"I'm sorry, my grandmother is sick and hospitalized. I'm at the hospital, so I'm afraid I'll have to cancel our appointment tonight." I looked at the payment receipt in my hand and walked towards the ward, my tone low.
Upon hearing this, Su Shenglin immediately asked with concern, "Is it serious? Do you need me to help you find a doctor?"
"Not for now. The doctor said it's a myocardial infarction and we'll do thrombolytic therapy first."
Which hospital?
I hesitated for a moment, but then answered, "Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital."
"Okay, you go ahead and do your work. We'll contact you if anything comes up."
"Um."
After hanging up the phone, I returned to my ward.
Grandma has just been settled in and has now regained consciousness. Doctors and nurses are giving her further examinations.
I stood quietly to the side, listening to my grandmother answer the doctor's questions, which meant she was conscious. My heart, which had been tense for so long, finally relaxed a little.
As dusk fell, it soon became pitch black.
The ward was quiet. Grandma, with an IV drip, drifted off to sleep.
My aunt got up and walked towards me, whispering, "Wanwan, you should go back. You have to go to work tomorrow."
I frowned: "Auntie, I'll stay with you tonight, you go back."
I was thinking that my aunt was getting old and her body couldn't handle staying up all night.
But my aunt insisted that I go back, saying that she had hired a caregiver to help and that there would be no problem.
I thought it would be fine if the two of us took turns, or one person for one night, so I ordered dinner for my aunt and left first.
As a result, when people are down on their luck, even drinking cold water can cause them to get stuck in their teeth.
When I got to the parking lot, I couldn't start the car no matter what I did.
This is the first time this has happened in over three years of driving this new energy vehicle.
I was extremely frustrated and was just about to call the dealership when my phone rang.
At that moment, seeing the three words "Su Shenglin" flashing on the screen, I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, as if I had finally found someone to rely on.
"Hello……"
"Are you still in the hospital?" Su Shenglin asked directly.
"Yes, I was just about to leave, what's wrong?"
"I just arrived at the hospital. Where are you? In the inpatient ward or the parking lot?"
Has Su Shenglin come to the hospital?
Holding my phone, I subconsciously looked up and searched around, and then I spotted a black Audi with a very eye-catching license plate.
A smile unconsciously crept onto my lips as I waved at the car. "I see you."
"Yes, I saw it too."
I put down my phone and waited for his car to arrive.
The Audi came to a stop, and Su Shenglin got out of the back seat.
The temperature dropped sharply today. As soon as it got dark, the temperature plummeted to below zero, and the cold wind felt like knives scraping against my face.
But when I saw him striding towards me, I suddenly felt that the biting chill had been blocked.
"Why are you here?" I asked curiously, my neck hunched against the cold.
Su Shenglin, dressed in an overcoat, was tall and elegant with a strong presence. He frowned slightly upon hearing this: "I was worried that you couldn't handle it by yourself, so I came to check on you."
I smiled and explained, "I'm not alone. My aunt is here too. She'll be staying with me tonight, so I should go home first."
Su Shenglin nodded. "Yes, it's good that someone's here."
My heart felt warm because no man had ever cared about me like this before. He remembered even the smallest things and expressed them through his actions.
Gu Yanqing has been with me for so many years, but he has never been so attentive. On the contrary, I have always been the one taking care of him.
I admit I'm starved for love, and at that moment I was genuinely touched by Su Shenglin's warmth, so I couldn't help but ask, "You haven't eaten yet, have you? I'm still hungry too..."
He smiled and asked, "What would you like to eat?"
"It's up to you, I'm fine with either."
He thought for a moment and said, "Let's have hot pot then, the seafood hot pot place you and your colleagues ate at last time."
I raised my eyebrows and looked at him with some surprise.
Do you still remember that?
Is he really jealous?
He looked at my reaction, read my thoughts, and smiled with a hint of playfulness and wickedness: "Yes, I've always remembered that you spoke highly of that person."
"..." My cheeks flushed, and I looked away.
He stopped teasing me and instead looked at my car, asking, "Whose car are you riding in? I'm fine with either."
Hearing this, I suddenly remembered something important and quickly said, "Um... my car—"
I looked embarrassed and turned around to explain, "My car broke down and won't start. I was just about to look for a dealership when you called."
Su Shenglin raised his eyebrows in surprise, then smiled and said, "What a coincidence? It seems I appeared at just the right time."
I didn't say anything, but I thought to myself that it was true.
He turned and waved, and the driver in the Audi immediately got out.
"Miss Jiang's car is broken down, could you please take care of it?"
After Su Sheng finished giving his instructions, he looked at my chin and said, "Give him the car keys."
I hesitated for a moment: "Isn't this too much trouble..."
"Ms. Jiang, it's no trouble at all. I'll just wait for the people from the 4S store to come over."
The young man reached out his hand to me, so I had no choice but to hand him my car keys.
"Come on, get in the car. Look at you, your nose is running from the cold." Su Shenglin reached out and put his arm around my shoulder, leading me towards his car.
My heart skipped a beat, and I turned to look at his large hand resting on my shoulder. It was a pair of beautiful hands with well-defined knuckles and a clean, slender shape.
My heart was still warming up. I snapped out of my daze, touched my nose, and glanced up at him: "There's no snot."
He looked down at me and smiled, "Silly girl, you believe everything I say."
Realizing I'd been tricked again, I glanced at him sideways and remained silent.
His car was still running, and as soon as I got in, it was warm and cozy, and I immediately relaxed.
Su Shenglin fastened his seatbelt and asked me for the address of the hot pot restaurant.
