"Oh?" Yu Jiuyuan raised an eyebrow, her tone as relaxed as if she were talking about the weather. "That's not necessarily true. The Yu family has never failed to get what it wants."
Her tone was soft, even a little coquettish, but the confidence behind her words was as hard as a rock. Lin Yanran's smile faded slightly; he hadn't expected this seemingly innocent and harmless girl to speak so bluntly.
“It seems Miss Yu is quite confident,” Lin Yanran leaned forward slightly, resting her elbows on the table, her eyes sharpening. “However, you probably don’t know who’s behind us, do you?”
"The Su family," Yu Jiuyuan said casually, as if she already knew, "I still have to give Su Jingshu face."
When Su Jingshu was mentioned, Lin Yanran's eyes changed slightly, but then she regained her arrogant demeanor: "Good to know. With the Su family around, it won't be so easy for the Yu family to win."
"Is that so?" Yu Jiuyuan picked up her coffee cup, gently blew on the steam, and a cold, calculating glint flashed in her eyes. "Then we'll wait and see."
Her voice was soft, yet carried an undeniable certainty. Sunlight streamed through the glass window, illuminating her face, half bright and half shrouded in shadow, like a flower blooming on a cliff edge—beautiful, yet concealing deadly thorns.
Looking at her, Lin Yanran suddenly realized that this girl was far more complex than he had imagined. On the surface, she was innocent and harmless, like a docile little rabbit, but her ambition and scheming were clearer to everyone than anyone else's.
He suddenly smiled, this time a more genuine smile: "I'm starting to look forward to it."
Yu Jiuyuan smiled too, her dimples shallow, but her eyes were icy cold.
Very good, another interesting prey.
Whether it's Lin Yanran, the unpredictable Rong Shenghan, the aloof Xie Zhecheng, or Yuan Xu immersed in the biological world... they are all her targets, pawns she must capture in this game.
As for feelings? They were merely the most convenient weapon for her to achieve her goals.
Outside the coffee shop, a black sedan slowly drove by. In the back seat, Rong Shenghan watched the two people chatting happily through the glass window, his fingertips lightly tapping his knees, a gentle smile on his face as always, but his eyes were unfathomable.
"It seems Miss Yu has found a new target," he said softly, his tone revealing neither joy nor anger.
The driver glanced at him in the rearview mirror but didn't dare to say anything.
Rong Shenghan smiled, turned his gaze away, and looked at the fleeting street scene outside the window. This game was getting more and more interesting. He wanted to see just how far this seemingly perfect eldest daughter of the Yu family could go.
Meanwhile, in the coffee shop, Yu Jiuyuan was looking at Lin Yanran with a perfectly innocent smile: "Mr. Lin, since you've come to Saint Sakura, why don't I show you around? After all, we might become 'friends' in the future."
Lin Yanran looked at the deliberately concealed sharpness in her eyes and raised an eyebrow: "Alright, then I'll have to trouble you, Miss Yu."
The sun was shining brightly, and the wind was gentle, but a war without gunpowder had only just begun. Yu Jiuyuan knew that from today onwards, her "daily strategy guide" would have a new name added to it.
Lin Yanran.
She wanted to see just how difficult this new "conquest character" really was to tame.
