Chapter 61 The Struggle Under the Snow Curtain

The cold December wind, carrying snowflakes, lashed against the floor-to-ceiling windows of the St. Sakura Academy library, leaving trails of water.

Yu Jiuyuan sat by the window, her fingertips tracing the pages of "The History of Celestial Evolution".

This was left in the student council office by Xie Zhecheng yesterday. On the title page were his notes marked with a fountain pen, the handwriting as sharp as if carved by a knife, and even the punctuation was impeccably precise.

"What are you looking at?" Rong Shenghan's voice came from behind him, holding two hot lattes with the Saint Sakura Academy's emblem printed on the cup sleeves.

"Yuanxu just came to ask if we should add a protective cover to the display stand for the fluorescent butterflies, in case someone bumps into them and damages them."

Yu Jiuyuan took the latte, her fingertips touching the warmth of the cup sleeve.

It was exactly her usual 65-degree angle. When she looked up, she met his smiling eyes, which reflected the snow outside the window and her own figure, like a warmth that held the essence of an entire winter.

The system panel beeped softly. Yu Jiuyuan turned to the next page of the book: "Have the logistics department add an acrylic panel with a light transmittance of over 90%, so as not to affect the viewing experience."

She paused, then added, "Lin Yanran said this morning that the student council's spare key is missing. Did you see that?"

Rong Shenghan traced a circle on the cup sleeve with his fingertip: "Here with me. He left his keychain at the registration desk yesterday, with a leopard head pendant hanging from it, which is quite like his personality."

He leaned in half a step closer, his warm breath brushing against her ear, "However... I think it's not as nice as the star trail fountain pen you gave Xie Zhecheng."

His voice carried a hint of jealousy, like a latte with a touch of sea salt—slightly astringent but with a sweet aftertaste.

Yu Jiuyuan closed the book with ease: "President Xie's fountain pen is for work purposes, and Secretary Lin's pendant... is probably to show off his 'wildness'."

Rong Shenghan: Favorability 95 (unchanged), Emotional fluctuations - Negative 1 / Neutral 8 / Positive 92 (Positive +4)

Positive emotions continue to rise, accompanied by an undisguised possessiveness.

Rong Shenghan looked at her slender fingers and suddenly remembered the strength with which she gripped his shirt, the way her knuckles turned white, which was more alluring than any other posture.

Just as he was about to say something more, a noise suddenly came from the entrance of the library.

Tang Nianzhi was standing there, holding several sheet music books. When she saw them, her eyes lit up: "Brother Shenghan! Jiuyuan! I've been looking for you for so long!"

She ran to Rong Shenghan's side and naturally took his arm. "I brought the sheet music for Brahms's Waltz. I wanted to see if it could be used at the party, Shenghan-gege. What do you think, Jiuyuan?"

Yu Jiuyuan's gaze fell on Tang Nianzhi's arm linked with Rong Shenghan's, and then on the sheet music in her arms.

The cover is gold-stamped, exactly the same as the limited edition in Xie Zhecheng's music room.

She smiled, her voice as gentle as snow: "The waltz has a light and lively rhythm, which is perfect for the opening dance." She turned to Rong Shenghan, "Have the technical department adjust the lights to a warm yellow, it matches the atmosphere of the waltz very well."

Rong Shenghan calmly withdrew his hand from Tang Nianzhi's grasp, took the sheet music, and flipped through a couple of pages: "I think Chopin's Nocturne is more suitable. Xie Zhecheng played it, and it worked very well."

When he looked up, his gaze met Yu Jiuyuan's, and he smiled knowingly. "What do you think, President?"

Rong Shenghan: Favorability rating 95→97, Emotional fluctuations—Negative 1/Neutral 8/Positive 92 (Positive +3)

Tang Nianzhi's smile froze for a moment, but she still maintained her elegance: "But Brother Shenghan once said that Brahms's music has more layers..."

“People’s preferences change.” Yu Jiuyuan interrupted her, lightly tapping the cover of “The History of Celestial Evolution” with her fingertip. “Like President Xie, he used to only read professional journals, but now he also reads popular science books like this, doesn’t he?”

As soon as she finished speaking, Xie Zhecheng appeared at the library entrance.

He was wearing a black overcoat and holding a thermos. When he saw them, he paused, his gaze shifting between Yu Jiuyuan and Rong Shenghan before finally settling on the book "History of Celestial Evolution".

“My book.” He walked over, his voice calm yet carrying an undeniable air of authority. “It contains previously unpublished star trail data.”

Yu Jiuyuan handed him the book, her fingertips deliberately brushing against the back of his hand: "Very interesting, especially the part about 'Hot Jupiter'."

When she looked up, a sly smile played in her eyes. "So even perfectionists can be interested in 'irregular tracks'."

Xie Zhecheng's ears turned slightly red, and he took the book with a slightly stiff movement: "It's just for reference."

He opened the thermos, which contained freshly brewed ginger tea. As the steam rose, he said softly, "This is for you. It's too cold in the technical department."

[Xie Zhecheng: Favorability rating 51→57, Emotional fluctuations—Negative 0/Neutral 5/Positive 105 (Positive +8)]

Looking at the cup of ginger tea, Tang Nianzhi suddenly felt like an intruder.

She forced a smile: "Since you're all busy, I won't bother you any longer. Brother Shenghan, I've left the sheet music in your office."

Watching Tang Nianzhi's departing figure, Rong Shenghan suddenly chuckled: "She probably doesn't know that President Xie's ginger tea is only brewed for specific people."

Xie Zhecheng didn't reply, but simply pushed the ginger tea towards Yu Jiuyuan, his gaze falling on the half-scarf peeking out of her coat pocket.

It was delivered by Lin Yanran this morning; it was a cream-colored cashmere, exactly the same as the one I saw in Changbai Mountain last year. He suddenly said, "I've added a new parameter to the star projection for the gala."

"Oh? What parameters?" Yu Jiuyuan took the ginger tea, feeling the warmth on her fingertips.
