appear on the surface. Use a spoon to skim off the floating blood bubbles, take out the seasonings that you prepared while soaking the ribs, add onion, ginger and red dates, boil over high heat for five minutes, then cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for one hour.

Then heat up another pot and add oil. Zhang Hongxia must have been so upset when she saw how much oil was added. When the oil is 50% hot, add the scallions, ginger, and garlic. Then add the pork intestines and stir-fry. Pour in the soy sauce, add a little water and simmer for eight minutes. Add some chicken essence and serve.

It smelled so good that Mi Xia couldn't help but stretched out her hand and took a piece to eat, which burned her tongue red. She was going to make another dish of braised pork. This was the first meal she would make after coming here, so it had to be a little more substantial.

Just as I finished cooking, I heard the voices of my brother and nephews talking outside.

After waiting for a while, I added salt to the ribs and took them out of the pot. I took out the things that didn't belong now and threw them into the space. I put all the dishes on the table, then went back to the kitchen to serve rice. Zhang Hongxia came over to help.

The family sat neatly around the table. The children's eyes sparkled and they drooled at the delicious food. They seldom ate rice before, let alone meat. They were not allowed to pick up their chopsticks without the permission of the elders, but after Mi Qiu's order, everyone started to pick up their chopsticks.

Mi Xia looked at her brother's family, all of whom had happy smiles on their faces. She couldn't help but sigh that for people of this era, happiness is always so simple. Children in later generations are all spoiled, not wanting to eat this or that. Children of this era are all going to pick grass for pigs.

"What's going on, little sister?" Mi Qiu asked puzzledly.

"Try it, it's delicious." Mi Xia said as she picked up some food for the little girl and ate one for herself.

Mi Qiu picked up some food with chopsticks upon seeing this, and his eyes lit up after he put it in his mouth. He couldn't stop eating after that, which made Zhang Hongxia stunned. Mi Xia couldn't help but feel her appetite increase when she saw this.

"Little sister, your cooking skills are amazing. The food you cook is so delicious. Teach your sister-in-law later." Mi Qiu didn't put down her chopsticks while speaking.

"You complain that my cooking is not tasty, but why did you eat it for so many years? Humph." Zhang Hongxia pretended to be angry.

"No, no, how dare I? The dumplings my wife cooks are delicious." Mi Qiu felt like putting down his chopsticks to show his loyalty, which made Mi Xia grin.

The father of the child didn't know what this dish was made of, but she knew that the children saw their father eating so enthusiastically and followed suit, and they couldn't stop eating. Seeing this, Zhang Hongxia took a piece and then joined them, without even having time to talk.

Soon the two dishes and the soup were all eaten up. Brother Xiao even dipped the rice into the broth and ate it. In the end, the dishes were eaten up as if they had been washed. Mi Xia found it both funny and sad. It was all because of this era.

After dinner, Zhang Hongxia said, "Little sister, take Xia Xia to have a rest."

There were not many entertainment activities in those days, especially in the countryside, where there was not even a radio at home. After dinner, there was nothing to do except sleep.

Mi Xia responded and took the little girl to wash up.

"Mom will continue to tell you yesterday's story, okay?"

The little girl nodded gently, and she fell asleep when Mi Xia was telling her the second story.

Mi Xia flashed into the space.
