Chapter 137 Scars and Deals

Rong Shenghan's breathing became heavy, his eyes reddened, but he gritted his teeth and didn't make a sound.

He knew Yu Jiuyuan too well. This woman seemed soft, but she was tougher than anyone else at heart. What could make her bow her head was never emotion, but rather a matter of weighing the pros and cons.

Yu Jiuyuan lowered her eyes slightly, her long eyelashes casting a shadow beneath them.

She took half a step forward, looked up at Ji Luoqin, and said in a tone that was just right, feigning weakness: "Ji Luoqin, I beg you, release Rong Shenghan. Whatever you want, as long as I can do it, I will do it."

"That's a good boy." Ji Luoqin clapped her hands, signaling her subordinates to untie Rong Shenghan. "Remember this feeling, Yu Jiuyuan. What you owe me, you'll have to pay back sooner or later."

As soon as Rong Shenghan was released, he staggered over and rushed over to protect Yu Jiuyuan behind him. Although his left arm was in so much pain that he almost lost all feeling, his voice remained calm: "Let's go."

On the way back, the car was deathly silent.

Rong Shenghan leaned back in the passenger seat, his forehead covered in cold sweat, but he didn't utter a sound.

As Yu Jiuyuan drove, she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. On the system panel, his negative emotion value was still rising, reaching 110, but the favorability value column remained stubbornly at 100.

Upon arriving at the villa, Yu Jiuyuan helped him to the sofa and then turned to get the first-aid kit.

I had just squatted down to treat the wound when he grabbed my wrist.

Rong Shenghan's palms were burning hot, carrying the warmth of blood: "You shouldn't have begged him."

"I know." Yu Jiuyuan lowered her head and gently wiped his wound with an alcohol swab. "But compared to your hand, what does lowering my head matter?"

He stared at the top of her head, then suddenly laughed, a laugh tinged with self-mockery and a hint of relief: "Yu Jiuyuan, do you think I'm like Xie Zhecheng and the others, that I'll be happy just because you coax me a few times?"

“It’s different.” Yu Jiuyuan raised her eyes, her fingertips tracing his bleeding brow bone. “You are all very important to me.”

This statement is half true and half false.

They are indeed important, after all, they are all "pets" she has carefully cultivated, and the game would lose its luster if any one of them were missing.

But to say how much they care is debatable.

Just like now, she feels sorry for his bleeding wound, but more so because the scar would affect his "appearance".

Rong Shenghan believed it.

Or rather, he is willing to believe it.

He grabbed her wrist with his other hand, pulled her onto his lap, and, ignoring the pain from his wound, lowered his head and kissed her. The kiss was tinged with the taste of blood and suppressed emotions, so intense it felt like they were about to devour each other.

"Don't do this again next time." He pressed his forehead against hers, his voice hoarse. "I'd rather die in pain myself than see you begging others."

"Okay." Yu Jiuyuan readily agreed, reaching out to wrap her arms around his neck and deepening the kiss.

By the time the wound was treated, it was already dark.

Yu Jiuyuan sent Yuan Xu a message saying that something came up and she couldn't go to the lab. Yuan Xu replied instantly, "It's okay, I'll put the fungus in the incubator and show it to you tomorrow," along with a sparkling emoji.

She sent Xie Zhecheng another message: "I'll look at the speech tomorrow, I'm a little tired tonight." She quickly received a reply: "Get some rest," followed by a period, revealing his unique seriousness.

Finally, looking at Lin Yanran's chat box, it remained at the "I understand" message from noon.

Yu Jiuyuan thought for a moment, took a picture of Rong Shenghan's arm wrapped in bandages, hid his face, and sent it: "My friend is injured, the equestrian club may have to be rescheduled this weekend."

Not long after, I received a brief reply: "Is it serious? Do you need me to call a doctor?"

Yu Jiuyuan smiled and replied, "No need, it's already taken care of," then put down her phone and walked to the bedside.

Rong Shenghan was already asleep, but his brows were still furrowed, as if he was having a bad dream.

She reached out and smoothed his brow, her fingertips lightly tracing the stubble on his chin.

The system panel popped up automatically, with the four names neatly arranged.

Hsieh Che-cheng's positive emotion score remained stable at 108.

Yuan Xu's score is still at a full 100.

Lin Yanran's positive emotion value quietly rose to 25.

As for Rong Shenghan... negative 110, favorability 100, the two extreme numbers confront each other on the panel, like a silent declaration.

Yu Jiuyuan turned off the panel, lay down next to Rong Shenghan, and was instinctively pulled into his arms.

The faint scent of blood and the familiar smell of ebony lingered around her nose. She closed her eyes, a faint smile playing on her lips.

Ji Luoqin's appearance was like a pebble thrown into a lake, creating ripples as expected.

But there's nothing wrong with that. After all, only "pets" that have weathered storms can truly understand the importance of relying on their owners for security.

This taming game is finally about to enter an even more interesting phase.
