Who knows if this boyfriend will make it to the next Spring Festival?
After hanging up the phone, I glanced at my WeChat messages. Some of them were work-related, so I replied to them.
"Wanwan, my family's opinions aren't that important. Whether they like it or not, I can make my own decisions, you can trust me." Su Shenglin's deep, gentle voice drifted over as he drove.
I turned to look at him and deliberately said in a flippant tone, "Are you a dog with ears? Your hearing is so sensitive."
Music was playing in the car, and my phone wasn't on speakerphone; I was using the window side of the phone to answer it.
He certainly couldn't hear what we were talking about, but he could accurately pinpoint the topics we discussed.
Su Shenglin smiled and said, "If I didn't know anything about you, then my liking for you would be too superficial."
I pursed my lips, thought about it seriously for a moment, and said solemnly, "Su Shenglin, when we're together, let's love wholeheartedly and leave no regrets. When it's time to part, let's part cleanly and gracefully—okay?"
“No.” He denied it decisively, glancing back at me. “Unless there’s a problem with our relationship, like you don’t love me anymore, or I don’t love you anymore—I won’t accept any other reason for breaking up.”
"So you're planning to turn against your family for my sake?"
"It's not that serious, I'll handle it."
He remained calm and composed as he reassured me.
But I can't think of any way he could persuade his family.
Perhaps Mrs. Su can handle it, but how can Mr. Su change his mind?
He clearly preferred to become related to his old subordinates and comrades-in-arms through marriage.
Xu Qianning, however, was shameless and clearly willing to wait.
My heart is heavy with sorrow, a thousand thoughts tangled in my mind.
When we arrived at the hot pot restaurant, Su Shenglin and I sat on one side, and Yang Qianmu sat on the other side.
While we were cooking the vegetables, Su Shenglin completely disregarded Yang Qianmu's feelings and kept urging me to eat.
That's not all. When I got some sauce on my face and the corners of my mouth, he kindly brought me a hot towel to wipe it off.
I didn't dare look at Yang Qianmu's reaction, afraid that he would get up, say "I'm full," and walk away.
Later, all I could do was kick him in the air above the table to signal him to behave.
He did indeed restrain himself, but then turned his attention to Yang Qianmu.
"Mr. Yang, while you're away on business, I'll have to trouble you to take good care of Jiang Wan. My job is special, and I can't leave for a while to be with her." Su Shenglin was very polite and sincere, putting on an air of entrusting her with a difficult task.
I was about to roll my eyes inwardly, but I quickly put some food on his plate: "Eat up, you haven't eaten much. This is very fresh and sweet, eat it while it's hot."
"Wanwan, don't just focus on me, get some for President Yang too." Su Shenglin thanked him while gently tapping the person opposite him with his chin.
