Chapter 19 My Filter of Su Shenglin

I was taken aback and quickly got out of the car. "I'm sorry, Butler Zhou, the car was so comfortable that I accidentally fell asleep. You should have woken me up."

"Miss Jiang, there's no need to be nervous. The second young master told us not to call out to you, saying you must be overworked and exhausted," Butler Zhou replied with a smile, gesturing for me to come in.

I followed, carrying the coat bag, still pondering Butler Zhou's words.

"I fell asleep in the car, and Master Su knew that?"

Good heavens! This is utterly shameful.

"Yes, when your car arrived, the Second Young Master was just about to leave when we ran into you. The driver said you were asleep in the car, and the Second Young Master glanced at you and told us not to wake you."

What?

Su Shenglin even glanced at me?

I was completely flustered, and I instinctively reached out and touched the corner of my mouth—I didn't drool, did I?

I'm really going to die...

Upon seeing Madam Su, I hurriedly explained why I was late, but Madam Su interrupted me as soon as I opened my mouth.

"It's alright. It's not easy for you young people to work hard. It's all very tough. It's my fault for not meeting you sooner. Time is too short, which is why you're so tired."

Mrs. Su was exceptionally polite and even made excuses for me.

I felt even more embarrassed. "Madam, it's not your fault. I've been quite busy with things at home lately. But don't worry, I won't delay your birthday banquet. I put a lot of effort into making the clothes."

"Yes, I believe you."

I showed the design drawings and the preliminary sample to Mrs. Su, and made some adjustments to the details according to her requirements.

I was busy until almost noon, and finally we managed to communicate all the requirements.

"Xiao Jiang, why don't you have lunch at home? It's already noon." Mrs. Su addressed me more warmly as she invited me again.

I apologized profusely: "Thank you for your kindness, but I was going to visit my grandmother at noon today. I had already made plans with her. I'm really sorry."

"That's true. We should spend time with our elders on weekends. It's my fault for not managing my time well, making you work overtime on the weekend."

I offended them again, but instead of getting angry, they comforted me.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I really wouldn't believe there are such good people.

After saying goodbye to Madam Su, I packed my things and left Su Garden.

Just as I was about to get into the car, a black Audi slowly drove up.

"The second young master is back." Butler Zhou stepped forward with a smile.

A slight warmth welled up in my heart, and the image of that elegant and refined figure floated into my mind. I inexplicably longed to see him again.

But I didn't dare show it, so I just stood awkwardly by the door of the Red Flag car, clutching the things in my arms.

The Audi came to a stop, and Butler Zhou stepped forward to open the car door. Su Shenglin, dressed in casual sportswear and exuding an elegant air, stepped out of the car gracefully.

"It's already noon, Miss Jiang, won't you stay for lunch?" Su Shenglin asked gently when he saw me.

Only then did I look up and see him.

He must have gone to play ball; his handsome face still showed signs of post-exercise flush, making his dark eyes appear even brighter, and his gaze made people inexplicably nervous.

"No, I have a family dinner at noon, it was arranged a long time ago." I replied with a smile, unaware that I was deliberately trying to be more ladylike when I spoke.

“Yes, it’s time to spend with family on the weekend.” He nodded, agreeing with Mrs. Su.

We weren't close, and our social circles didn't overlap.

Once this topic was discussed, the atmosphere became awkward.

My gaze naturally fell to the ground as well.

As my gaze fell, it slid across his waist, and I was reminded of the last time I measured his body, that "grab" that could only be described as the act of a female hooligan.

My gaze suddenly found itself unsure where to rest.

"How are the clothes? Is the old lady satisfied?"

Su Shenglin spoke again, and I was startled and came back to my senses, responding with a "Hmm?"

Seeing that I was lost in thought, he smiled and gently tapped his chin on the cloak he was holding in front of me.

"Oh!" I suddenly realized and quickly replied, "It's fine, but some details need to be adjusted. I'll go back and revise it."

As soon as I finished speaking, as if afraid that people would think my skills were not good enough, I quickly added, "I will hurry up and make sure it doesn't delay Madam's birthday banquet."

"Okay, no rush. If you don't have enough time, just do two sets first. Your health is the most important thing. Don't overwork yourself."

His words of advice reminded me of the embarrassing incident of falling asleep in the car on my way here that morning, and I immediately felt ashamed.

Su Shenglin noticed my embarrassment and took two steps forward with his tall body: "Since Miss Jiang has an appointment at noon, then we won't insist that she stay. We can talk about it another day."

I snapped out of my daze and nodded repeatedly, "Okay, goodbye Mr. Su."

"goodbye."

I got into the car, and to my surprise, he came up and personally closed the car door for me, waving at me through the car window.

I wonder if I have too much of a bias against rich people.

I feel that every movement, whether it's a smile or a frown, a stillness or a movement, or even just a strand of hair being blown by the wind, looks exceptionally different on him.

That kind of refined manners ingrained in their very being, that innate nobility and elegance, that effortless thoughtfulness—I admire and respect them so much.

The red flag started and slowly drove away.

As if possessed, I turned around and looked back.

Su Shenglin was still standing at the door, watching me leave.

My heart was filled with a restless heat, and I also had some indescribable feelings.

But his aloofness and noble status made me dare not even try to discern what those feelings were.

————

When we arrived at my maternal grandmother's house, my aunt and the nanny had already prepared lunch.

I've been so busy these days that I haven't been able to sit down and enjoy a proper meal in a long time. Seeing the sumptuous feast in front of me fills me with warmth.

During the meal, my aunt asked me about the auction.
