Chapter 24 Before the Journey to the Snowfield

Yu Jiuyuan took the coffee, her fingertips brushing against the back of his hand unintentionally. The warmth felt like a feather gently tickling her heart. "Thank you, Vice President," she smiled, her eyes crinkling. "You're so thoughtful."

Rong Shenghan smiled, said nothing more, and turned to tidy up his things.

His seemingly casual actions precisely interrupted Xie Zhecheng's questioning and subtly closed the distance between them. His favorability rating of 43 was like a piece of jade that needed patient polishing; it couldn't be rushed, but it also couldn't be stopped.

The office fell silent for a moment, with only the faint sound of Yuan Xu adjusting the incubator and the occasional soft tapping of snowflakes against the glass outside the window.

Yu Jiuyuan leaned back in her chair, her gaze sweeping over the three of them, her mind like a finely balanced scale, constantly weighing each person's reaction.

I also heard Yuan Xu mutter to herself: "It's best to collect permafrost samples in the early morning, when microbial activity is at its highest..."

Yu Jiuyuan picked up her coffee and took a sip. The warm liquid slid down her throat, but it couldn't warm the chill in her heart. She looked out the window at the snow falling heavier and heavier, her eyes calm.

Three days later, the snow on Changbai Mountain will be thicker and the ice will be harder.

And her "taming manual" should also have a new footnote added to that pure white world.

Whether it's Xie Zhecheng's emotional fluctuations beneath a thin layer of ice, Rong Shenghan's true self behind his mask, Yuan Xu's softness beyond scientific research, or Lin Yanran's unruly edges, there's always a way to make them obedient.

The snow's light reflected in her pupils, shining like an ice-cold blade, yet it was gently concealed by a layer of tender smile, unnoticed by anyone.
