The afternoon always has a lazy tranquility, with sunlight filtering through the gaps in the sycamore leaves and casting dappled shadows on the corridor.
Yu Jiuyuan carried an exquisite rattan gift box and walked briskly towards the club activity center.
Xie Zhecheng was organizing event materials, his fingertips moving meticulously over the documents.
Hearing footsteps, he looked up at the doorway, his gaze pausing slightly when he saw the gift box in Yu Jiuyuan's hand.
"Finished with work?" Yu Jiuyuan walked over and placed the gift box in front of him. "This is for you."
Xie Zhecheng untied the ribbon on the gift box, inside which lay a sandalwood fountain pen. The pen body was polished smooth and warm, the nib gleamed with a delicate luster, and a small "Xie" character was engraved on the inside of the cap.
"You made this?" He picked up the pen, his fingertips tracing the cold wood, a hint of surprise in his voice.
"Yes, I took a day off to do it a few days ago." Yu Jiuyuan smiled. "It was just a return gift after you gave me a fountain pen last time."
What she didn't say was that she tried seven times to achieve the smooth feel he was used to in polishing the pen's nib.
His thoughts are always hidden deeper in the details.
Xie Zhecheng gripped the pen tightly, his fingertips repeatedly stroking the character "Xie," the warmth in his eyes gradually softening.
"Thank you." His voice was soft, yet more moving than any flowery words.
"I'm glad you like him." Yu Jiuyuan turned to leave, then turned back as if she remembered something. "By the way, Ji Nianqin will be at the club dinner tonight. Keep an eye on him."
Xie Zhecheng nodded: "I know."
Leaving the club center, Yu Jiuyuan headed straight for the laboratory.
Yuan Xu was hunched over a petri dish recording data, the blue-green fluorescence reflecting off his face like a dreamlike halo. "Busy?"
Yuan Xu looked up abruptly, his eyes lighting up when he saw her: "Jiu Yuan! You're here!" He pointed to the petri dish, his voice excited, "Its luminescence intensity has stabilized!"
“Great.” Yu Jiuyuan handed him another small gift box. “This is for you.”
The gift box contains a beech wood base carved into the shape of a leaf, just big enough to hold a petri dish. The edge of the base is engraved with "Yuanxu's Starlight".
"That way you won't have to worry about the petri dish tipping over all the time."
Yuan Xu picked up the base, her fingers gently tracing the fine engravings, and her eyes suddenly reddened.
He had never received such a thoughtful gift before, especially since she remembered his panic when he accidentally knocked over the petri dish last time.
"Thank you, Jiu Yuan." His voice was slightly choked, like a child who had received a precious treasure.
"Silly boy." Yu Jiuyuan ruffled his hair. "Quickly try it on to see if it fits."
Watching Yuan Xu carefully place the petri dish on the base, her face beaming with pure joy, Yu Jiuyuan felt a strange tenderness in her heart.
Perhaps, a pure soul deserves to be treated with such gentleness.
As I was leaving the lab, I bumped into Lin Yanran in the corridor.
He was wearing a basketball uniform, probably having just finished training, with beads of sweat still on his forehead. When he saw Yu Jiuyuan, he paused, his eyes darting away.
"Here you go." Yu Jiuyuan handed him the last gift box, her tone casual. "It's a reward for winning the basketball game."
Lin Yanran was stunned for a moment, and when she opened the gift box and saw the alloy wristband, her ears turned red instantly.
The inside of the wristband is engraved with a line of small characters: “Don’t be reckless.” The handwriting is elegant and carries her unique style.
"Who, who wants your reward?" he retorted stubbornly, but his hand gripped the wristband tightly, as if afraid it would be snatched away.
"If you don't want it, just throw it away." Yu Jiuyuan deliberately turned to leave.
"No!" Lin Yanran immediately stuffed the wristband into her pocket and awkwardly turned her face away. "Thanks."
Watching his retreating figure, which was practically fleeing in panic, Yu Jiuyuan couldn't help but laugh.
The proud hedgehog always hides a bit of cuteness in its soft spot, but she just likes to poke through that hard shell to see the true heart hidden inside.
Back in the student council office, Rong Shenghan was sitting in her seat looking at documents.
The golden light of the setting sun fell upon him, making his profile even more handsome. "You're back?" He looked up at her, his gaze lingering on her empty hands. "Have you given all the gifts?"
"Hmm." Yu Jiuyuan walked over and took out a bookmark that was only half-carved from her bag. "It's for you. It's not finished yet."
The words "I have long admired you" on the bookmark have been engraved, leaving a blank space next to them.
Rong Shenghan picked up the bookmark, his fingertip tracing the two words, and suddenly chuckled softly: "You only left me half?"
"Who told you to always disobey?" Yu Jiuyuan snatched the bookmark and said in a deliberately fierce tone, "I'll finish carving it for you if you behave well."
Rong Shenghan took the opportunity to grab her wrist, pulled her into his arms, and lowered his head to kiss her lips.
The kiss carried a domineering possessiveness, yet also concealed a subtle tenderness, as if declaring that even if it was just half a bookmark, he was determined to have it.
"Ji Nianqin will be at the banquet tonight," Yu Jiuyuan whispered to his lips, her fingertips tracing his Adam's apple. "What do you plan to do?"
"Just do it." Rong Shenghan bit her lip, his tone dangerously lazy. "My people can't be coveted by others."
The banquet was held in the school's banquet hall, where crystal chandeliers reflected dazzling light, and elegant greetings filled the air amidst the elegant attire and graceful conversation.
As soon as Yu Jiuyuan entered the banquet hall, Ji Nianqin walked over with a wine glass in hand, her smile warm: "Jiuyuan, you look beautiful today."
He wore a white suit, which made his figure appear even more upright, and his eyes behind the gold-rimmed glasses held a determined glint.
"Thank you." Yu Jiuyuan smiled, about to speak, when her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
