Chapter 437 Harem Troubles (Part Two)

"Your Majesty, something terrible has happened! The Prince of Zhenbei went directly to the palace and dragged that little palace maid out." The head maid beside the Empress Dowager whispered in her ear.

Cen Ang looked down at the nail polish on his fingernails as if nothing had happened.

Before the Empress Dowager could react, a commotion broke out outside the door. Huo Xiaolong picked up the person like a chick and brought him to the Empress Dowager, then threw the little palace maid to the ground.

The palace maid, lying on the ground recovering, couldn't close her mouth, and saliva kept dripping from the corners of her mouth.

Just now, when Huo Xiaolong grabbed her, the palace maid subconsciously tried to commit suicide by taking poison, but Long'er quickly dislocated her jaw.

Long'er remained silent about the affairs of the harem; the intricacies were too much for her brain. The young girl simply pulled Xiangxiang to stand beside her and spoke.

"I'll get revenge for you later."

Da Nier nodded without saying anything.

Don't worry, I'll definitely get her.

"Your Majesty, my daughter has found the person who poisoned us. What should we do?"

Cen Ang meant: This person is yours, so you need to give our child an explanation, and you need to state your position on how to handle things.

The Empress and Xiao Lanhua waited at the door, not daring to go in. It wasn't that they were afraid of the Empress Dowager, but hadn't everyone seen or heard of Cen Ang's methods back then?

Every time we do something, it's always a bloodbath.

“According to palace rules, this person should be sent to the Ministry of Justice for trial,” Madam Cen continued.

The Empress Dowager was about to nod in agreement with Cen Ang's suggestion, but the woman spoke first.

“But she is someone close to the Empress, so she cannot be compared with others. Entering the Ministry of Justice would be the same as death, so let’s just give her a quick death.”

Cen Ang turned around and glanced at Huo Xiaolong.

The young girl stepped forward, and before the Empress Dowager could speak, she grabbed the palace maid by the hair and lifted her up, then gave Da Ni'er a wink.

Upon receiving the signal, the dark-skinned girl immediately covered the little girl's eyes completely.

Hou Xiangxiang heard a cracking sound, the sound of a porcelain vase falling, followed by the loud sobbing of the palace maid whose jaw had been dislocated.

She couldn't speak, she could only keep humming.

The Empress Dowager watched as her trusted confidant, whom the grasslands had sent to the palace just a few years earlier, died before her eyes. No one, no matter who they were, was allowed to bring weapons into the palace, not even a dagger.

So the Prince of Zhenbei smashed a teacup and used the porcelain shards to cut open her throat.

The Empress Dowager was no stranger to this action; it was how prisoners were killed on the grasslands, as if they were helpless livestock.

Blood spurted high into the air, with a few drops landing at the Empress Dowager's feet. Huo Xiaolong's expression remained unchanged. Blood choked the palace maid, causing her to suffocate, and crimson blood spilled from her mouth.

The girl released her grip, and the palace maid fell to the ground with a thud.

When Da Nier let go, Hou Xiangxiang could only see blood all over the ground and shards at Long'er's feet.

"Aunt Cen, are you satisfied now?" the Empress Dowager asked, slightly annoyed.

"This servant was just following the rules."

The Empress Dowager waved her hand, signaling Cen Ang to lead his men away.

At this moment, Huo Xiaolong spoke to the Empress Dowager.

"Your Majesty, this is how I kill people on the grasslands."

"Did I frighten you? I apologize for my disrespect."

Hearing this, the Empress Dowager became even angrier. The old woman was unsteady on her feet, and the head maidservant beside her immediately stepped forward to support her.

"Her Majesty the Empress Dowager is unwell. Please proceed as you may, and we will meet with her at the palace another day."

Hou Xiangxiang pouted. It was indeed her order, but according to Long'er, the original intention was not directed at her, but at the Empress.

But isn't it the same for Empress Chong?

It just so happens that it happened to be the day she entered the palace.

Huo Xiaolong led the little girl and Da Ni'er out of the palace. The girls skipped and jumped ahead, as if they weren't the ones who had just slit someone's throat.

Cen Ang looked at him with a loving expression.

These kids are so heartless.

"Little sister, be careful next time you go to the palace. Otherwise, don't come when we can't accompany you. It's too scary. This time it was you. What if you really drugged the Empress and someone grabbed your little arms and legs?"

Huo Xiaolong was worried. After all, the palace wasn't his own territory. If something happened to Hou Xiangxiang, Aunt Hou would be heartbroken, and so would she.

"What should we do then? The Empress's illness cannot be delayed."

“Then I’ll go with you next time,” Huo Xiaolong said.

"You're not approving the official documents anymore?"

"I'll just get it approved by the palace; there's nothing wrong with it."

"Alright, you two can come with me next time."

Empress Dowager: Please don't get involved, thank you.

The old woman leaned against the bed in the bedroom, with a pillow behind her.

She pondered carefully what Huo Xiaolong had just said to her.

Did she sense something?

"Your Majesty?" The head palace maid stepped forward, trying to bring the Empress Dowager back to her senses.

"Go, send someone to contact the King of the Grasslands."

"Your Majesty, you have seen the relationship between the Grassland King and the Zhenbei King. This is absolutely unacceptable, Your Majesty."

The Empress Dowager turned to look at her, holding her hand tightly as she spoke.

"I have no time left. The Prince of Zhenbei is ruthless, and the Emperor cannot defeat her! In a few years, when I die, the situation on the grasslands will be settled. If only the Emperor is left, who can he defeat?"

"Whether it's sowing discord or using coercion and enticement, we must make the grassland king cooperate with us. At the very least, we must turn Beining back into the grassland, do you hear me?"

The old woman's expression was somewhat delirious, so the head palace maid could only respond first.

"Yes, Your Majesty. Please rest well. I will do what you ask."

The palace maid helped her lie down and then blew out the night lamp in the bedroom.
