Chapter 19 I'll be gentler later

"Mr. Chen, there may have been some misunderstanding before, but I don't have any thoughts about relationships at the moment."

The car was parked on the side of the road, and Meng Jiuyi bluntly said that he was so outstanding that she was not someone she could possibly befriend.

Her refusal was meticulous, leaving the other party completely blocked from all sides. Chen Xiaoran listened to her with a hint of flippancy in his eyes and a smile on his lips.

After saying that, Meng Jiuyi was about to push open the door and get out of the car, but Chen Xiaoran pressed the lock button.

"you--"

“Miss Meng, even if we can’t be lovers, we can still be friends. I promised Uncle Meng I would take good care of you. If I let you go now, wouldn’t that be breaking my promise?”

Chen Xiaoran leaned closer to fasten her seatbelt. "I need a female companion. Come with me to check out my new bar. If you're really not interested in me, then I won't bother you anymore, okay?"

Meng Jiuyi looked at him warily, "Are you serious?"

"Sure."

Chen Xiaoran stepped on the gas.

The bar, named L70, is located on the 27th floor of the Zhongguang Building. Heavy metal rock music mixed with the noisy chatter of the crowd fills the air. Downstairs in the noisy pro area, people are already rocking out. The lighting is dim, creating an atmosphere of endless ambiguity.

When he went to the private room on the second floor, many of his friends were there, and they exclaimed that Meng Jiuyi was a great beauty.

Meng Jiuyi was wary of the wine offered to him and didn't drink it. He only touched the empty cup to the glass. Amidst the swirling smoke, some risqué jokes were told, and someone's hand had already slipped inside his female companion's clothes.

Meng Jiuyi frowned, got up and walked to the window. Through the floor-to-ceiling glass, the lively scene downstairs was clearly visible.

Her gaze paused slightly, and she spotted a familiar face among them—in a booth separated by beaded curtains, Tan Ni was resting her chin on her hand, chatting with her friend across from her.

She wore beautiful makeup, her eyes sparkling like stars, and people would often come up to chat with her, only to be turned away by her hand.

The bar was a mixed bag of people, yet Tan Yuchen was surprisingly at ease with his precious younger sister.

Chen Xiaoran's voice came from behind, "How's the bar's decor?"

His perfume was too strong, so Meng Jiuyi moved a step to the side and said politely.

"It's alright. I wish you booming business. I've taken a seat at the bar. I've said what I needed to say, so I'll head back now. I hope you keep your word."

Just as she was about to leave, Chen Xiaoran raised his hand to stop her. He suppressed his smile and said, "Miss Meng, I thought you were a smart person."

Meng Jiuyi: "What do you mean?"

“Smart people assess the situation and know how to use their existing conditions to gain the greatest benefit, such as your beauty and your status as a member of the Meng family.”

Meng Jiuyi wanted to laugh. "So, you think it was smart of me to agree to marry you?"

"Otherwise what?"

He sarcastically remarked, "No family in Kyushu with even a modicum of standing would ever accept you as a mistress like your mother."

The current situation is quite different from the last century. Some people still do this today. I saw quite a few when I was studying in the United States. They accompanied the rich kids on their studies, and after more than ten years, they had almost a dozen children. Several times, they almost didn't make it off the operating table.

As a result, the child still couldn't be registered, and couldn't even step foot in the other family's house. Your mother was exceptionally lucky; did she really think she could imitate her mother's actions?

Meng Jiuyi's eyes were icy cold. "Don't bother with me, Young Master Chen. A woman doesn't only have marriage as her path to survival. What kind of trash are you to say such a thing?"

The two abandoned their usual gentle demeanor and revealed their fangs.

Chen Xiaoran does need the Meng family's identity. Even though his Chen family is incredibly wealthy, without a deep-rooted background, they are no different from nouveau riche in the eyes of others.

Because of Feng Lan, becoming the son-in-law of the Meng family also established a connection with the Tan family, which would be beneficial to both the political and business circles in the future.

He can't reach the legitimate daughter of the Meng family, so why can't he have his eye on the daughter born to a mistress?

"You really are..."

Chen Xiaoran chuckled and pulled her close, saying, "Believe it or not, I'll just have sex with you right here."

Meng Jiuyi's pupils constricted. "You dare? Let go!"

He held the struggling force firmly in his hand, completely ignoring the group of cronies behind him. Chen Xiaoran's smile carried a cruel undertone.

"Even if something happens between us here, the Meng family will ultimately just send you to my house. It's just money, right? My Chen family has plenty. Isn't the money enough to buy your entire plaza?"

He pinched her chin. "Meng Jiuyi, while you're still young and beautiful and have some value, choose a good path. If you become an old woman, I won't even take you as my mistress."

After saying that, Chen Xiaoran released her, lit a cigarette, and let the smoke spread unchecked.

Under the cold light, Meng Jiuyi's face was deathly pale, his head was buzzing so loudly that he lost his mind, and he subconsciously wanted to grab the vase behind him and smash it to his death.

But the vase couldn't save her.

Suppressing the trembling in his breath, Meng Jiuyi asked him one more time.

"So you're determined to get this marriage proposal?"

What do you think?

Chen Xiaoran smiled, and the smoke from his breath hit her face.

Meng Jiuyi turned her face away and looked downstairs.

Tan Ni smiled broadly as they clinked glasses. The Tan family's daughter had been so well protected since childhood. In order to allow her to live freely, Tan Yuchen even went to great lengths to prevent the leakage of her personal information.

The vast majority of people in the room had no idea that she was the apple of the Tan family's eye.

Chen Xiaoran, since you're not giving me a way out, don't blame me.

**

"Hey, can you guys just leave me alone?"

In the bar's corridor, Tan Ni pointed to the door, her voice arrogant, "I now order you all to come downstairs, immediately! Right now!"

The two bodyguards hesitated, "Miss, but the Third Young Master instructed—"

"I won't listen!"

Tan Ni covered her ears, "You think I'm being watched just because I come to a bar? With so many people around, what danger could I possibly be in? If you don't leave, I'll tell my brother to fire you."

The two bodyguards could only go downstairs to wait, while Tan Ni turned and went to the restroom.

She turned on the tap to wash her hands, and the sound of vomiting came from the toilet stall. A girl struggled to come out, her pale face making Tan Ni exclaim "Huh?"

"Hey, you, weren't you at the banquet that day...?"

The other person's eyes were glazed over, and they didn't recognize him.

Tan Ni wanted to help her up, but Meng Jiuyi leaned against the door and went out, slipping a crumpled piece of paper into her hand at the same time.

Tan Ni unfolded it in surprise, only to find that it was covered in lipstick.

S, o, S

She immediately ran out, and found Meng Jiuyi drunkenly slumped in the man's arms, letting him carry her to the private room on the second floor.

"How many drinks does he need to beat up, huh?"

Chen Xiaoran looked impatient, his gaze sweeping down her face, his expression gradually changing.

The light, like a thin mist, fell on her face like icing sugar, tempting one to devour it all. That irresistible itch was instantly aroused, and his hand gripped her waist and rubbed it gently.

"Let go..." she struggled.

Chen Xiaoran's voice was slightly hoarse, "Don't move, I'll be gentle later..."

He didn't intend to follow the agreement and take things slowly. Who knew how many unexpected problems might arise? He wanted to make it a fait accompli first, and then have them set up the cameras to see how this girl would run away.

After carrying him into the private room, several friends, seeing how drunk he was, smiled knowingly, and some even got up to offer him their seats.

Just as the door to the private room was about to close, Tan Ni ran in and questioned them about what they wanted to do. The others tried to kick her out, but Tan Ni refused and went to pull Meng Jiuyi, who was drunk on the sofa, away.

"Miss Meng, Miss Meng, please wake up."

She tried to call her bodyguard, but her phone was snatched away and smashed against the wall.

How could Chen Xiaoran let the prize she had almost gotten away fly away and have someone drive her away?

Meng Jiuyi woke up groggily during the argument. Seeing that there were only the two girls, Tan Ni did not make a scene. Instead, she helped Meng Jiuyi up and headed for the door, planning to ask her brother to seek justice for her when they got back.

However, Chen Xiaoran was not about to let them leave. He grabbed Meng Jiuyi's arm and pulled her back. Tan Ni tried to pull her away, but Chen Xiaoran pushed her against the wall.

Meng Jiuyi was terrified.

She only wanted to use Tan Ni to get the Tan family to deal with Chen Xiaoran, but if anything happened to her, Tan Yuchen would not let her off the hook.

"Chen Xiaoran, you're insane!"

Before she could even confront her, Tan Ni slipped and fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

"What's wrong, Miss Tan?"

Meng Jiuyi immediately helped her up, "Where do you feel unwell?"

She didn't answer, her face was pale and she was having difficulty breathing. Meng Jiuyi was so frightened that he immediately called an ambulance.

What happened next happened in a flash; when a person is under extreme mental tension, even a long time can be stretched into seconds.

Seeing that someone might die, Chen Xiaoran had no choice but to let them leave. A bodyguard rushed into the private room and took Tan Ni away, and Meng Jiuyi immediately followed to the hospital.

The operating room lights came on, and Meng Jiuyi paced back and forth in the quiet corridor. Tears welled in her eyes, and self-blame and guilt almost overwhelmed her. She faced the wall in repentance and helplessly kowtowed.

She never imagined it would turn out like this, she never expected it!

She heard footsteps beside her and turned around to see Tan Yuchen rushing to the hospital.

The moment their eyes met, his gaze was colder than ever before, almost piercing.
