As night fell over the villa, Rong Shenghan was sitting on the velvet sofa in the living room, flipping through documents.
The floor lamp cast a warm yellow glow on him, and the cast on his left arm had been removed, leaving only a shallow scar, like a lurking silver snake.
Hearing the noise from the entrance, he looked up, his gaze falling on Yu Jiuyuan's hair, which was damp with night dew, but he didn't say anything.
Yu Jiuyuan paused in her action of changing her shoes.
This vice president, who was usually good at hiding her emotions, now even the way she gripped the document with her fingertips revealed a deliberate coldness, clearly knowing that she and Ji Nianqin had a "pleasant chat" in the student council office that afternoon.
"What are you looking at?"
She walked over and naturally sat on his lap, hooking her fingertips around his tie and pulling it toward her.
The cashmere tie rubbed against his Adam's apple, sending a slight shiver down his spine, but he remained expressionless, his gaze fixed on the documents.
"Where the Su family's funds are flowing."
Rong Shenghan's voice was flat, as if he were reporting on work, "Ji Luoqin used shell companies to transfer three sums of money, all of which went to the account of the western suburbs factory."
Yu Jiuyuan didn't reply, but instead lowered her head to kiss his scar.
The kiss mark landed on the shallow scar, with deliberate tenderness. He finally couldn't hold back anymore, reaching out to press his hand against the back of her neck, the pressure neither too light nor too heavy, like a warning, yet also like a yearning.
"I'm not going to the dinner."
He suddenly said, his breath brushing against her earlobe, carrying a hint of barely perceptible grievance, "Go yourself if you want to."
These words sounded like those of a sulking child, completely different from his usual shrewd and charming demeanor.
Yu Jiuyuan laughed, her tongue lightly brushing against his earlobe: "Jealous?"
Rong Shenghan's ears instantly turned bright red, but he stubbornly turned his face away: "I just feel unsafe. The two Ji brothers are watching you, and the Su family is..."
That's why I want you to stay home obediently.
She reached out and covered his mouth, feeling his warm breath through her fingertips. "If something happens to you, who will warm my bed?"
These words are blunt and hurtful.
Rong Shenghan's eyelashes trembled, and the hand that was pressing on the back of her neck slowly loosened, turning into a gentle caress, as if he were touching a lost treasure that had been found again.
Yu Jiuyuan knew that he had given in.
This vice president may look docile, but she has a stubborn streak deep down, especially when it comes to matters involving her, she always wants to be at the forefront.
But she doesn't need pawns to shield her; she wants them all to stay obediently in their proper places, waiting for her to reap the rewards.
"Yuan Xu had someone send over new nutrient solution, which is in the incubator in the kitchen."
She got up and walked to the bar, poured herself a glass of red wine, and said, "Finish the rest of the surveillance footage tonight, and tomorrow night..."
"I'll be waiting for you at home tomorrow night."
Rong Shenghan interrupted her, his tone filled with unwavering certainty, "No matter how late it is, I'll wait for you."
Yu Jiuyuan paused for a moment, her hand holding the wine glass still.
The system panel lit up in his mind. Rong Shenghan's favorability rating remained steadily at 100, but the positive value of his emotional fluctuations rose from 90 to 110, like ripples spreading across a deep lake after a stone was thrown in.
She turned around and looked at the man on the sofa.
He had already lowered his head to look at the documents again, his profile appearing exceptionally soft under the light, but she knew that those seemingly calm eyes concealed a stubbornness that rivaled anyone else's.
Just like when she locked him in the villa during winter break, even though he had a hundred ways to get out, he still waited for her to come back every day and warmed up her midnight snack, like a large dog that recognized its master.
"Come here." Yu Jiuyuan beckoned to him, her voice carrying a hint of lazy allure.
Rong Shenghan put down the documents and walked over. As soon as he stood still, she grabbed his tie and pressed him against the bar.
The wine glass was knocked over, and the scarlet liquid flowed down the bar, dripping onto his white shirt and leaving a dark stain, like a flower that had suddenly bloomed.
“Look,” Yu Jiuyuan’s fingertips traced the wet patch, her voice as low as a lover’s whisper, “it’s like the blood you shed when you were injured last time.”
Rong Shenghan's breathing suddenly became heavy. He reached out, picked her up, placed her on the bar, and lowered his head to kiss her.
This kiss carried a long-suppressed desire, as if he wanted to devour her whole, yet it also carried a careful tenderness, as if he was afraid of hurting her.
Yu Jiuyuan let him kiss her, her fingertips running through his hair, feeling the tension in his body.
She knew how to make him obey: give him a little reward, then set boundaries, just like training the wildest horse, making him crave the warmth of the reins while also reminding him who was holding them.
"No going out tomorrow night."
She breathed heavily on his lips, her fingertips tracing the buttons on his shirt, "I put a gun under your pillow, in case anyone breaks in..."
"No one will break in."
Rong Shenghan interrupted her, kissed the corner of her lips, and said with absolute confidence, "The security system of this villa is even stricter than that of Saint Sakura Academy."
Yu Jiuyuan smiled.
Of course she knew that this system was set up by Rong Shenghan himself, with no blind spots inside or out, not even a fly could get in.
What she wanted was not his protection, but his "obedience," to stay obediently within the circle she had drawn, and to be the pawn she could play without any trouble.
"Then I'll come back tomorrow night and see you waiting in bed."
She gently bit his chin, leaving a faint tooth mark, "Just like during winter break."
Rong Shenghan's body stiffened abruptly, and he uttered a soft "Okay" as his Adam's apple bobbed.
Moonlight streamed through the French windows, falling on the red wine stains on the bar, giving them a cold sheen.
Yu Jiuyuan leaned against Rong Shenghan's chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, and suddenly remembered what Ji Luoqin had said in the laboratory that day.
