Chapter 6 The wedding was ridiculed by everyone.

"Jiang Wan, if anything happens to her, I'd like to see how you explain yourself!" Gu Yanqing warned me with a gloomy expression, then turned and strode away with Jiang Yi in his arms.

I stood there in a daze for a while, my mind filled with Gu Yanqing's cruel and angry face towards me.

The vows we made to each other now seem especially ironic—when exactly did he change his mind? I hadn't even noticed.

I was trapped in an abyss of pain until Little Cherry came in and asked me with concern if I was alright, which brought me back to reality.

It's not worth being heartbroken and suffering for such a scumbag. I'll cheer up and keep working.

Around noon, my phone rang.

When I saw it was Tang Xiu'e calling, I hung up immediately.

Not long after, the phone rang again.

This time it was my dad who called.

A suspicion arose in my mind: Could it be that Jiang Yi couldn't hold on? Had she died?

After hesitating for a few seconds, I answered the call.

Unexpectedly, as soon as I put the phone to my ear, my dad's thunderous roar vibrated my eardrums like a lion's roar.

"Jiang Wan! You are absolutely heartless! Jiang Yi was already weak, and you still hit her and pushed her to the ground!"

I put my phone away and waited for them to finish yelling before calmly saying, "I have CCTV footage in my office. I can show you the truth of the matter."

But I know that even if they see it, they will still blame me.

Sure enough, my dad said matter-of-factly, "Does the truth matter? What matters is that your sister has a terminal illness, and you don't care about her at all, nor do you show any humility!"

I'm too lazy to argue anymore; saying anything more would just be a waste of breath.

Seeing that I didn't say anything, my dad lost interest in scolding me and said after a while, "Forget it, Jiang Yi wants you to be the officiant at her wedding. You're free that day anyway, so just help her out."

"If you're not afraid I'll ruin her wedding, then I'll go."

My dad was silent for a moment, then said, "Didn't you want company shares? As long as you obediently act as the officiant at this wedding, I'll transfer the shares that originally belonged to your mother to you."

I was taken aback.

I've tried countless methods to fight for those shares that originally belonged to my mother over the years, but I haven't been able to get even a single cent.

Now he's willing to give me everything?

"Transfer half to my name first, and then transfer the other half after the wedding," I said, afraid he might pull some tricks.

“…Okay, whatever you say.” My dad hesitated for a moment before agreeing, then paused and added through gritted teeth, “You’re just like your mother, insatiable.”

I retorted, "That's better than me being as heartless and ungrateful as you."

Jiang Yi's fall made her already weak body even worse.

She was only able to get out of bed and walk properly on her wedding day.

The wedding dress that I sewed myself was custom-made to my measurements.

Jiang Yi had lost a lot of weight due to her serious illness, which made her wedding dress look a bit too big on her chest and waist.

"Jiang Wan's craftsmanship is nothing special. She boasts about winning so many international awards every day, but she can't even make the right size for a dress." Tang Xiu'e complained disdainfully as she looked at the wedding dress her daughter was wearing.

I retorted without hesitation, "This was made to fit my body perfectly. You're taking someone else's stuff and then being picky."

"you--"

"Mom..." Jiang Yi pulled Tang Xiu'e aside and said softly, "Don't blame your sister. It's okay if she's a little older. It'll be easier for her to put on and take off her clothes."

After saying this, Jiang Yi turned to me and smiled sweetly, "Sister, thank you for making my dream come true."

I felt nauseous and wanted to go outside for some fresh air.

Unexpectedly, just as he reached the door, he saw Gu Yanqing walking towards him.

He wore a bespoke suit, was handsome and refined, and exuded an air of nobility. Passing guests were drawn to him.

That wedding suit was one I designed and made for him myself. Now, wearing it on him feels like a slap in the face.

"Xiao Wan..." Gu Yanqing called softly when he saw me.

I ignored him, rolled my eyes, and turned to avoid him, but then I heard my dad's voice behind me: "Where are you going? The wedding is about to start. Your sister is exhausted. Help her out."

I turned around, looked at the room full of people, and asked incredulously, "I was supporting her?"

Tang Xiu'e retorted, "You're the witness and the older sister, what's wrong with helping your younger sister up?"

I was furious, but before I could speak, Gu Yanqing beside me also spoke up: "Jiang Wan, after you pushed Xiaoyi down last time, her health has worsened. The wedding dress train is too long and heavy, she—"

These shameless words were unbearable to hear. Before he could finish speaking, I turned and rushed back with a cold face.

Jiang Yi raised her arm and waited there, as if she were Empress Dowager Cixi and I were an old hag.

"Thank you, sister..." Jiang Yi smiled and thanked me after putting her arm around me, but I felt she was showing off.

Show off!

Since the Black and White Impermanence are already standing on either side of her, I'll just consider it as accumulating good karma for the rest of my life and endure it!

The wedding began.

The elegant and solemn wedding march resounded throughout the golden hall, and the tall and magnificent hall doors slowly opened to both sides, with all the spotlights focusing on Jiang Yi and me.

I clenched my teeth, feeling as if Mount Everest was pressing on my chest, making it hard to breathe.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, I took Jiang Yi's arm and stepped onto the red carpet.

The moment I appeared, I could clearly feel the uproar in the room. All the guests looked shocked and whispered among themselves.

"What's going on? Isn't the bride Miss Jiang? Why is Miss Jiang the Second wearing a wedding dress?"

"Yes! This bride must have been mistaken."

"The bride becomes a bridesmaid? What kind of joke is the Jiang family playing?"

As I listened to the gossip, I suppressed the humiliation and anger in my heart and escorted Jiang Yi to the other end of the red carpet.

There, Gu Yanqing stood elegantly and noblely, his handsome face showing a hint of excitement, and his eyes seemed to be filled with tears.

He didn't look at me; his eager, swaying gaze was clearly focused on Jiang Yi.

The pain in my heart exploded again, enveloping my internal organs like a poisonous fog.

I can't believe this is the man I've loved deeply for eight years with all my heart!

He said he only wanted to fulfill Jiang Yi's wish, to let her die without regrets, but I have a feeling that the person he truly wanted to marry, the person he truly loved, was Jiang Yi.

Tears welled up in my eyes without me even realizing it, and I couldn't see the scene before me. I just instinctively reached out and offered Jiang Yi's hand.

Gu Yanqing reached out and caught Jiang Yi, gently embracing her. The two gazed at each other affectionately and walked onto the stage together.

I turned around and sat back down in the front row below the stage.

I thought my heart was already numb, and I could watch this wedding like an outsider watching a joke, but I didn't expect that I would still be so cowardly and lose control and suffer so much.

A clean, slender hand appeared beside me, reaching out towards me, its fingers holding a handkerchief.

The owner of the large hand didn't speak, and I wasn't in the mood to turn around and look at them. I simply took the handkerchief and said hoarsely, "Thank you..."

"You're welcome." A deep, pleasant voice cut through the air, clear and cold, piercing through the surrounding noise, "It's his bad luck and unfortunate fate that he can't marry you."
