The wind carried the rich fragrance of the century-old camphor trees of St. Cherry Academy, passing through meticulously trimmed shrubs, glancing past the gilded school emblem hanging under the Roman colonnade, and finally landing on the open floor-to-ceiling window of the student council office, stirring a corner of the curtains into a delicate ripple.
Yu Jiuyuan looked down at the document in her hand, and the pen tip left the last signature on the fine paper of the report. The handwriting was sharp but neat.
Like herself, even when she is entangled in complicated affairs, she always maintains an impeccable level of refinement.
The electronic calendar on the table flashed a striking date; only one week remained until the graduation ceremony at St. Sakura Academy, and spread out in front of her was the final student council handover checklist.
"President, this is the final version of the graduate representative's speech. Please take a look."
Lin Yanran's voice rang out at the door, her initial arrogance and impatience gone, replaced by a more composed demeanor.
He was wearing the custom-made school uniform of Saint Sakura Academy, the collar of his white shirt was tied meticulously, and the cuffs were rolled up to reveal the smooth lines of his forearms. His once arrogant eyes were now softened by a subtle gentleness.
Yu Jiuyuan raised her eyes, and when her gaze fell on him, she still had that innocent and harmless look, with a just-right smile in her eyes: "Thank you for your hard work, Officer Lin."
She reached out and took the document, her fingertips brushing against his palm unintentionally. Lin Yanran's body stiffened almost imperceptibly, and the tips of his ears turned a faint red.
This subtle reaction did not escape Yu Jiuyuan's eyes. A sense of understanding flashed through her mind, but she did not stop flipping through the papers with her fingertips.
“It’s very well written,” Yu Jiuyuan said after quickly reading through it. She looked up at him with sincere eyes. “It fits the school motto of Saint Sakura and also reflects the expectations for the graduates. It meets all the requirements.”
Lin Yanran's Adam's apple bobbed, as if she wanted to say something, but she saw that the other woman had already closed the file and stood up to straighten her skirt.
Today she wore a light apricot-colored dress, which made her skin look even whiter than snow. Her long hair was loosely tied back, revealing her slender and graceful neck. Sunlight streamed through the window and fell on her, as if coating her with a layer of soft light, making people feel an irresistible urge to get closer to her.
“The handover is almost complete,” Yu Jiuyuan said gently, yet with an undeniable air of control. “I’ll leave the graduation ceremony arrangements to you and the other student council members. After all, this is the last time we’ll serve the college as student council members.”
"I understand, President." Lin Yanran nodded, but her gaze involuntarily followed her figure.
From being forced to join the student council to now willingly sharing her burdens, the nearly one year they've spent together has completely changed his opinion of this seemingly weak but actually exceptionally capable girl.
His initial arrogance and resistance gradually crumbled after witnessing her omnipotence and composure time and time again, replaced by an indescribable concern and infatuation.
He knew perfectly well that Xie Zhecheng, Rong Shenghan, Yuan Xu, and even the Ji brothers were around Yu Jiuyuan, and he also knew about the strange yet harmonious relationship between them.
He used to disdain this, believing that feelings should be unique and pure.
But when he saw Yu Jiuyuan's decisiveness in handling the Yu family affairs, her ease in her work in the student council, and her composure in dealing with them, his disdain gradually turned into curiosity, and then into an uncontrollable attraction.
Especially last time, he was called in by the Dean of Students for a mistake in handling graduate liaison work, and he thought he would be criticized by Yu Jiuyuan.
Unexpectedly, she took the initiative to stand up and shoulder some of the responsibility for him, and afterwards simply told him, "Since you're a member of the student council, I'll naturally protect you."
At that moment, a hard corner in Lin Yanran's heart completely collapsed.
He began to understand that Yu Jiuyuan's kindness was never a selfless act of giving, but rather a clear purpose and a desire for control. Even so, he was still willing to succumb to her and become one of her tamed individuals.
"What are you thinking about?" Yu Jiuyuan's voice pulled him back to reality.
Lin Yanran snapped out of her reverie, met her clear eyes, her cheeks flushed slightly, and avoided her gaze: "It's nothing, I was just thinking about the graduation ceremony's procedures and worried that something might go wrong."
Yu Jiuyuan chuckled softly, her laughter as melodious as a wind chime, yet carrying a hint of barely perceptible amusement: "Don't worry, with me here, there won't be any problems."
She walked to his side, tiptoed slightly, and leaned close to his ear, her voice low and warm: "Besides, you're so smart, you can definitely do it well, right?"
The warm breath brushed against her earlobe, and Lin Yanran's body tensed instantly, her heart pounding like a drum.
He could clearly smell the faint scent of gardenias on her, her usual perfume, elegant yet highly aggressive, just like her—seemingly harmless, yet capable of easily winning hearts.
"Mmm." He responded almost subconsciously, his voice a little hoarse.
Yu Jiuyuan watched his reaction with satisfaction, straightened up, and her smile deepened.
She could naturally sense Lin Yanran's feelings for her. From the initial low level of affection to the current steady rise, it was all under her control.
Winning over Lin Yanran was a natural progression for her; after all, no man could resist her deliberate advances and precise control.
"Alright, you can go ahead and get busy. Let me know if you have any questions." Yu Jiuyuan patted his shoulder, the gesture natural and affectionate.
Lin Yanran nodded, and her steps were somewhat unsteady as she turned to leave.
As he reached the door, he couldn't help but glance back. He saw that Yu Jiuyuan had already sat back down at her desk, working on her documents. Sunlight shone on her profile, outlining her perfect jawline, making her look focused and captivating.
