"Who asked for your help?" I chuckled coldly, mockingly saying, "Stop trying to make yourself look good. Even if you force it on me, I won't take a single penny. Using your money to redeem my mother's jade bracelet would only taint her path to reincarnation."
"Jiang Wan, why are you speaking so viciously now?" Gu Yanqing was both hurt and angry.
"Ha, my words may be vicious, but your actions are far more wicked than my words."
I angrily uttered those words, not wanting to hear another one from him, and promptly ended the call.
I was so angry I almost lost it!
However, as I calmed down, my bad feeling grew stronger.
If Gu Yanqing knows about this, Jiang Yi will likely find out as well.
Given her habit of always taking what I love, she'll definitely try to take this jade bracelet from me.
no!
I can't let Jiang Yi take this bracelet away.
I need to prepare enough money.
But there are only two days left. Where can I borrow money?
I was extremely anxious and momentarily lost my composure, but I quickly forced myself to calm down.
My mother taught me from a young age that I should not panic or act rashly when faced with problems. Only by remaining calm and composed can I come up with a solution.
Suddenly, as I looked at the evening gown that was almost finished, a bold idea popped into my head...
Su Shenglin.
He was the most powerful and influential person I could get my hands on; he must be rich.
But we don't know each other at all, and our social statuses are vastly different.
If I were to be so audacious as to ask someone for money, would I be arrested as a mental patient?
I'm torn between my own feelings and my inner turmoil.
But after only a moment's hesitation, I made up my mind—to borrow it!
At worst, they won't agree, they'll just ridicule me, and the cooperation will fall through.
But what if they agree?
That solved the problem that had been bothering me!
But I don't have Su Shenglin's contact information, so I can only contact him through Butler Zhou.
The next morning, I called Butler Zhou and told him that the design for Mr. Su's clothes was finished and I needed to show it to him so I could make any changes if there were any problems.
A few minutes later, Butler Zhou replied to me.
"Miss Jiang, the Second Young Master is going out in a little while. He told you to go directly to the company to find him."
"Okay, the company address is—"
Everyone in the city knows that the Su family is noble, prominent, and mysterious, but few people know what kind of business the Su family does or where their company is located.
I don't know either.
"Is it convenient for you to write this down now?"
"It's convenient."
I immediately found some sticky notes and wrote down the address that Butler Zhou had given me.
He added, "Go to the opposite side of this address and you will find the Second Young Master. Someone will greet you at the door."
"Okay, thank you, Butler Zhou."
After hanging up the phone, I used my phone's navigation app to enter the address, zoomed in on the map, and wanted to see what company was on the other side.
However, the map shows that the opposite side is empty.
My suspicions resurfaced, and I felt that Su Shenglin's work was shrouded in mystery.
After packing my things, I quickly set off.
After driving for an hour to reach my destination, I found the address opposite the housekeeper's place as instructed, and stared in disbelief.
The gate in front of me may seem ordinary, but the magnificent, gilded characters on it command respect.
Weaponry and Equipment Research Institute.
No wonder it wasn't showing up on the map!
It turned out to be a military factory! A top-secret unit!
As I hesitated, a guard came out from the sentry post at the entrance. "Excuse me, are you Ms. Jiang Wan?"
Still reeling from the shock, I snapped out of it and nodded: "Yes, do you need to see my ID?"
"Yes, I will."
The other person nodded, and I immediately took out my ID card.
After the guard checked me, he handed the office back to me with both hands, then turned and pointed: "Go straight in, that tallest building is Chairman Su's office, his secretary is waiting downstairs."
Okay, thank you.
The electric gate slowly opened, and I drove in, following the signs to find the tallest building.
The eight solemn and neat red characters on that building—"Strengthen the military and serve the country; strengthen enterprises and enrich the people"—intensified my sense of awe and reverence.
As the car approached, there were indeed people waiting downstairs.
I've seen that person before.
The last time I went to Su Garden, when Su Shenglin and I were talking at the entrance, it was that person who came up to remind Su Shenglin that it was time to leave.
I parked the car and got out with my briefcase.
"Hello, Ms. Jiang, my name is Ji Ming, and I am Chairman Su's secretary." The other party was very polite as he stepped forward to introduce himself.
I responded politely, "Hello, Secretary Ji, thank you for your help."
He led me into the building, and after scanning my face, we passed through the gate and headed towards the elevator lobby.
“Miss Jiang, Mr. Su is busy right now, you’ll probably have to wait a while,” Ji Ming said to me as we entered the elevator.
I smiled and said, "It's alright. I was too abrupt and disturbed Mr. Su's work."
Upon reaching the top floor and exiting the elevator, you are greeted by a very clean and spacious office area.
When the employees saw Ji Ming, they all greeted him respectfully.
After all, she is the chairman's secretary, a true senior executive of the company, second only to the chairman.
"Miss Jiang, please wait here for a moment. I will let you know when Chairman Su is finished." Ji Ming led me to sit down in the reception room and gave me instructions.
"OK, thanks."
The reception room has all-glass walls, with a frosted finish in the middle area and blinds for privacy.
After I sat down, I inadvertently discovered that I could see into the office next door through the gaps in the blinds.
Upon closer inspection, the person sitting behind the large desk with a deep and reserved expression, exuding a cold and dignified aura, was none other than Su Shenglin.
The glass provides excellent sound insulation; I can't hear a thing they're saying on the other end.
