When they got off the bus, the trench coat that had been draped over Tan Yuchen was now firmly wrapped around Meng Jiuyi. It was still dark, and the surrounding area was lush and green with very low visibility.
Meng Jiuyi wrapped her arms around his neck, being held in his embrace, her vision blurred by a sudden jolt.
The villa door opened, and the entire blue glass facade of the aquarium vaguely came into view. It wasn't until the man carried her upstairs that she remembered she had been here before.
It's not a hospital at all.
But then they both fell onto the big bed, their bodies pressed together tightly.
The kiss that had just been so hard to break was back, but this time the only difference was that the sheets, blankets, and the whole room were filled with his scent, clearly indicating that this was his usual room.
It was still dark, and the person pressing down on her, whom she couldn't push away at all, was him.
This realization startled and frightened Meng Jiuyi, and her heart swelled with tears, just like her lips.
"...Tan Yuchen, go to the hospital, your shoulder will crack like this."
"I'm not going!"
Tan Yuchen bit her earlobe hard, "You're going to leave me behind again?"
"No...no..."
Before she could finish speaking, the man bit her lip hard, making her eyes well up with tears.
"Little liar, do you think I'll ever believe you again?"
Tan Yuchen's breathing was disordered, and his eyes were more frenzied than the surrounding night.
"If I don't make it tonight, what do you plan to show me? Your bloodied and mangled body on the street, or just the suicide note you sent to your brother?"
"you--"
Meng Jiuyi suddenly opened her eyes wide and stared at him, as if a surge of heat had poured over her from head to toe, extinguishing her outward strength but inner weakness.
Her face instantly turned from white to red.
"Didn't you ever think that if I couldn't hold on to you, I would jump down with you?"
Tan Yuchen gripped her chin with the hand that was cut by the knife, his fingertips roughly rubbing her lips. "You don't care about me at all, do you? That's why there wasn't a single word about me in the letter, and you didn't plan to let me know any news in advance."
You don't even consider how frantic I'd be if something happened to you, how I'd go crazy seeing you in trouble. These aren't things you've considered, are they?
Meng Jiuyi was so pressed by him that he couldn't utter a single word.
"say!"
His eyes were bloodshot, and his words were icy cold. "You know what I was thinking when I saw that letter. I was thinking that since you're not even afraid of death, and you care so much about your cheap brother, I'll tie him up and hang him on that rooftop day and night, so he can tell you how terrifying it is to fall."
His words were so beastly, and he completely controlled her. Meng Jiuyi was like a fish out of water, unable to breathe, but he deliberately didn't give her a good time.
The tears she had been holding back for so long finally fell.
She cried so bitterly. She didn't cry when she fell off the rooftop, and she didn't cry when she went to the appointment alone knowing her predetermined fate. But now she was made to cry by his scolding.
He cried so hard that tears streamed down his face, falling from his eyes onto the pillow and onto his hands, a continuous stream that burned his heart and made it clench and ache.
The fierceness in Tan Yuchen's eyes shattered instantly, leaving him at a loss. He cupped the back of her head in his hand, clearly feeling the tears streaming down his face, one after another.
She cried so hard she could barely breathe, like a wronged child.
"Don't cry...baby...don't cry..."
Tan Yuchen cupped her face in his hands and coaxed her gently, wishing he could take back all those bastard words he had said.
Pride and unruliness were insignificant to him; he wished he could tear himself apart and show her.
"I didn't mean to yell at you just now, I was scared to death, you know that."
His voice was hoarse as he showered her face with kisses.
“I just dreamt that I watched you fall and missed your hand. I dreamt that for decades after you left, I didn’t stop looking back and regretting it. If I had stepped on the gas a little faster, or even taken a shortcut, I could have grabbed you. I also dreamt that I jumped down with you.”
Fear can be amplified infinitely in dreams.
Tan Yuchen, who had faced death countless times without blinking, woke up with his heart clenching in pain, and every breath was painful.
Meng Jiuyi's face was burning hot from the tears as she stared blankly at him, who was so close to her.
Tan Yuchen was captivated by her gaze, his eyes darkening as he looked back at her intently, their eyes meeting and their foreheads touching.
"I've always wanted to wait a little longer, long enough for you to realize you're even a little bit interested in me. After all, it's embarrassing to be a one-man show, but I'm even more afraid that after all this time, you still won't know—"
He kissed her gently, his clear, husky voice audible through their pressed lips.
"I love you."
Like sparks sweeping over recklessly, Meng Jiuyi was instantly engulfed in flames, like leaves and branches.
A surge of heat rose within her body, bringing tears to her eyes. The man gently kissed her lips, his sucking tenderly without any threat. Though she could struggle, she couldn't move an inch. Her heart pounded, and she let his tongue pry open her teeth, his intense breath and possessive desire completely enveloping her.
"Did you even think of me for a moment last night?" he asked.
Meng Jiuyi remained silent, unable to bear the pain.
His movements inside her mouth became increasingly intense, gripping her chin and forcing her to look at him.
"Open your eyes and look at me!"
Tan Yuchen wouldn't give up until he received a response.
Meng Jiuyi felt a slight difficulty breathing.
"Yes...I have..."
Having received a satisfactory answer, Tan Yuchen did not let her go; his hands were already firmly gripping the back of her legs.
It's still being pulled outwards.
Her blushing face instantly turned pale with panic.
"No...no!"
Tan Yuchen was also looking at her, his eyes fixed on her, his gaze dark and unfathomable, filled with determination.
He wanted her; he was determined.
"It's my turn to earn a salary, Mr. Meng. My family is desperately needing money to save their lives."
He lowered his head and bit her lips, his tone full of roguish charm.
Meng Jiuyi's limbs were firmly controlled by him, and he could not move an inch.
He wasn't joking like he usually was; he was putting his words into action. She didn't dare touch his shoulder, her fingers whimpering as she scratched at his neck.
"Take as much money as you want, I'm not doing the deal."
I don't want to do business with him like this anymore, not at all.
Tan Yuchen said in a rough voice in her ear, "That night on the cruise ship, you took advantage of me seventeen or eighteen times while you were sober. You have to give me something back." He kissed her all the way to her red ear tips, his voice hoarse.
"I'm the kind of person who only believes in an eye for an eye and repaying with my body."
"...I don't know what you're talking about!"
Tan Yuchen looked down at her, his superior position exuding immense pressure. Meng Jiuyi was about to deny it as usual when he reached for the remote control beside her. She took the opportunity to push him away, but before she could even get off the bed, the man pinned her down on the bed.
Kneeling, her knees didn't hurt at all because of the soft mattress, and her hands were clasped on the bed, their fingers intertwined.
The projection screen on the opposite wall slowly descended, and the misty light illuminated the entire room, clearly revealing the smoothness of her skin and the undulating curves of her waist and hips like sand dunes.
It fit perfectly against his palm.
Meng Jiuyi's eyes reddened, and her body felt hot from shame.
Suddenly, a video appeared on the projection screen—a plea for mercy from the girl she had tricked into switching places with.
"Young Master Tan, I was wrong. I shouldn't have been so greedy for vanity and had ulterior motives. Please, please let me leave!"
Tan Yuchen took her into the villa and did nothing else, only letting all his relatives know about it, and telling them who he would give the ten million to once the truth was revealed.
In the world of the poor, envy is a deadly weapon; it used to be a relative, but now it's an enemy.
That night on the cruise ship really had nothing to do with me, please leave me alone! It was Miss Meng who paid me to pull this switcheroo...
With a loud bang, before he could hear the rest of the words, Meng Jiuyi's body was frozen in place.
A surge of heat poured down her head, and her face flushed red.
Tan Yuchen pressed down on her, his kisses tracing down the back of her neck.
"You little liar, still dare to say it wasn't you that night?"
