Chapter 184 Father and Son Meet

"Did I say I wanted to fight?"

"..." What does that mean? I stared at him, and after a moment of silence, I understood.

He probably wanted to take the child back home to meet his elders.

But what if the elders like the child so much that they want to keep it?

“Su Shenglin, I understand what you mean, but I think it’s too risky to do this. Your Su family has a prominent position, and too many eyes are watching. If you suddenly bring a child back, it will definitely be discovered. It will not be good for your reputation or the child.”

Before I could finish speaking, his face grew even more gloomy.

I felt a surge of nervousness, clenched my fist, and then compromised a bit. "Wait a bit, at least until your family accepts the news and is willing to take the child back. Then you can find an opportunity to bring him back, and try... not to let too many people know."

Su Shenglin looked at me, then at the child, and seemed to understand something. He asked, "Are you still planning to take him away?"

I nodded. "Yes."

"You're dreaming!" Su Shenglin uttered three words directly, cutting off my escape route.

“Su Shenglin, I have nothing in China…” I also got a little angry and was about to argue with him when my son in the stroller suddenly pouted and burst into tears.

"Kang Kang is awake?" I immediately bent down and patted him gently, intending to coax the little guy to sleep a little longer, but he cried harder and harder until he was fully awake.

I had no choice but to pick up the child.

Su Shenglin stood just two steps away from the stroller. From the moment he heard the baby cry, his face and body froze.

As soon as I picked up the child, he couldn't help but step forward, raising his arms as if he also wanted to hold the child.

But babies who are a little over one year old are grumpy when they wake up and will only cling to their mothers and the people closest to them.

The little one clung tightly to my neck, sobbing uncontrollably.

Su Shenglin was nervous and at a loss. "Why is he crying? Is he feeling unwell?"

I glanced at him and saw that he was worried and flustered, and his previous imposing manner vanished instantly. I felt quite sorry for him—he was just a father meeting his child for the first time.

My attitude changed as well, and I explained in a low voice, "Children are like this when they first wake up; they'll be fine in a little while."

He nodded and continued to stand to one side, his eyes fixed on the child.

After a while, the little guy calmed down and looked around from my shoulder.

Unfamiliar surroundings, unfamiliar...people.

Kang Kang looked around, and finally his gaze settled on Su Shenglin.

The little guy's eyes were still wet with tears, and his lips were slightly pouting. When he saw Su Shenglin, he remained calm and his eyes did not move.

Su Shenglin, like him, and the two of them just stared at each other.

I don't understand what my son is thinking, but I can see that innate warmth in his eyes.

He may not understand what blood ties and kinship are, nor what genetic inheritance is, but he certainly knows that he likes the "uncle" in front of him.

I don't hate Su Shenglin, because our breakup was caused by unforeseen external factors.

He has never done anything to wrong me.

So I didn't want to stop them from recognizing each other, and I gently coaxed my son, saying, "Kang Kang, he is your father, call him Dad."

My son has grown up but has never met his father.

His language skills are average. When he first encountered this word, he seemed unable to learn it. He moved his mouth but couldn't make a sound.

“He has good motor skills; he learned to walk at eleven months old, but his language skills are a little lacking. He can’t say ‘Dad’ yet,” I said to Su Shenglin in a low voice.

"It's okay." Su Shenglin continued to stare at the child, unconcerned about the situation, and asked excitedly, "Can I hold him?"

I looked at my son. "Let Daddy give you a hug, okay?"

Su Shenglin reached out his hand towards his son.

The little guy looked bewildered, stared at me for a while, then turned to look at Su Shenglin, and then reached out his little hand.

I was extremely surprised.

He accepted it so quickly on our first meeting!

Su Shenglin looked surprised, his eyes brightening noticeably. He then grabbed his son by the armpits and pulled him into his arms.

"Kang Kang, is your name Kang Kang?"

"Kang Kang is my nickname, given to me by my maternal grandmother. My formal name is Jiang Yixiao."

I explained in detail which two characters it was.

Su Shenglin looked at me and asked, "Did you choose your given name?"

"Hmm," I nodded, then asked shyly, "What, doesn't it sound good?"

Su Shenglin didn't answer, but just tilted his head and continued to coax his son into talking.

He stopped putting pressure on me, and I immediately relaxed a lot.

Once I relaxed, I realized I was both tired and hungry.

After a flight of more than ten hours, I was traveling with my child and couldn't get a good night's sleep at all.

After returning, I went straight from the airport to the hospital, and from the moment I received Li Yunwei's call, my nerves were constantly on edge.

I'm so tired.

I sat down to relax, but then I remembered that I hadn't unpacked my luggage and my son must be hungry, so I decided to make him some milk first.

"You stay with him, I'll go wash the bottles." It's good to have someone help take care of him, I said, and then went to rummage through the baby bag.

I was washing baby bottles in the kitchen and making formula when Su Shenglin came in carrying his son.

"Have you been taking care of him all by yourself these past few years?"

"Um."

"It must have been tough."

"Um."

"When you were in such a hurry to sell the company and run away, did you already know you were pregnant?"

"Um."

"What do you mean by just 'uh-huh'?" Su Shenglin protested, dissatisfied. "Can't you say a few more words?"

I prepared the formula, screwed the cap on, and started shaking it. I looked at him and said, "This is the only answer I can give to your questions. If you insist on blaming me for not telling you, I don't know how to explain it, but given the circumstances, I couldn't tell you."
