Meng Jiuyi didn't react at first, until he heard the man's muffled laughter. He lowered his head, his shoulders shaking noticeably.
She belatedly touched her face.
It was sticky and slippery, and had a foul odor.
Huh!
She blushed from the laughter and gritted her teeth as she spoke.
Are all the things in your house sick or broken?
Tan Yuchen winked at the alpaca and clicked his tongue.
"Apologize to your aunt. Didn't you see I got scolded too?"
Threatened by the two, the alpaca, bullying the weak and fearing the strong, dared not retaliate against Tan Yuchen, and spat out a mouthful of water at Meng Jiuyi.
She instantly exploded, a surge of shame and anger rushing to her nose. She threw all thoughts of not arguing with a sheep to the back of her mind; all she wanted now was to kill it.
"You come here right now!"
Meng Jiuyi went to pull off its warm cotton vest, intending to teach it a lesson.
"Hello--"
The moment the man spoke, the alpaca sensed the threat and slammed its hips into her.
Meng Jiuyi was caught off guard and fell on her bottom.
This time, he burst into loud laughter.
This ugly sheep is extremely vengeful. Tan Yuchen originally wanted to warn her, but who would have thought she would act so quickly.
Meng Jiuyi sat on the ground in a disheveled state, his brown pupils glazed over, completely dumbfounded.
The silent pain emanating from her buttocks betrayed her current embarrassing state.
What heinous things did she do that warranted Tan Yuchen's suppression?
Even at his house, he was bullied by a sheep and made a laughingstock of himself? The resentment, hatred, and injustice that he had been deliberately suppressing for days burst forth like a dam breaking through a mountain torrent.
As Tan Yuchen bent down to pull her with a smile, Meng Jiuyi slapped his hand away.
"If someone is sick, lock them up in a sheep pen or a mental hospital. What's the point of letting them out!"
Isn't its arrogance a result of your indulgence? I'm here peacefully feeding the birds, and you deliberately send it to embarrass me, aren't you? Does everything in your house have to be superior, bossing me around? Even an animal has to ride roughshod over me?
Her eyes immediately reddened, clearly a veiled attack.
No one has ever dared to speak to Tan Yuchen like that.
His crouching posture completely blocked the light from her eyes, and a faint smile hung on his face, disappearing like quicksand.
The man's thick, dark eyelashes were clear and sharp when he opened his eyes, exuding an unapproachable aloofness.
Meng Jiuyi belatedly realized what he had said.
Tan Yuchen pulled his hand out of his pocket, and just as she thought he was about to explode, he squatted down to look at her, his voice calm.
"Are you done venting your anger?"
The sharp aggression gradually faded as he looked straight ahead, and the setting sun shone softly through his bangs onto his nose and eyelashes, like the flesh of a peeled orange.
Meng Jiuyi turned her face away and ignored him, her jawline revealing a clear stubbornness.
"So it doesn't exist yet? Why not lock it up in a mental hospital, or slaughter it and make soup?"
The man spoke with an air of seriousness, and since the alpaca understood human speech, it immediately stood obediently to the side.
She couldn't possibly actually kill a sheep.
Meng Jiuyi lowered his head, scratching at the grass helplessly. It felt as if fingers were pressing on his heart, leaving a feeling of utter disorientation and pressure.
If the hospital's answer was ambiguous that time, then this time she is certain.
He was genuinely trying to comfort her.
They're using a appeasement strategy again. What are they up to?
Her eyelashes fluttered erratically, tiny glints of light adorning the mole at the corner of her eye. Despite her disheveled and comical face, she appeared pitiful, making one's blood involuntarily rush to a certain place.
Suddenly a hand appeared in front of him, and Meng Jiuyi instinctively stepped back, but his movements were not as fast as the hand's.
Tan Yuchen wiped the saliva and tears from her face, which then turned into wet teardrops on his fingers. His face was patchy with wet and dry tears, making him look quite disheveled.
The corners of his mouth had just turned up when she glared at him angrily.
Tan Yuchen stopped laughing, and with a flick of his finger, the alpaca's saliva landed on his fingertip.
They're all dirty.
Tan Yuchen joked, "You're usually quite capable, so how come you got bullied by it?"
Meng Jiuyi pursed her lips again and again, "That's because I'm not going to argue with it!"
Not knowing who she had just been arguing with, Tan Yuchen didn't continue the verbal battle. He simply grabbed her shoulder and helped her up.
Meng Jiuyi was like a tender seedling being pulled up to grow, being pulled by his force.
She looked up, and their eyes met briefly in the sunset. His eyes were clear and unfathomable, still detached. Her attempt to maintain a cool distance was inexplicably shattered by the encounter.
This person always manages to mess with her emotions.
Just as he stood still, Tan Ni ran over from not far away. Meng Jiuyi quickly took a few steps back, while rapidly brushing the weeds off his clothes.
"Brother, what are you doing here?"
Tan Yuchen didn't respond, but Meng Jiuyi's action of wiping his eyes with his head down was noticed by her.
"Xiao Jiu, what's wrong?"
Tan Ni looked at her brother warily, "Brother, did you bully her?"
Tan Yuchen: "Would I dare?"
There was something strange about what she said, but Tan Ni didn't have time to pay attention to it at all, because she saw the King of Hell next to her.
"Oh, you again, you drooling sheep!"
It always spits at people, which annoys Tan Ni so much that she silently kicked it.
Meng Jiuyi felt that he must have lost his mind, and he didn't know why he was so angry with it just now.
She went to the bathroom to wash her face. Tan Yuchen watched her back for a moment before lazily looking away.
