Chapter 33 Jealousy

She noticed that when Rong Shenghan spoke, his fingertips tapped lightly on the paper cup, a small gesture he made when he was thinking, but now it carried a hint of barely perceptible irritation.

There's also the system panel. The positive sentiment, which was stable at 75 just now, has dropped to 68 at some point, while the neutral sentiment has increased from 5 to 12.

An interesting thought suddenly popped into Yu Jiuyuan's mind. She stood up, dusted off her hands, and smiled at Xie Zhecheng: "Then I'll go take care of the student council matters first. Find me when you're done?"

Xie Zhecheng paused for a moment, then nodded.

As they walked with Rong Shenghan towards the dormitory, neither of them spoke. The morning mist gradually dissipated, and sunlight filtered through the pine forest, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Yu Jiuyuan deliberately slowed her pace, falling half a step behind Rong Shenghan, observing his profile.

His jawline was tauter than usual, and the corners of his mouth, which were usually slightly upturned, were now pressed into a straight line.

“Rong Shenghan,” Yu Jiuyuan suddenly spoke, her voice tinged with a hint of probing, “Are you unhappy?”

Rong Shenghan stopped and turned to look at her, his smile returning to normal: "How could that be?"

“But you look strange.” Yu Jiuyuan looked up at him, her eyes as clear as mountain spring water. “Did I do something wrong?”

She deliberately feigned ignorance, like a naive kitten, gently scratching at the other person's heart with her paws.

Rong Shenghan looked at her like this and remained silent for a few seconds. The morning breeze blew the wisps of hair on her forehead, revealing her smooth forehead. Her eyes, which always carried a smile, were now filled with "innocence," making it impossible for anyone to be angry with her.

But he just felt uncomfortable.

From hearing the members discussing last night that "Chairman Yu and President Xie stayed at the observatory until very late," to seeing her and Xie Zhecheng squatting together picking up star charts just now, and then to Xie Zhecheng's obviously strange reaction.

These fragments, pieced together, are like a tiny thorn, pricking his heart. It doesn't hurt, but it's incredibly uncomfortable.

He had always thought he could see through Yu Jiuyuan. She was intelligent, insightful, seemingly gentle, but actually aloof, like a hard core coated in sugar. But he never expected that this core would reveal such a soft side to Xie Zhecheng.

"No." Rong Shenghan finally looked away, his voice lowered. "Maybe I didn't sleep well this morning."

He turned and continued walking forward, but quickened his pace.

Yu Jiuyuan watched his retreating figure, a knowing smile playing on her lips.

On the system panel, Rong Shenghan's positive emotions had dropped to 60, neutral emotions to 15, and even negative emotions to 5.

It turns out that the unpredictable Vice President Rong can be so straightforward at times.

She quickly caught up with him, deliberately bumping his arm: "Hey, are you really angry?"

Rong Shenghan ignored her.

“Xie Zhecheng and I are just ordinary friends,” Yu Jiuyuan continued, her tone slightly coaxing. “You know what kind of person he is, cold and aloof, like a stone.”

Rong Shenghan paused in his steps.

“But you,” Yu Jiuyuan walked around to face him, looked up at him, her eyes sparkling, “that cup of soy milk was especially sweet, much better than what the cafeteria usually makes. Did you secretly add sugar?”

She deliberately brought up the soy milk to remind him that there are also special little details between them.

Looking at her face so close to his, Rong Shenghan's inexplicable irritation suddenly dissipated by most. He reached out and this time actually touched her hair, gently ruffling it: "I'm glad you like it."

His fingertips were warm, and his movements were natural and intimate.

Yu Jiuyuan watched the smile reappear in his eyes, her mind racing with calculations. Winning over Rong Shenghan was never an easy task.

Unlike Xie Zhecheng, he doesn't have obvious weaknesses, nor is he as simple-minded as Yuan Xu. He's like a deep pool of water; you never know what's hidden beneath the surface.

But that brief moment of "displeasure" gave her a clue. It turned out that even this deep pool could be rippled by her small actions.

"Where is that document?" Yu Jiuyuan pulled his sleeve and walked forward, her tone light. "Hurry up and finish it. I want to go to the back mountain with you. I heard there are wild blueberries there."

As she pulled him along, Rong Shenghan quickened his pace involuntarily. Looking at her swaying hair, the smile on his lips deepened, and the lingering gloom in his eyes completely vanished.

Perhaps, losing your temper once in a while isn't so bad.

The two figures gradually disappeared at the end of the forest path, sunlight filtering through the leaves and casting long shadows on the ground, as they nestled close together.

On the observation platform, Xie Zhecheng held the star chart that Yu Jiuyuan had touched, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the creases on it. His gaze was fixed on the direction the two had left, his eyes filled with a bewilderment that even he himself couldn't understand.

The wind in Changbai Mountain seemed a little warmer than yesterday. And this silent battle had only just begun. Yu Jiuyuan smiled as she looked at her positive mood, which had rebounded to 70 on the system panel.

It seems this vice president is quite easy to please.
