The wind was already carrying the sweet fragrance of locust blossoms, but it couldn't dispel the solemnity in the study of the Yu family manor.
At either end of the long mahogany table, Yu Jiuyuan and her father sat facing each other. Thick documents were spread out on the table, ranging from the distribution of group shares to the appointment and dismissal of personnel in overseas branches. Every page was related to the lifeline of the Yu family for the next ten years.
"The Zhou family wants to get involved in that piece of land in the west of the city."
Yu's father tapped the land planning map with his fingertips, his tone calm, "What do you plan to do about it?"
Yu Jiuyuan didn't look at the blueprints. Instead, she pulled up an internal financial report from the Zhou family and projected it on the wall: "Their mining project in Australia recently lost 1.7 billion. Their cash flow has long been cut off. What they're doing now is just bluffing. We just need to have the Ministry of Justice release the news that they want to re-audit their tax evasion records from three years ago. Within a week, they'll have to back out on their own."
She spoke steadily, her eyes showing no hesitation, as if she were talking about something extremely ordinary.
Looking at the sharpness in his daughter's eyes, Yu's father suddenly remembered how she used to clutch a toy scepter when she was little, saying she wanted to be the "Queen of the Yu Family." A hint of relief flashed in his eyes, along with a complex emotion that was hard to detect.
"You will represent me at tomorrow's board meeting."
He pushed over a gold-embossed seal, saying, "This is the authorization seal for the core industries of the Yu family. From today onwards, you will have it."
The seal was heavy, and had a cool, metallic feel when it landed in my palm.
Yu Jiuyuan ran her fingertips over the family crest on it, then suddenly laughed: "Dad, aren't you afraid I'll ruin the Yu family?"
"You are the daughter I raised."
Yu's father stood up, straightened her collar, and said with unusual gentleness, "He's ruthless than I was back then, but also more composed."
As she stepped out of the study, the butler was waiting for her in the corridor, holding an encrypted briefcase: "Miss, this is the background check report for the head of the overseas branch that you requested."
"Put it in my car." Yu Jiuyuan took the box, then suddenly remembered something, "Oh right, have the kitchen stew a pot of bird's nest and send it to the villa."
"Is this for Young Master Rong?" the butler asked, keeping his eyes down.
"Hmm," she replied casually, then turned and walked towards the parking lot.
Rong Shenghan has been complaining of insomnia lately, probably because he's exhausted from dealing with student council and Yu family matters.
The student council office was unusually quiet in the afternoon.
Yu Jiuyuan had just finished a multinational video conference, her headphones still hanging around her neck, when she saw Lin Yanran standing at the door, holding a club activity application in her hand, her expression not very good.
"The astronomy club wants to hold a stargazing event next weekend and is applying for funding..."
"Approved." Yu Jiuyuan nodded before he could finish speaking, tapped a few times on the keyboard, and brought up the club's account balance.
"Double the budget and have them replace that old telescope. Just mention my name, and the store will give you a discount."
Lin Yanran was stunned: "How could you..."
"I saw you spending a lot of time flipping through astronomy journals last week."
She looked up at him, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Director Lin wouldn't allow himself to do what he likes while forbidding others from doing it, would he?"
He was taken aback, his ears turning red, and his fingers loosened their grip on the application form: "That's not what I meant."
"I know."
Yu Jiuyuan shut down her computer, stood up, and grabbed her coat. "I have something to do, so I'm leaving now. Xie Zhecheng has a proposal for a joint club exhibition; could you take it to him for me?"
Where are you going?
Lin Yanran blurted out, but then realized she had been abrupt and quickly lowered her head, "I meant... the student council still has some things to take care of."
"Go to the Yu Group headquarters for a board meeting."
She spoke casually, as if she were talking about going to the cafeteria for a meal, adding, "Call me if you need anything."
Watching her walk out of the office in her high heels, Lin Yanran suddenly felt that she had never really understood her.
She is the student council president of Saint Sakura Academy, the woman in the villa who can make Rong Shenghan completely obedient, and also... the heir who will soon take over the Yu family business empire.
These identities, when combined, make her seem like an unsolvable mystery.
After the board meeting ended in the evening, Yu Jiuyuan sat in the swivel chair in the president's office, gazing at the city skyline outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The setting sun dyed the clouds golden red, and the spire of the Yu's Building pierced the afterglow, like a scepter pointing straight into the sky.
She rubbed her throbbing temples and mentally called out, "System."
【Host.】
"The board meeting went more smoothly than I expected."
She said softly, her fingertips tracing the cold tabletop, "Those old foxes probably didn't expect that I would dare to dismiss three vice presidents right away."
The host's decision aligns with the principle of maximizing self-interest.
"Maximizing profits..."
Yu Jiuyuan chuckled, "Tell me, if I could use a wish to double the market value of the Yu Group within a year, wouldn't that be considered maximizing profits?"
[Theoretically, it's possible, but it could trigger market turmoil and lead to subsequent regulatory risks.]
“I was just saying.” She didn’t intend to actually do it.
She understood the principle of forcing growth; what the Yu family wanted was lasting glory, not a fleeting bubble.
"I still think it's safer to use it for the approval of overseas mining areas."
The host's judgment is logical.
"As for Ji Nianqin..."
Yu Jiuyuan thought of the man who always had a faint smile but whose eyes hid calculation. "He's been trying to trip me up behind my back a lot lately. Using my second wish to make him behave completely isn't a waste, is it?"
The target's actions pose a potential threat to the host, making the wish to eliminate that threat reasonable.
"Rationality".
She repeated the word with amusement, suddenly realizing that systems are sometimes more interesting than people. "So, for my third wish, how about exchanging it for a report on new energy investment trends? Do you think that's enough?"
