I thought that since Tang Xiue had suffered a loss of face in front of me, the matter was over.
But she refused to give up and even brought in reinforcements.
The next day was Saturday. I arranged to meet with Li Yunwei, Chen Muxi, and myself. Li Yunwei was hosting the dinner at Yuyuan.
I worked overtime at the studio all day and rushed to Yuyuan in the evening. After seeing Li Yunwei and Chen Muxi, I greeted them and my phone rang.
When I took it out, I saw it was my aunt.
"Weiwei, Muxi, you two chat first, I need to take this call."
"You're always so busy!" Li Yunwei complained.
I smiled sheepishly, walked out of the private room, and answered the call.
"Hey, Auntie, what's up?"
On the other end of the phone, her aunt smiled and asked with concern, "Xiao Wan, how have you been lately?"
When I heard that something was off, I smiled and said directly, "Auntie, I'm busy here. Just tell me what you need."
"Alright, then I'll get straight to the point." The aunt was a little embarrassed, and stopped beating around the bush, saying directly, "It seems like your dad is definitely going to jail for his case. Aren't you going to do anything about it?"
Upon hearing this, I knew what was going on—yet another peacemaker.
"Auntie, have you forgotten? I'm the one who got him in there. What can I do? Get him out? What would I gain from that? Besides, he did something illegal and criminal. I don't have the ability to get him out." I replied, half-laughing and half-crying.
“Sigh… I know your dad brought this on himself, but we’re still family. He’s already gotten his comeuppance, so you should stop now,” my aunt advised me, her words tinged with concern.
I was completely baffled. "Auntie, what are you trying to say? Did Tang Xiu'e come to you crying about something?"
My aunt suddenly hesitated, as if I had guessed correctly: "Uh... well, she... called me and said she's heavily in debt and almost starving... She went to ask you for money, but you wouldn't give her a penny and even humiliated her... Xiaowan, I know you're wronged, but they're really in a terrible situation right now, they need a way to survive, right?"
I listened quietly to my aunt's words, a cold smile creeping onto my face.
A while ago, when the company faced a huge crisis because of Jiang Haiyang's tax evasion, my aunt came to me asking for help to protect the interests of the shareholders.
Their attitude was so good back then.
Now that the crisis is over and the shareholders are at ease, her attitude has changed. She has started to feel sorry for the instigator and has even tried to morally blackmail me.
“If you feel sorry for your precious nephew, then go and help them out. I won’t give them a penny. They’ve lived a life of luxury for decades, stepping on my mother’s bones. They’re lucky enough.” My attitude was cold and firm.
The aunt paused for a moment, then smiled ingratiatingly and tried to persuade them, "Well... even if you don't give them money, you can give them some shares. They have to have some income, right? Otherwise, how will they survive? Just think of it as taking pity on them and giving them charity, okay?"
I chuckled dismissively. "Tang Xiu'e isn't so old that she can't move, is she? Jiang Hao is young and strong, with hands and feet, so why can't he go out and earn money? Why can't he live?"
"Sigh...it's so hard to make money these days. A little bit of stock is nothing to you—"
I felt very irritable, and my disgust for this aunt suddenly reached its peak.
I was about to hang up the phone and not bother arguing with her, but then a sudden idea popped into my head.
"By the way, Auntie, do you want the shares under my name? If you do, I can transfer them all to you at a low price, and you will become the largest shareholder of the company. The position of general manager has been vacant for a while. If you become the largest shareholder, you can firmly sit in the seat of general manager, and you will be the one to call the shots in the company from now on."
After I finished speaking, there was a moment of silence on the other end, followed by my aunt's excited and joyful confirmation: "Jiang Wan, are you serious?"
"Of course it's true. I hold shares, and you all come to cause me trouble. I might as well sell them and get the money in my pocket."
My words were laced with sarcasm, but my aunt ignored them completely, only remembering to ask with a smile, "So how much do you want to transfer it to me for?"
I pondered for a moment and said, "I've calculated... all the shares under my name are worth about 80 million. Of course, I should be considerate when selling them to my aunt, so 60 million will be fine."
"Sixty million? That's too much. I can't come up with that much money right now. Can you lower the amount? We're all family..." The aunt pressed her advantage.
I knew their financial situation well enough to come up with the money, so I remained firm: "Sixty million is already very low. If my aunt thinks it's unreasonable, then I'll transfer it to the other shareholders of the company. Anyway, it's a low-price transfer, they'll definitely—"
"No, no! Xiaowan, wait a minute, I'll give you an answer tomorrow, okay?" The aunt was afraid of missing this good opportunity, so she quickly stopped her.
"Okay, but don't make me wait too long, or I'll sell it to other shareholders."
"Okay, I'll discuss it with your uncle and give you an answer tomorrow."
"Well, I'm still busy here, so that's all for now."
After hanging up the phone, I smiled, sensing that another good show was about to begin.
My aunt advised me to sell my shares to Tang Xiu'e so casually, simply because it didn't affect her personal interests.
She used her words to morally blackmail me. If she succeeded, she could gain favor with Tang Xiue and her son and become a good person.
If I harm my own interests, Tang Xiue will not be grateful to me at all; she will only think that I am stingy and that I gave her too few shares.
Now that I've transferred all my shares to my aunt, once she becomes the company owner, Tang Xiue will definitely feel resentful and start making trouble for her.
For my aunt to have to vomit what she ate would be more painful than never having had it at all.
