Chapter 40 Bonfire Party

Just as Yuan Xu sat down, a cheer suddenly erupted from the other side. Xie Zhecheng had finished adjusting the telescope and was calling everyone to look at Venus. Yu Jiuyuan stood up, clutching the tin box: "Shall we go take a look?"

“Mmm!” Yuan Xu nodded immediately, following behind her like a docile little tail.

Rong Shenghan watched the two figures disappear into the distance, his fingers holding the soda bottle tightening slightly before relaxing again. A faint smile played on his lips as he followed them at a leisurely pace.

A small line had already formed in front of the telescope, with members taking turns looking at it and occasionally letting out exclamations of amazement.

Xie Zhecheng stood to the side with his hands behind his back, like a strict proctor, but when he saw Yu Jiuyuan, his eyes softened noticeably, and he even offered his seat: "You go first."

"President Xie, please go first." Yu Jiuyuan smiled and gave her seat to the girl next to her. "I'm not in a hurry."

Her calm and composed demeanor, however, stirred a strange sense of loss in Xie Zhecheng.

He watched as she and Yuan Xu huddled together, pointing at Venus in the sky and whispering something. Yuan Xu smiled, revealing two small tiger teeth, and her profile was as soft as warm jade in the firelight. Suddenly, he felt that the suede cloth in his hand was a little rough.

"President Xie, it's your turn." Rong Shenghan stood next to him at some point, his tone playful. "If you don't go look soon, Venus will be covered by clouds."

Xie Zhecheng ignored him, his gaze still fixed on Yu Jiuyuan. Rong Shenghan followed his gaze and suddenly chuckled, "What, reluctant to part with her?"

"It's none of your business." Xie Zhecheng's voice turned cold, as if it were covered with a thin layer of ice.

“It’s none of my business.” Rong Shenghan’s tone remained gentle, but his eyes held a sharp edge. “But some people, if you don’t hold on tight, will be snatched away by someone else.”

After he finished speaking, he didn't look at Xie Zhecheng's suddenly tense face anymore. He turned around and walked towards Yu Jiuyuan, naturally joining her and Yuan Xu's conversation. His arm even casually rested on the back of the chair behind her, forming a subtle protective posture.

Xie Zhecheng looked at the hand resting on the back of the chair, then at Yu Jiuyuan's slender neck as she laughed with her head tilted back, and felt a tightness in his chest, making him feel suffocated.

He gripped the suede cloth in his hand, turned and walked toward the telescope, only to find that he had no interest in looking at Venus at all; all he could see was Yu Jiuyuan's image.

The campfire gradually grew stronger, and someone took out a guitar and started playing, the tune as light and cheerful as a mountain spring.

Yu Jiuyuan was pulled into a dance by the club members. Her movements were not perfect, but they were very agile, like a little deer that had wandered into the forest. Her skirt fluttered with her movements, occasionally brushing against Rong Shenghan's calves, causing a slight tingling sensation.

Yuan Xu sat by the fire, resting her chin on her hand as she watched her dance. Her eyes shone as if they held the Milky Way, and she unconsciously twirled an unroasted skewer in her hand.

Xie Zhecheng stood beside the telescope, pretending to adjust the equipment, but his gaze was fixed on her as if drawn by a string.

He precisely captured the flowing hair as she twirled, the crinkling of her eyes when she smiled, and even the unconscious tremor when a spark splattered onto her skirt—all of which he etched into his mind.

On the system panel, Xie Zhecheng's positive emotions had surged to 98, while his negative emotions had completely disappeared, leaving only his neutral emotions at 8, like a bitten apple core, huddled alone in a corner.

Rong Shenghan's 90s are vibrant and lively, clearly indicating that he is very satisfied with the current intimacy.

Yuan Xu's 96 is as stable as a piece of warm jade, and even her 82 favorability rating shines with a sweet glow.

As Yu Jiuyuan danced, she glanced at the three boys, each with their own thoughts, and the smile on her lips grew deeper.

A bonfire party is indeed the best occasion to bring people closer together.

Alcohol, music, flickering flames, and the night view of Changbai Mountain all became the best catalysts, allowing the thoughts hidden deep in one's heart to surge out like they had been baked, sticky and gooey, and could no longer be hidden.

As the song ended, Yu Jiuyuan returned to her seat, panting. Rong Shenghan immediately handed her a bottle of water, while Yuan Xu presented her with a freshly roasted corn. Even Xie Zhecheng walked over from beside the binoculars, holding an unopened chocolate bar. When he handed it to her, his eyes darted around, as if he were completing some arduous task.

"President Yu has become quite the hot commodity," a member joked, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Yu Jiuyuan took the chocolate, smiled at Xie Zhecheng, and said, "Thank you." She then took a bite of the corn that Yuan Xu handed her and raised her water bottle to Rong Shenghan, saying, "Thanks, Vice President."

She handled it with ease, like a seasoned animal trainer, precisely calming each restless "pet".

As night deepened, the campfire began to weaken, revealing only the dark red glow of embers. The villagers dispersed in twos and threes, leaving behind a mess.

Yu Jiuyuan helped clean up some trash. When she looked up, she found that Xie Zhecheng, Rong Shenghan, and Yuan Xu hadn't left. They stood like three stone statues in different positions, their eyes all fixed on her.

"What's wrong?" She brushed the dust off her hands and smiled. "You're reluctant to part with me?"

Yuan Xu's face flushed red, and she lowered her head, kicking at the pebbles at her feet.

Xie Zhecheng's ears turned red, and he turned around, pretending to look at the stars.

Only Rong Shenghan stepped forward, brushed a piece of grass from her hair, and said earnestly, "You're going back tomorrow, and I'm a little... reluctant to leave."

His voice was soft, yet like a feather, gently tickling the heart.

Looking at the seriousness in his eyes, Yu Jiuyuan suddenly felt that this "strategy game" might be more interesting than she had imagined. These boys, whose hearts she had stirred, were actually also gradually affecting her emotions in their own way.

"It's not like we'll never see each other again." Yu Jiuyuan smiled, took a half step back, and created some distance. "Saint Sakura Academy doesn't have long legs, so meeting up isn't difficult, is it?"
