Yu Jiuyuan walked across the ginkgo-lined path covered with golden leaves, her custom-made loafers making a crisp, clear sound as smooth as her thoughts as she planned her wedding.
With only half a month left in her senior year, her schedule was compressed to three core classes per week, and she devoted the rest of her time to preparing for her wedding with Rong Shenghan.
This wedding, foreshadowed since the engagement party in the second semester of freshman year, is finally coming to a close during graduation season.
“Ms. Yu, these are samples of high-end wedding dress fabrics that have been airlifted from France. The silk blend you previously specified comes in three colors, and there are also design drawings of patterns hand-embroidered by Italian artisans.”
An assistant followed behind, pushing a custom-made jewelry box-shaped fabric container, speaking with utmost respect and not daring to show the slightest negligence.
Yu Jiuyuan stopped in her tracks, picking up a piece of milky white fabric with her fingertips. The silk shimmered in the sunlight, and the blended gold and silver threads were faintly visible. The fabric felt as delicate as a cloud.
She lowered her eyes slightly, her long eyelashes casting a light shadow under her eyelids, making her look like a gentle young woman immersed in choosing a wedding dress.
“Choose the lightest off-white color. Remove the elaborate roses from the embroidery pattern and replace it with a design of lily of the valley and thorns intertwined. Embroider fine rhinestones along the edges so that it has the effect of falling stars under the light.”
Her voice was sweet and soft, with just the right amount of coquettishness, yet her commands were precise and left no room for argument.
"And the veil, it has to be a three-meter-long single-layer tulle, with a gradient shading at the edges, and the matching gloves have to reach the elbows, with my initials embroidered on the fingertips."
The assistant quickly took notes, not daring to miss a single detail.
Everyone knows that Miss Yu, though seemingly easy to talk to, actually has almost demanding perfection requirements for everything, especially this highly anticipated wedding, where she personally decided on everything from the venue to the details.
"Mr. Rong has confirmed the wedding venue, a private estate at the foot of the Swiss Alps. Would you like to take some time to visit it?" the assistant added.
"No need."
Yu Jiuyuan withdrew her hand and put the fabric sample back into the box.
"Have Rong Shenghan check it out first. Send me the photos and detailed videos he took, and I'll confirm them remotely."
She paused.
"By the way, tell him that the floral arrangements in the manor must use white lisianthus and black calla lilies in a 7:3 ratio."
As soon as I finished speaking, my phone vibrated, and the word "baby" appeared on the screen.
Yu Jiuyuan swiped to answer the call, her voice instantly switching to a soft, sweet tone, completely different from when she had given the instructions: "Baby~"
"What are you busy with?" The voice on the other end of the phone was gentle and warm, with a reassuring magnetism. "I just received a message from my assistant. You want to change the embroidery on the wedding dress to lilies of the valley and thorns?"
"Yeah, roses are too ordinary."
Yu Jiuyuan dragged out her words in a coquettish tone, but walked slowly forward, her feet treading on fallen leaves.
"Lily of the valley represents the return of happiness, and thorns symbolize our unwavering love. How meaningful!"
Of course, she wouldn't say that the real reason she chose this pattern was because the pure white of the lily of the valley could complement her "innocent and harmless" persona, while the hidden thorns were a true reflection of her inner self.
"I'm glad you like it."
Rong Shenghan's voice was tinged with laughter.
"I've adjusted the floral arrangements at the manor according to your requirements. As for the banquet hall with the starry sky ceiling that you mentioned before, the designer has already produced the final design. I'll take you to see the 3D model tonight."
"Okay, then you can pick me up tonight, and we can go eat at that new Japanese restaurant in the south of the city?"
Yu Jiuyuan smiled, her eyes crinkling, her voice as sweet as honey.
After hanging up the phone, the smile on her face vanished instantly. She swiped her finger across the phone screen and opened an encrypted folder containing the latest updates from Xie Zhecheng, Yuan Xu, and Lin Yanran.
Xie Zhecheng, as the heir apparent of the Xie Group, has begun to take over the family affairs, but he still sends her messages every week without fail, covering everything from work updates to daily trivia.
Last night, he sent her a draft of his wedding invitation design. The font was her favorite serif font, and the gold foil design on the corners perfectly echoed the embroidery on the wedding dress she requested.
Yu Jiuyuan's fingertips swept across the screen, her gaze calm and unwavering.
Xie Zhecheng's favorability rating had already reached 100 as early as his freshman year. This cold and demanding man showed complete indulgence towards her, however.
She knew that if she asked him to give up his inheritance of the Xie family business, he would agree without hesitation.
But it meant nothing to her.
What she wanted was not a single person to depend on, but for everyone to become an embellishment in her life.
Next is Yuanxu.
That research fanatic, engrossed in biological studies, should still be in his private laboratory at Saint Sakura Academy.
He's recently been researching a new technique for cultivating preserved flowers, saying he wants to create a flower field that never fades at her wedding.
Last week, she went to see him in the lab. He was wearing a white lab coat, his face smeared with reagents, but his eyes shone brightly. He held her hand and talked on and on about the experimental principles, his tone full of undisguised joy.
Yu Jiuyuan recalled his appearance back then, and a very faint smile appeared on her lips.
Yuan Xu's world is very simple; it consists only of scientific research and herself.
She doesn't need to put in too much effort for him; just occasional responses are enough to make him devoted to her.
This pure obsession is the easiest form of "control" for her.
Finally, there's Lin Yanran.
The arrogant and haughty young master of the Lin family has now toned down his sharp edges.
He is currently preparing for a world-class jewelry exhibition and has specially designed a set of jewelry called "Kite Whisper" for her as a wedding accessory.
