Chapter 64 Su Shenglin: She's under my protection!

Ocean trading company?

My mind went blank for a moment, and I instantly realized that something had happened to Jiang Haiyang's company.

Little Cherry said from the side, "Comrades, you must have made a mistake. We are a clothing company, and we have always paid taxes properly."

I stepped out from behind my desk and whispered to Cherry, "This is a family matter. I'll go with the colleagues from the tax bureau. You're in charge of handling things at the company. Make sure everyone stops making wild guesses."

"Okay, I understand." Little Cherry nodded, looking worried.

I smiled and said, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing, it'll be fine."

After briefly assigning tasks, I left with my colleagues from the tax bureau.

From the moment Jiang Haiyang suddenly became more agreeable and offered to transfer all the remaining shares my mother had left over to me, as well as some of his own shares, making me the second-largest shareholder in his company—I knew he was going to frame me.

However, Jiang Yi had just died, and the seven-day mourning period hadn't even passed yet. Instead of grieving the loss of his daughter, this biological father was already eager to deal with his other biological daughter...

They're worse than animals.

What I can't understand is that I'm only the second largest shareholder, while Jiang Haiyang is the largest shareholder and legal representative. Logically, if there are problems with the company, Jiang Haiyang should bear the primary responsibility. Why did the tax bureau contact me first?

I raised this question with the tax bureau staff, and they said in surprise, "The largest shareholder of Ocean Shipping Trading is Jiang Wan. Aren't you Jiang Wan?"

I was taken aback. "I'm the largest shareholder?"

"This is the company information we found."

I was speechless.

But soon, I just smiled to myself, speechless.

Jiang Haiyang is really something. It seems he went to great lengths to set a trap for me!

When I arrived at the tax bureau, I had to temporarily hand over my communication devices to cooperate with the investigation.

The tax bureau asked me many questions, but I didn't know the answers to most of them because I had never actually participated in the operation and management of Jiang Haiyang Company.

The staff initially thought I was being cunning and deliberately avoiding the question, but later they realized I genuinely didn't know.

“I did only recently accept those shares, and at that time I was only the second largest shareholder of the company. The real controlling shareholder was Jiang Haiyang, my father—I don’t know when he secretly sold all the shares under his name. This whole thing was a trap from beginning to end.”

I tried my best to explain sincerely.

The staff member nodded: "Okay, I understand, but this is an internal conflict within your company, and we cannot get involved. The amount of tax evasion by Yuanyang Trading Company is tens of millions, which is a very serious matter. If you cannot pay the taxes and accept the fines in time, the person in charge of the company may bear legal responsibility. So we hope that you can resolve these matters as soon as possible and pay the taxes in full."

"I understand, I will cooperate with your work."

Seeing that it was past noon and that they had finished their questions, I thought I could leave.

But they said we'd have to wait.

I was a little anxious, not because I was worried that I would be detained, after all, I am upright and innocent.

I was in a hurry to go out and find Jiang Haiyang, and confront him head-on!

He thought he could ruin me this way, make me take the blame and go to jail for him—dream on!

Seeing the staff member get up to leave, I quickly asked, "How long will I have to wait? I have a lot of things to do at my own company."

A staff member turned around and said, "We'll do it as soon as possible, please be patient."

They got up and left. I thought I would have to wait for at least a few hours, but to my surprise, just a few minutes after they left, someone came back and said very politely, "Miss Jiang, you can leave now."

I was completely confused. "Didn't you just say you wanted to wait?"

Before the staff could answer me, a deep, clear voice suddenly came from the office doorway: "Jiang Wan."

I turned around and was shocked!

Su Shenglin?

I stared at him, "What are you doing here?"

Su Shenglin waved to me, "Come on, let's go outside first."

I was overjoyed, and a smile immediately spread across my face as I walked over to him.

He naturally raised his hand, placed it on my shoulder, and led me to the large office area outside.

Soon, the tax bureau leader rushed over. "Mr. Su, why didn't you give me a heads-up before you came? I could have greeted you at the door."

Su Shenglin smiled faintly, speaking in a formulaic tone: "I'm just here to pick someone up. I have no intention of bothering you. I'll be leaving now."

"Why don't you stay a little longer?"

"No, I have other things to do."

"Okay, then please take care. I'll visit you when it's convenient." The leader was very respectful and polite.

I stood next to Su Shenglin without saying a word from beginning to end, all my attention focused on the hand he had on my shoulder.

He's tall, and when he put his arm around my shoulder like that, although it doesn't have the intimacy of a couple putting their arms around each other's waists, it undoubtedly tells everyone – I'm under his protection.

At that moment, I clearly felt the sense of superiority brought by the words "noble and distinguished".

The staff handed me my phone and bag with both hands.

"Ms. Jiang, these are your personal belongings."

"Thank you." I smiled faintly and turned to look at Su Shenglin. "Then let's go."

"Um."

The leaders and their entourage warmly saw him off, all the way to Su Shenglin's car.

"Mr. Su, Ms. Jiang, take care." The leader was still waving as the car door closed.

The Audi A8 slowly drove out of the tax bureau. I turned to look at Su Shenglin and asked in surprise again, "What brings you here?"

Su Shenglin's handsome face was gentle as he explained in a low voice, "Mu Xi went to your company to visit you, and your assistant told her that you had been taken away by the tax bureau. She immediately called me."

As they were talking, Su Shenglin's phone rang.

He took it out and smiled helplessly: "They're calling again."

"Hey, little sister... yeah, I got it, she's right next to me..." Su Shenglin answered the phone, said a couple of words, and then handed the phone to me. "She wants to talk to you."

I looked at Su Shenglin's phone, my heart pounding again. I quickly reached out and took it, putting it to my ear.

The warmth of his palm lingered on the phone case. My heart pounded, my mind buzzed, and I didn't even hear what Chen Muxi asked. I just kept replying to myself, "It's okay, don't worry, he didn't make things difficult for me..."

The phone was back in Su Shenglin's hands. He dismissed his sister with a few simple words and hung up.

The carriage quieted down, and I forced myself to calm my racing heart.

"Thanks to you today, otherwise I might have had to stay inside for several more hours." I turned around and smiled to thank you.

"You're welcome." Su Shenglin smiled slightly, then looked at his watch. "It's already one o'clock in the afternoon. Are you still hungry? Let's find a place to eat first."

"Okay, it's on you. Thank you for helping me again."

"OK."

Su Shenglin instructed Secretary Ji to find a nearby restaurant that was clean and hygienic.

We found a quiet spot to sit down and ordered a few simple dishes.

"I heard they called you over to investigate your father's company's tax issues?" After ordering the food, Su Shenglin looked at me and asked about the important matter.
