Chapter 77 Warm Bed

The snow outside the window had stopped sometime ago, and moonlight streamed through the icy windowpanes, casting dappled patterns of light on the floor.

Yu Jiuyuan, wearing a velvet bathrobe, stood at the door of her second-floor bedroom, looking down at Rong Shenghan, who was still dealing with student council documents in the living room. Her fingertips unconsciously traced the cold door frame.

The fire in the fireplace had died down, with only a few dark red embers occasionally flickering in the ashes.

He sat under the floor lamp, his profile outlined in soft yellow light, his nose high and straight, his lips clearly defined, even the fingers holding the pen exuded a refined air.

It was a snowy night that should have been relaxing, but he was still busy with trivial matters related to the student council.

Yu Jiuyuan's lips curved slightly, and a barely perceptible hint of interest flashed in her eyes.

So what if the strategy is complete? Her "pet" should naturally stay where she can see it at all times.

She turned and went back to the bedroom, without turning on the light, and walked to the bedside by the moonlight coming in through the window.

The velvet quilt was soft and thick, yet it carried a coolness that had not been warmed by body heat.

Yu Jiuyuan pressed her fingertips against the blanket, feeling its slight coolness, and suddenly realized that this huge bedroom was indeed a bit empty.

A slight noise came from downstairs, probably Rong Shenghan packing up his documents.

Yu Jiuyuan walked to the top of the stairs and leaned against the carved railing to look down.

He was putting the documents into his briefcase with unhurried movements, as if he could maintain such a dignified demeanor even if the sky were to fall.

"Rong Shenghan," she said, her voice exceptionally clear in the quiet villa, carrying a hint of languor as if she had just woken up, "Come up."

Rong Shenghan looked up, his gaze landing precisely on her.

The dim light shone up from downstairs, casting a long shadow of her. The neckline of her velvet nightgown wasn't low, but one could vaguely see the delicate lines of her collarbone.

A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by his usual gentleness, a faint smile playing on his lips: "Is there anything else, Chairman?"

"Hmm." Yu Jiuyuan didn't elaborate, but turned and walked towards the bedroom, her voice drifting down, "Come in and close the door."

Rong Shenghan went upstairs as instructed, and when he opened the bedroom door, a faint aroma of white tea wafted towards him.

The room was dark, with only moonlight falling on the floor, like a layer of shattered silver.

Yu Jiuyuan was sitting on the edge of the bed, her feet on the cashmere carpet, the hem of her robe hanging loosely, revealing a small section of her fair calves.

He closed the door behind him, completely shutting out the outside light, leaving only the hazy moonlight in the room.

"The chairman is looking for me?" He stood a few steps away from the bed, his tone devoid of emotion.

Yu Jiuyuan didn't look at him, her fingertips twirling the tassels on the blanket, her voice slow and leisurely: "The bed is a bit cold."

Rong Shenghan remained silent for a moment, seemingly pondering the meaning of her words.

Under the moonlight, his eyes appeared exceptionally deep, as if some of his usual gentle facade had been peeled away, revealing a deep-seated curiosity.

After a while, he slowly spoke: "Shall I go get you a hot water bottle?"

“No need.” Yu Jiuyuan looked up at him, her eyes reflecting the moonlight, shining brightly. “Come here.”

He did as instructed and approached, stopping beside the bed.

Yu Jiuyuan looked up at him, her gaze sliding from his eyebrows and eyes to the corner of his lips, and finally landing on his hand holding the briefcase strap.

Those hands had distinct knuckles and neatly trimmed nails; they were now exerting a slight force, as if they were a little tense.

interesting.

Yu Jiuyuan chuckled inwardly.

This vice president, who always seems so composed, also has moments of tension.

She suddenly shifted further into the bed, patted the spot next to her, and said in a casual tone as if she were saying, "Come lie down for a while."

Rong Shenghan's breathing visibly paused for a moment.

He looked down at her, the moonlight falling into his eyes like a deep, dark sea.

“President,” his voice was lower than usual, with a barely perceptible hoarseness, “this doesn’t seem quite right.”

"What's inappropriate?" Yu Jiuyuan raised an eyebrow and reached out to grab his wrist.

His skin was slightly cool, and you could feel his pulse even through his thin shirt.

"We're the president and vice president of the student council, what's wrong with sharing a bed? Besides..." She deliberately dragged out her words, not finishing them, and changed the subject, lightly scratching his palm with her fingertips, "Are you scared?"

The tactic of provocation might not work on others, but it always seems to work on someone like Rong Shenghan, who appears gentle but is actually extremely competitive.

Sure enough, the hesitation in his eyes faded, replaced by a spark of interest.

He didn't refuse again and obediently let her pull him to sit on the edge of the bed.

The bed was very soft. As soon as he sat down, the mattress sank in a little, pulling him closer to Yu Jiuyuan.

The distance between them instantly closed. The crisp scent of cedar on his body, mixed with a faint smell of ink, intertwined with the scent of white tea on her body, creating a strange and reassuring atmosphere.

"Take off your shoes," Yu Jiuyuan commanded, her tone carrying an undeniable authority, yet her eyes smiled like a cunning cat.

Rong Shenghan did as instructed, taking off his leather shoes and placing them by the bedside.

He was wearing dark wool socks, with a small section of his ankle peeking out from the top, which was dazzlingly white in the moonlight.

Yu Jiuyuan looked at that ankle and suddenly found it a bit of an eyesore, so she reached out to pull off his sock.

"President?" Rong Shenghan instinctively tried to dodge, but she pressed down on his ankle.

Her fingertips were warm, and when they touched his cool skin, it felt like an electric current ran through him, making him stiffen all over.

“It’s uncomfortable to sleep in socks.” Yu Jiuyuan said matter-of-factly, and in a few quick movements, she pulled off his socks and casually tossed them at the foot of the bed.
