My love for him, in this quiet night, is like a speeding car, racing out of control.
I never imagined that after experiencing such a heavy and unbearable emotional blow, I could so quickly give my heart to another man.
Even if it's like a moth drawn to a flame, I'd gladly do it.
Unfortunately, he was so dazzling and perfect, so flawless, that I was both deeply in love with him and too cowardly to face him.
I stared at him blankly, and after what seemed like an eternity, a clear, gentle voice came from the quiet carriage: "Your heart is beating so fast."
I jolted back to my senses, and refocused my gaze on him, only to find that his eyes were already open.
"You're awake?" My heart pounded, and I moved my numb shoulders.
"Hmm—" He sat up and simply wrapped his other arm around me, pulling me into a hug.
My heart clenched, as if he were embracing not my body, but my soul.
His breathing became erratic, and I stared at him; he must have looked extremely panicked.
But he didn't look me in the eye; instead, he rested his head back on my shoulder.
"Mmm..." he sighed contentedly, his eyes closing again, "That feels better..."
I was completely immobile, sitting there blankly, initially even holding my breath.
He seemed to notice, his breath tickling my neck as he whispered with a smile, "Fool, you can breathe."
"..." My mind went blank, and the spot on my neck where his breath had brushed against felt like it was on fire, numb and trembling.
I started breathing, gasping for air a few times, then tried to control myself.
Throughout the journey, we maintained this intimate posture, remaining quiet and not uttering a single word.
But our hearts have already exchanged a thousand words.
When the Hongqi SUV arrived downstairs at my building, I slowly settled down from my dreamlike floating state.
I suddenly realized that he had been planning this for a long time.
He must have been secretly planning this from the moment he suggested picking me up on the day of the school anniversary and going to the school together.
Or perhaps, from an even earlier time—
But I don't understand, what exactly does he see in me?
Is it because I saved his life twice that he wants to repay me with his body?
Before I could sort out my thoughts, the car had already come to a smooth stop.
The next second, Su Shenglin woke up and moved away from my neck.
A wet patch appeared where their skin touched.
Although the carriage was warm, as soon as he left, my skin felt a chill, and I couldn't help but reach out and touch it.
"What's wrong... is your shoulder numb?" he asked immediately, his voice a little hoarse.
I turned to look at him and smiled. "I'm fine... How about you? Are you feeling better? If you're still not feeling well, you should see a doctor."
"Okay." He smiled gently and nodded obediently.
I pushed open the door and got out of the car, only to see him getting out from the other side as well.
"Jiang Wan." He called out to me as he walked around the back of the car, and strode over to me in a few long strides.
I stopped and looked at him, my heart still pounding.
"You don't need to worry about Gu Yanqing. As long as you've really thought it through, leave the rest to me."
This is not the first time Su Shenglin has offered to help me with my divorce.
But I will continue to refuse.
"Don't get involved in this matter. I know you're powerful and influential, and there's no trouble in this city that you can't handle. But this kind of thing can easily get you into trouble. Even if people don't say it, they'll talk behind your back. People's words are a fearsome thing."
My considerations remain the same as before.
Regardless of whether I end up with him or not, I don't want him to be involved in my previous relationship and be mistakenly accused of being a homewrecker.
Although Gu Yanqing betrayed me first, and his betrayal was even more outrageous and excessive.
He looked at me quietly without saying a word.
I know what he's thinking. He probably thinks I'm resisting him, rejecting him, and refusing to accept his kindness.
I smiled, took a deep breath, and after a brief moment of hesitation, looked at him and said, "Didn't you say you were willing to wait for me? What, can't you wait now?"
As soon as I asked that question, I knew I was trapped, with no way out.
Sure enough, Su Shenglin's calm expression instantly changed, and his eyes sparkled as he looked at me. "Jiang Wan, you mean—"
"Shh..." I was so shy and nervous that I quickly interrupted him, "I'll handle it, trust me."
He nodded, his handsome, deep-set features showing some excitement. "Okay, I believe you, and... I'll wait for you."
"Um."
"It's cold outside, you should go upstairs quickly. Call me if you need anything."
"Okay." I nodded, stepped back, and also told him, "Go back quickly, get some rest, don't overwork yourself, health is the foundation of everything."
"Okay, I'll listen to you."
"Well... bye-bye."
"Bye-Bye……"
I kept turning back to look at him, and even after I entered the security gate and stepped into the elevator, he was still standing there.
After I went upstairs and entered my home, I looked down from the balcony.
His car was still parked downstairs, but due to the angle, he couldn't see anyone else.
I leaned against the balcony, sighing quietly. Scenes from the car kept replaying in my mind, and my heart felt like it was floating on the sea, rising and falling, rippling gently.
A moment later, I got up and looked out again; the car had just driven away.
The massive, jet-black vehicle appeared and disappeared silently in the darkness, vanishing from sight.
I gathered my chaotic thoughts, returned to my room, and used work to calm my restless mind.
I drew several design drafts and worked until 11 p.m. before washing up and going to bed.
