She exclaimed sincerely, "You're amazing, Yuan Xu."
Yuan Xu's cheeks flushed slightly as she handed her the notebook: "This is your transcript. I just went to the registrar's office to get it for you."
Yu Jiuyuan took it. He had circled all the subjects that got full marks in red pen, and drew a small smiley face next to them.
She looked up at him, and he was looking at her expectantly, like a child waiting for praise.
"Thank you." She reached out and ruffled his hair, her fingertips running through the soft strands. "Are you planning to stay in the lab during winter break?"
“Yes,” Yuan Xu nodded, her eyes filled with enthusiasm for research, “I applied to stay on campus during the winter break, planning to further optimize the gene sequence of the mimicry bacteria. However…”
He paused, then said somewhat shyly, "Can I take the day off on New Year's Eve? I'd like to have New Year's Eve dinner with you."
Yu Jiuyuan smiled: "Of course."
After leaving the biology lab, Yu Jiuyuan went straight to the student council office.
When she opened the door, Lin Yanran was sitting in her president's seat, her legs propped up on the desk, toying with a pen in her hand, her face displaying her usual arrogant expression. Seeing her enter, she raised an eyebrow and slowly lowered her legs.
"President, you've come at the perfect time. I was just looking for you." He stood up and tossed a report card onto the table. "I think I passed the student council member evaluation this semester, right?"
Yu Jiuyuan picked up the report card and looked at it. Lin Yanran's grades were not top-notch, but they were not bad either. In particular, her performance in the student council work assessment was even better than she had expected.
It seems that after being restrained by Lin's father, he has toned down his temper quite a bit.
"You passed." She placed the report card on the table, looked up at him, and asked, "What are your plans for winter break?"
"What's it to you?" Lin Yanran snorted coldly, turned to leave, but stopped at the door, her back to her, and said in a muffled voice, "My dad asked me to go to the Su family to pay New Year's respects. If you have nothing else to do..."
He paused, then said in a curt tone, "The Su family's pastries are quite good; I can bring you some."
Yu Jiuyuan watched his awkward back, a barely perceptible smile flashing in her eyes.
She knew that Lin Yanran was on good terms with the Su family, and she also knew about the power behind the Su family, but now was not the time to expose it.
“Okay,” she replied cheerfully. “I’ll be waiting.”
Lin Yanran didn't say anything more, and slammed the door as she left.
Yu Jiuyuan was the only one left in the office. She walked to the window and looked at the snow falling heavily outside.
Snowflakes fell in a flurry, covering the paths, lawns, and rooftops of the campus, as if trying to conceal the undercurrents hidden beneath the calm surface.
She took her phone out of her pocket; the screen displayed the system panel.
Hsieh Che-cheng: Favorability rating 77, Emotional fluctuations (Negative 0/Neutral 5/Positive 105)
Yuan Xu: Affection level 100, complete the walkthrough.
Lin Yanran: Favorability rating 46, emotional fluctuations (negative 0/neutral 10/positive 20)
Rong Shenghan: Favorability 100, Complete the walkthrough
Yu Jiuyuan's fingertips lightly traced across the screen, a cold smile curving her lips.
Winter break has begun, and it's time for the game to move to the next stage.
Those desires, ambitions, and secrets hidden beneath the perfect facade will eventually reveal their true nature after this heavy snow.
All she had to do was stand in front of the chessboard and watch the pieces she had "tamed" gradually move toward the ending she had set.
The snow outside the window fell heavier and heavier, enveloping the entire Saint Sakura Academy in pure white, so quiet that you could almost hear the snowflakes falling to the ground.
