Chapter 96 My Nemesis is Back!

With the school anniversary approaching, I delivered the clothes that the models would wear in the fashion show to the school a day in advance.

Then I drove to the airport to pick up my college roommate, Chen Wanzhen.

To my utter surprise, I ran into Su Shenglin at the airport!

As I watched him walk out of the gate with such elegance, several young girls around him cast infatuated glances at him, and I too became infatuated.

I even blinked, wondering if I was seeing things.

Su Shenglin was also surprised to see me. His originally dignified and solemn expression suddenly softened as if bathed in a spring breeze.

Secretary Ji followed Su Shenglin, pushing the luggage. When they got closer, she asked in surprise, "Miss Jiang, what brings you to the airport? Did you know that Chairman Su was returning from his business trip and came here to pick him up?"

I opened my mouth, hesitated several times, and still didn't know how to answer.

This is a huge misunderstanding!

If I deny it, it will make Su Shenglin lose face.

But I can't just abandon my college roommates to save face for Su Shenglin, and tell them, "Yes, I'm here to pick you up," and then go with them, right?

Su Shenglin was tall and slender, wearing a long, dark black trench coat that accentuated his noble air.

He looked down at me, and seeing me staring blankly, he stepped in to help me out: "What a coincidence, are you here to pick someone up from the airport?"

"Yes, yes..." I smiled shyly, my face already red to the back of my ears. "What a coincidence, my college roommate is back for the school anniversary celebration, and I came to pick her up. I didn't expect to run into you."

Secretary Ji was very perceptive; she silently pushed her luggage and turned to leave.

Su Shenglin smiled and said, "I was on a business trip the night before last and rushed back today because of the school anniversary celebration tomorrow."

"Oh, you must be working so hard, traveling back and forth."

"Yes, I didn't sleep much last night. I finally got everything sorted out and made it to today's flight." He said this with a tired tone and expression.

I glanced up at him and saw the bloodshot eyes and dark circles under his eyes. I couldn't help but feel sorry for him.

Before I could even offer any words of comfort, he smiled again, his tone even carrying a hint of doting: "But I was so happy to unexpectedly run into you as soon as I got off the plane, all that fatigue just vanished."

I couldn't help but smile and laughed along with him. "Yes, I was surprised too. I thought I was seeing things."

Su Shenglin stared intently at my face, sighing with a half-smile, "For a moment, I really thought you came here specifically to pick me up, that you had come to your senses."

The next sentence, with its hidden meaning, instantly made my heart pound again.

I avoided his gaze, my cheeks flushing red, and though I remained silent, my heart was bursting with joy.

I was lost in my reverie when the broadcast suddenly broke the silence between us. I snapped out of it and quickly said, "Um... you look so tired, go back and rest. See you tomorrow."

"Okay, I'll pick you up tomorrow."

“Hmm,” I was about to nod when I suddenly remembered something. “Oh right, I’m picking up a classmate later. She’s staying at my place tonight. Maybe I won’t bother you tomorrow; I’ll go with her.”

Su Shenglin replied matter-of-factly, "It wouldn't be a problem to bring your classmate along, would it?"

ah?

"Uh...it's not a problem. I was just worried you might mind that we're not familiar with each other..." After all, it's normal for someone of his status to be a little aloof.

"If you don't mind, I'll contact you tomorrow."

"good."

Since they've said that, I have no choice but to agree.

After we said goodbye, he turned to leave, but after taking two steps, he suddenly turned back.

I happened to turn around and look at him, and he caught me red-handed. Luckily, I reacted quickly and immediately asked, "What's wrong?"

"How much longer until your classmate arrives?" Su Shenglin asked.

I took out my phone and checked the time: "About half an hour."

Upon hearing this, he immediately reached out and took off his black coat from his shoulders, then covered it over my head.

"It's below zero today, and you're wearing so little. You girls really know how to withstand the cold just to look pretty."

"No, no," I said, flattered, and refused repeatedly. "I'm not cold. Give me your clothes; you'll catch a cold if you go out later."

"The car is right outside. I'll get in as soon as I go out. You'll have to wait here for half an hour, or you'll freeze."

Su Shenglin didn't give me a chance to refuse at all. He insisted on putting his coat on me, and to prevent me from taking it off, he tied the two sleeves tightly in front of me.

I:"……"

"Alright, now you're warm." He commented with satisfaction as he looked at me, all tied up.

I looked helpless, both amused and exasperated. "This looks like binding a prisoner."

He smiled and patted my head affectionately with one hand. "There aren't any prisoners this pretty."

My cheeks flushed even redder, my whole body felt like it was on fire, and I was overjoyed to the extreme.

"I'm leaving now. I'll contact you tomorrow."

"Okay, bye-bye."

I watched his handsome, tall figure gradually walk away, and stood there blankly, my heart still pounding wildly.

The arrival area is semi-outdoor. Although it has heating, the constant flow of people and the open doors allow gusts of cold wind to blow in, making people shiver.

But right now, I feel enveloped in warmth and happiness.

I could clearly feel my heart slowly sinking deeper into despair.

After waiting for half an hour, Chen Wanzhen finally appeared.

We greeted each other from afar and jumped up excitedly.

"Jiang Wan! Long time no see!" My roommate rushed out and hugged me tightly. We were both very excited.

"Welcome, welcome! We've finally met Editor-in-Chief Chen." I joked with a smile.

"What editor-in-chief? Should I call you General Manager Jiang?"

We teased each other.
