Yang Qianmu and Xiao Yingtao took me to the ward.
It is a spacious and luxurious family hospital room.
"Sister Wan, I'll stay with you tonight," Xiao Yingtao said immediately upon seeing the accompanying bed next to her.
I frowned and said without hesitation, "No need. I'm too sick to get out of bed. I can manage on my own. Besides, I might be able to be discharged this afternoon."
I still don't want to be hospitalized.
Especially after running into Su Shenglin in the corridor just now, I feel even more resistant to this place.
I'm afraid that if I stay here, I might run into him.
Then he showed that same cold, unfamiliar attitude, and my heart shattered into pieces again.
I'm more afraid of—
I was afraid that, taking advantage of my illness and vulnerability, I would be unable to resist showing weakness, taking the initiative to speak, and trying to win him back when we met again.
If that happens, our relationship will become even more complicated.
So I prayed that when the test results came out, I would be fine and could be discharged immediately.
"Mr. Yang, we'll need you to stay at the company. Xiao Yingtao is here to keep me company, so you should go back." I lay down on the hospital bed, looked at Yang Qianmu, and politely asked him to leave first.
Yang Qianmu looked at me, his eyes seeming to say something, but after a moment of silence, he finally nodded: "Okay, then I'll go back first. If you need any help, have Cherry call me."
"Yes, thank you. You've really gone to a lot of trouble today."
Ever since I had a frank conversation with him last time, he has become noticeably more distant from me.
But today I unexpectedly fainted, and he took me to the hospital, taking care of me like a baby. I felt that he couldn't help but care about me again.
Therefore, I can only subtly express my stance once again.
Yang Qianmu turned and left, and I relaxed a bit.
I always feel uncomfortable when there are members of the opposite sex around.
Xiao Yingtao stared at the door of the ward, and when she looked away, she looked at me and whispered, "President Yang does have feelings for you in that way. Ever since you broke up with Mr. Su, the way he looks at you has become bolder and bolder."
I was startled. "Is it that obvious?"
"Um!"
I thought to myself, thank goodness I brought things up sooner.
Little Cherry's eyes darted around. "Sister Wan, you could try accepting Mr. Yang. We're in the same industry and share the same goals, wouldn't that be great?"
I gave her a cold look, feigning the authority of a boss, and said, "You've gotten quite bold lately, daring to play matchmaker for people."
Little Cherry shrugged in fright and immediately apologized. After a while, she said indignantly, "I was just thinking about running into Mr. Su earlier. He clearly saw you sitting in a wheelchair and knew you might be sick or feeling unwell, but he didn't even say a word of concern and just left so coldly. I felt so..."
Little Cherry grew angrier and angrier as she spoke, gritting her teeth inwardly, extremely unwilling to accept defeat.
"I think you should start dating someone else right away, make him nervous, and see if he really can just stop loving you like that!"
"Naive!" I scolded, then lay down and sighed, saying calmly, "Being like strangers is the best arrangement. If we were to stay entangled and reluctant to part, that would be even more deadly."
Little Cherry sighed helplessly, "I just can't accept it. They love each other so much and are such a perfect match."
I closed my eyes, pretended to be asleep, and didn't respond.
Love and compatibility are meaningless compared to staying together.
True love and compatibility lie in being able to stay together.
I only intended to close my eyes and pretend to sleep, but I actually fell asleep.
After some time, Little Cherry woke me up.
"What's wrong? Can I be discharged now?" I opened my eyes and asked as soon as I opened my mouth.
Little Cherry shook her head. "No, the doctor has arrived."
I quickly turned around, and sure enough, two people in white coats came in.
"Ms. Jiang, this is your medical report." The doctor handed me the report, and before I could even read what it said, he said something surprising: "You're pregnant. Fainting is probably related to the body's discomfort in early pregnancy."
A buzzing sound filled my ears, and my mind felt like it had been struck by lightning!
I didn't even have time to read what was written on the report before I stared at the doctor in disbelief. "What did you say? I'm pregnant?"
"Yes, you are pregnant very early. However, your physical condition is not very good. You have high blood pressure, anemia, and high cholesterol—I wonder if it's because you've been working late into the night? This physical condition is not conducive to a healthy pregnancy. If you are considering keeping the baby, you need to take good care of your body. If you don't want the baby, I suggest you have an abortion as soon as possible, and then take good care of yourself during your postpartum period."
The doctor was swift and efficient; before I could even process this earth-shattering news, he rattled off a whole bunch of instructions.
Fortunately, Little Cherry is clever.
She must have noticed that I was confused, so she stood up and said to the doctor, "Can we think about this carefully before making a decision?"
"Okay, get some rest. You'll need to do other tests later." The doctor left these two words of advice and turned to leave.
"Sister Wan, Sister Wan?" Little Cherry called me several times, but I didn't respond, so she had to nudge me.
That's when I came to my senses.
"Cherry, did you hear what the doctor said just now?" I stared blankly at her and asked slowly, word by word.
"I heard you." Cherry gripped my arm tightly. "Sister Wan, you're pregnant."
She paused for a moment, then continued, "The child... is Mr. Su's, right?"
My mind went blank again, and it seemed that I just realized who the child's father was.
There was no one else but Su Shenglin.
They play pranks on people.
I broke up with him after so much trouble, and now we don't even greet each other when we meet. But God played such a cruel joke on me—sending a little life into my belly.
