After he finished speaking, he walked straight out. When he passed Rong Shenghan, their shoulders almost touched, but neither of them moved aside.
Yu Jiuyuan watched Lin Yanran's figure disappear through the door, then turned to Rong Shenghan, her gentle smile unchanged: "Vice President, you've arrived quite early today."
Rong Shenghan walked to her side, naturally picked up the hand warmer on the table and put it in her hand. When their fingertips touched, he could feel the slight coolness of her skin.
"I just submitted the schedule for next semester to the academic affairs office, and I thought I'd drop by to see if the student council president needed any help." His voice was deep and pleasant, with a hint of amusement. "Like... dealing with some of the more disobedient members?"
Yu Jiuyuan held the hand warmer, feeling the warmth slowly rising in her palms, and looked up at him.
Rong Shenghan's eyes were bright, like they held shards of light, but she could never see through what was hidden in his unfathomable pupils.
This vice president, who transferred from another school, always manages to say the most enigmatic things in the gentlest tone. Just like now, his teasing carries a hint of subtle probing.
"Yanran is just a bit straightforward, but she's actually very reliable." Her tone was calm, as if stating a fact, while her fingers gently stroked the soft fuzz on the hand warmer. "But what about you? Tang Nianzhi didn't ask you out today?"
When Tang Nianzhi was mentioned, Rong Shenghan's smile faded slightly, but remained gentle: "She took a flight back to England this afternoon and came to say goodbye this morning."
He paused, his gaze falling on Yu Jiuyuan's face. "Why are you suddenly asking about her?"
“It’s nothing.” Yu Jiuyuan lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes concealing the emotions in them. “I just feel that she is truly sincere towards you.”
On the system panel, Rong Shenghan's favorability rating remained at 100, but the positive value in the emotional fluctuation section jumped from 92 to 93.
Rong Shenghan: Favorability 100, Emotional fluctuations (Negative 1/Neutral 8/Positive 93)
Yu Jiuyuan chuckled to herself.
Sure enough, compared to a straightforward gesture of goodwill, a well-timed "step back" was more effective in touching the heartstrings of this deep-thinking vice president.
She looked up, her face once again displaying that innocent and harmless expression: "Speaking of which, have you all decided on your winter break plans?"
Before Rong Shenghan could answer, the office door was pushed open again.
Xie Zhecheng walked in carrying a stack of documents, his black suit impeccably tailored, and his eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses as cold as the snow outside the window.
He saw that Yu Jiuyuan and Rong Shenghan were standing very close together, and his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly. When he put the documents on the table, his movements were a little more forceful than usual.
"This is a summary of the final grades." His voice was cold, his gaze sweeping over the hand warmer in Yu Jiuyuan's hand before finally settling on her face. "If the president is busy, I can organize these first."
"Thank you for your hard work, President Xie." Yu Jiuyuan's tone was still gentle, but it was more distant and polite than when she had spoken to Lin Yanran and Rong Shenghan. "I'm almost done here, let's work together."
Xie Zhecheng didn't speak, but simply nodded. As he pulled out a chair and sat down, his gaze intentionally or unintentionally fell on Rong Shenghan.
A silent tension suddenly filled the air, like an undercurrent surging beneath the surface of ice.
Yu Jiuyuan pretended not to notice the subtle atmosphere between the two, flipped through the club summary sheet that Lin Yanran had just handed in, and her fingertip stopped at a certain line: "The drama club wants to hold a classic play performance next semester? That's a good idea, but the venue may need to be coordinated..."
Her voice was clear and melodious, like a gentle knife, silently breaking the silence in the office.
Xie Zhecheng pushed up his glasses and began checking the data on the grade sheet, while Rong Shenghan leaned against the table, looking at Yu Jiuyuan's serious profile with a faint smile on his lips.
The snow outside the window was falling heavier and heavier, and soon a thick layer had accumulated on the windowsill.
The school bell rang in the distance, and the noisy voices of people gradually approached and then slowly faded away.
Just then, Yuan Xu walked in carrying a transparent glass box.
The box was lined with thick cotton, and several silver-gray hamsters were curled up inside, sleeping. Their pink noses twitched slightly, making them look exceptionally cute.
"Jiuyuan, look at my newly bred dwarf hamster, isn't it cute?"
Yuan Xu's eyes sparkled like a child who had received a new toy. She walked straight to Yu Jiuyuan's side and handed her the box. "Their fur genes are very stable, making them more cold-resistant than ordinary hamsters, and suitable for keeping in winter."
His world seemed to consist only of living beings and her, and he was completely unaware of the existence of other people in the office.
Xie Zhecheng frowned as he glanced at the glass case that was very close to the documents, but ultimately said nothing.
Rong Shenghan chuckled and teased, "Yuan Xu, if you bring your precious hamster to the office again, next week's student council meeting will probably turn into a pet seminar."
Yuan Xu ignored him and focused intently on Yu Jiuyuan, her eyes almost overflowing with anticipation.
Yu Jiuyuan put down her pen, reached out and gently touched the glass box. Through the transparent plastic, she could almost feel the faint warmth emanating from inside.
"They're so cute." Her voice softened, filled with genuine laughter. "What are their names?"
"They haven't gotten up yet, can you help them get up?" Yuan Xu's eyes shone even brighter, as if they were filled with stars.
Yuan Xu: Favorability 100, Emotional fluctuations (Negative 0/Neutral 12/Positive 99)
Looking into his expectant eyes, Yu Jiuyuan suddenly had a thought.
She looked up and glanced at the three people in the office.
Xie Zhecheng looked down at the documents, his ears turning slightly red.
Rong Shenghan leaned against the table, his smile gentle.
