The light streaming in from the window illuminated his sharply defined face, a stark contrast to the gentle pressure on his hands, revealing a palpable melancholy in the man's expression.
Meng Jiuyi felt like her wrist was about to be crushed by him. What right did he have to question her like that?
"Tan Yuchen, I don't need to explain anything to you. There's no such clause in our deal at all!"
Her voice was cold as she deliberately distanced herself from him, "You suspected me that night, but it wasn't me at all. We had nothing but a business relationship. Aren't you being too nosy? Did I scheme against you for money or hurt your family? Is it worth you coming here to interrogate me like this?"
"What gives you the right to interfere? I'm after money, I'm after profit, this is between me and the person involved, what business is it of yours?"
Tan Yuchen's face darkened at her words. She was so gentle and considerate in front of others, but all she knew was how to stab him in the chest, didn't she?
"Tan Sheng still has the surname Tan in his name. Do you think that has anything to do with me? You're quick to cut ties and walk away, but he's stubborn and keeps threatening suicide at the orange grove every day. If he disturbs the rest of the family, of course I'll hold you accountable. As for Xu Yanzhi—"
He curved his lips slightly, but there was no smile in his eyes. "Putting aside the fact that he's my childhood friend, Tan Ni is simple-minded and can't keep things to herself. She's told you a lot how much she likes Xu Yanzhi. She treats you as her best friend, but what do you take her for? A tool or a stepping stone?"
"Tell me, as her brother, would I allow you to take what she loves?"
The man's smile vanished, and his already aggressive face became even more unpredictable.
The night air swept in, its coolness seeping into Meng Jiuyi's body, making her feel as if she had returned to the time when they first met.
She accidentally caused Tan Ni to fall ill, and he bared his fangs and threatened her wantonly. It turns out that their relationship had never changed from beginning to end.
In fact, if it weren't for today's unexpected event, her affair with Xu Yanzhi would have been a short-lived and forever hidden affair, and no one else would have ever known about it.
She is no longer the same as she was back then, but she still retains a sliver of naive fantasy.
At that moment, Meng Jiuyi stared blankly at him, and suddenly thought, quite inappropriately, that it was so good to have family.
It's not hers.
Tears welled up in her throat, but Meng Jiuyi squeezed them back down with his fingers. He thought of how he had cried not long ago because of those diamonds, but those things were cheaper than bricks to him.
She's a complete idiot.
Tan Yuchen looked into her eyes at close range and vaguely sensed something cooling down in her eyes, and then cooling down again.
She wasn't one to express her emotions; she usually kept herself firmly inside her shell. He went to great lengths to get her to peek out a little, fearing that someone might plot against her. Now, she had buried herself and her shell deep underground.
A sudden, inexplicable panic gripped him.
Before he could speak, Meng Jiuyi's tone was utterly calm, "If Third Young Master truly feels indignant for Tan Ni, why doesn't he go to Xu Yanzhi and expose how cunning I am? He could just have someone teach me a lesson, unless—"
She leaned closer to look at him and whispered, "Your real intentions are not what they seem?"
They were so close together, as if they had returned to that night when she was counting his eyebrows on his face, and Tan Yuchen's breathing became much heavier.
"You know what I want?"
"I know, you want—"
Meng Jiuyi's red lips curved slightly.
"I."
With a loud "thud," like a flood overflowing and rocks collapsing, amidst the clamor and noise, the scene was deafening.
Tan Yuchen's heartbeat had never been so clear.
So much so that even though he saw mostly teasing in her fox-like eyes and little genuine affection, he still soberly chose to trap himself in his own web.
He traced the shape of her lips with his finger, speaking casually.
"Knowing I want it, will you give it to me?"
"Give it to me, give it to me now!"
She was decisive and efficient, without any hesitation or fuss.
The grip on her had long since loosened, and Meng Jiuyi pushed him away and got up from the sofa.
In the large dressing room, the lights were off and the curtains were drawn. The dim light was enough to make each other see clearly. Meng Jiuyi turned on the lights directly, and the marble chandelier hanging from the ceiling was dazzling.
Before Tan Yuchen could react to what she was about to do, she had already removed the hair tie that was half-falling off her hair. His fingers had dug deep into it earlier, and now it was scattered like seaweed, almost growing past her shoulders.
The zipper at the back of the skirt was pulled all the way down, and the knee-length skirt was peeled off like a withered flower petal, revealing the snow-white tender stamen inside, without a single bit of excess fat.
Her waist-to-hip ratio is so perfect it's like an hourglass.
Her skin was as white as snow, and her face, as beautiful as an oil painting, was excessively pretty. She looked at him with a cold and indifferent expression.
If anyone else were to strip down to this extent, they would probably be blushing with shame and dying. She used to do the same, pretending to be strong on the outside but actually terrified on the inside.
Now she seems like a demoness who has never set foot in the human world, making extremely seductive gestures while feigning innocence in her eyes.
Tan Yuchen could clearly feel his breathing becoming heavier and heavier, and a bloodthirsty excitement surged through his blood.
He looked up at her, and as their eyes met, Meng Jiuyi clearly saw the desire in his eyes, direct and undisguised.
It's like a hungry wolf ready to pounce at any moment.
Everyone else was terrified and ran away, but Meng Jiuyi stepped on the carpet and walked up to him, sitting directly on his lap.
"Aside from the four million I spent finding people for you, and the one million I spent running errands for you and making you happy, you still have twenty-five million left with me. How much are you planning to offer to buy me?"
