Chapter 86 Pre-exhibition and Mental Defense

As the morning sun pierced through the clouds, Yu Jiuyuan was choosing her clothes for the day in the dressing room.

The full-length mirror reflected her sharply tailored white suit dress, which accentuated her slender shoulders and neck.

Her neckline was slightly open, revealing a faint, almost invisible mark on her collarbone, which she had deliberately covered with concealer to avoid Xie Zhecheng having to show that restrained and stoic expression again.

"Have you made your choice?"

Rong Shenghan leaned against the door of the dressing room, already dressed for going out.

He wore a dark gray turtleneck sweater over a long black coat, which made his figure appear even more upright. The usual gentleness in his eyes was replaced by a coldness, giving him an aura that made him seem unapproachable.

Yu Jiuyuan turned around, her fingertips brushing against the buttons of her suit jacket: "How about it? Does it look like a student council president who's 'business as business'?"

Rong Shenghan smiled and walked over to straighten her tie: "That's enough." His fingertips brushed across her neck, the touch slightly cool. "You're just too serious, not like your usual seductive self."

“We’re here to see an exhibition, not to pick up people.” Yu Jiuyuan slapped his hand away and picked up the off-white cashmere shawl draped to the side. “Besides, with Xie Zhecheng here, we have to give him some face.”

"Is his pride more important than your happiness?" Rong Shenghan raised an eyebrow, his tone carrying a hint of barely perceptible sourness.

“They are all important.” Yu Jiuyuan fastened her shawl, her tone calm. “Balancing the relationships between all parties is the president’s responsibility.”

Her words were always perfectly watertight, as if she were calculating a precise abacus.

Seeing her like this, Rong Shenghan suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head: "Remember to come back soon."

"What? Are you afraid I'll be kidnapped by Xie Zhecheng?" Yu Jiuyuan looked up at him, a sly glint in her eyes.

"I'm afraid some people will stay out and not come back, leaving me alone in this empty room." Rong Shenghan lowered his head and kissed her forehead. "I'll save the warm bed spot for you."

His kiss was light, yet it carried an unmistakable possessiveness.

Yu Jiuyuan could clearly feel his arms around her waist tighten slightly, as if he was afraid she would disappear in the next second.

This man, again.

One second he's wearing a nonchalant smile, the next he can reveal a deep-seated obsession, like a contradictory combination that makes him unfathomable, yet irresistibly intriguing.

"Okay." Yu Jiuyuan pushed him away, turned around and picked up her handbag. "I'm leaving. Remember to come back early when you're done."

When I arrived at the entrance, the butler had already prepared the car.

As soon as Yu Jiuyuan opened the door, she saw Xie Zhecheng standing in the snow outside.

He was wearing a long black down jacket with the collar turned up, obscuring half his face and revealing only his sharply defined jawline and a pair of cool, aloof eyes. Seeing Yu Jiuyuan emerge, he nodded slightly: "President."

"Have you been waiting long?" Yu Jiuyuan walked down the steps, her shawl fluttering slightly in the wind.

"Soon." Xie Zhecheng turned to open the back door for her. "Lin Yanran is already in the car."

Sure enough, Lin Yanran's impatient voice came from inside the car: "Stop dawdling, are you going to leave or not?"

Yu Jiuyuan got into the car and noticed that Lin Yanran was sitting in the passenger seat, wearing a bright blue windbreaker, her hair was messy, she had obviously been called over at the last minute, and her face still looked sleepy.

"Officer Lin, looks like you didn't sleep well last night?" Yu Jiuyuan fastened her seatbelt, her tone slightly teasing.

Lin Yanran snorted and didn't turn around: "What's it to you?"

Xie Zhecheng got into the driver's seat, started the car, glanced at the rearview mirror, and lingered on Yu Jiuyuan for two seconds before slowly saying, "I've compiled the key points of the exhibition area into a document and sent it to your email."

"Thanks." Yu Jiuyuan took out her phone and, sure enough, saw the email from Xie Zhecheng.

The title is "Analysis Report on Key Exhibition Areas of the AI Exhibition," and the attached document is a PPT that is more than ten pages long, clearly marking the technological highlights and potential risks of each booth.

The obsessive-compulsive disorder of perfectionists is indeed well-deserved.

Yu Jiuyuan flipped through the PowerPoint presentation when she suddenly noticed a page marked in red: "Booth of the Su Family's Technology Company." Her fingertip paused, and she looked up at Xie Zhecheng: "The Su family is exhibiting too?"

"Hmm." Xie Zhecheng looked straight ahead, his tone flat. "Their subsidiary, 'Intelligent Core Technology,' is one of the sponsors of this exhibition, and the emotional simulation AI they are exhibiting is said to be very groundbreaking."

“Emotional simulation?” Lin Yanran suddenly turned around, her face full of disdain. “It’s just a gimmick to swindle money. No matter how sophisticated the machine is, can it match the complex emotions of a real person?”

His tone carried his usual arrogance, yet he unexpectedly hit the nail on the head.

Yu Jiuyuan smiled and said, "Whether it's a gimmick or not, you'll find out when you go and see for yourself."

Her gaze returned to her phone screen, her fingertips lightly tapping the words "Intelligent Core Technology." The Su family, as expected, couldn't resist making an appearance. Choosing an AI exhibition—was it to expand their influence, or did they have ulterior motives?

Xie Zhe, who was standing next to her, seemed to have noticed her thoughts and suddenly spoke up: "The person in charge of Zhihe Technology will also be here today. His surname is Su, and he is said to be the most valued heir of the Su family in this generation."

Yu Jiuyuan raised an eyebrow: "You know quite a lot."

“Being well-prepared is a basic requirement.” Xie Zhecheng’s tone remained calm, but a subtle emotion flashed in his eyes. “Moreover, this person… seems to have some grudge against Rong Shenghan.”

These words, like a pebble, stirred ripples in Yu Jiuyuan's heart.

She looked up at Xie Zhecheng: "How did you know?"

“I’ve seen them once before at a business cocktail party.” Xie Zhecheng turned the steering wheel, and the car smoothly rounded a bend. “The two of them didn’t speak, but their auras were very strange.”
