Chapter 17: Lack of an Assistant
Ji Linshen withdrew his gaze and then looked at Lu Yannan: "Mr. Lu."
Lu Yannan put away his curiosity and smiled as he led the man to the negotiation room in his office: "Mr. Ji, welcome."
Lu Shiman didn't know whether she should follow and was hesitating. Lu Yannan looked back at her and motioned her to follow.
"Let's get started." Ji Linshen sat directly in the main seat in the negotiation room, crossed his legs, and waved to the secretary behind him to hand the documents to Lu Yannan.
Lu Yannan took the information and flipped through it quickly. The information contained detailed planning for the land in the east of the city and a preliminary plan for cooperation between the two parties.
There was nothing wrong with the entire information, but what Lu Yannan couldn't understand was why Ji Linshen directly chose the Lu family.
"The plan is very detailed, and the conditions for cooperation are very attractive." Lu Yannan closed the information and looked up at Ji Linshen.
"However, Mr. Ji, can you tell me why you chose the Lu family among so many competitors?"
Ji Linshen smiled indifferently, and his eyes inadvertently swept to Lu Shiman who was standing beside him: "In Jincheng, do I have any reason not to choose the Lu family?"
Feeling the gaze, Lu Shiman silently stepped back behind Lu Yannan, secretly glanced at his elder brother, and saw that he seemed to have no abnormal expression, and felt relieved.

Ji Linshen casually placed his hands on his legs, and his eyes met Lu Shiman's again. His eyes seemed to say "You can't hide away", then he retracted his gaze and formally answered Lu Yannan's question.

"Choosing the Lu family is undoubtedly a win-win decision."
The atmosphere in the negotiation room gradually became harmonious. Lu Shiman stood aside, trying to make himself inconspicuous.
Every time Ji Linshen said something, her heart trembled, for fear that the next sentence would say something like "Mr. Lu, I am your sister Lu Shiman's lover."
Sitting next to Lu Yannan, she felt uneasy, but she didn't dare to stare at Ji Linshen for a long time, for fear that someone would notice something.
After a long time, the two seemed to have reached some kind of consensus. Lu Yannan smiled and extended his hand: "Mr. Ji, it's a pleasure to work with you."
Ji Linshen stretched out his hand and shook it, nodded and smiled, and his eyes fell on Lu Shiman again: "It's a pleasure to work with you."
Seeing the two of them finish their remarks, Lu Shiman's heart finally settled down.
Lu Yannan and Ji Linshen walked out of the negotiation room chatting and laughing.
Just when Lu Shiman thought that the matter was over, Ji Linshen suddenly stopped.
"Mr. Lu, I just arrived in Jincheng and I am currently short of staff. I think Miss Lu is very professional. How about we bear the pain and let Miss Lu come here to help me?" Ji Linshen smiled, his amber eyes staring at Lu Shiman.
Lu Yannan lowered his eyelashes to hide the emotions in his eyes, but still had a gentle smile on his face.
"Mr. Ji, you're joking. My sister doesn't know anything about business. She just graduated and is still by my side, working as my assistant and learning."
This is equivalent to a polite refusal.
He had also heard about Ji Linshen's methods and deeds, so naturally he didn't want Lu Shiman to get involved.
After all, his sister only has a brain, but it is empty inside. If Ji Lin really takes notice of her, there will probably be nothing left of her.
"That's okay. I just happen to be in need of an assistant. With Mr. Lu's guidance, I'm definitely better than most people." Ji Linshen's tone was light, but it revealed a strong determination that could not be questioned: "Besides, you can learn more by my side."
"Are you right, Miss Lu?"
Lu Yannan's smile remained unchanged upon hearing this, but his tone became just as tough: "Boss Ji, she just graduated and needs more time to gain experience here with me. I'm afraid she won't be able to be your assistant for the time being. I hope Boss Ji can understand."
Lu Shiman stood aside, her palms slightly sweating, her heart in turmoil, afraid that Ji Linshen would not give in.
She secretly glanced at Ji Linshen and saw that he still had that faint smile on his face, but his eyes were a little deeper, as if he was thinking about something.
"Mr. Lu loves my sister very much, but I think that for matters like this, we should seek the opinions of the parties involved, right?" The words were said with a smile, but to Lu Shiman, they sounded like a naked threat.
Everyone else had gone out, and there were only three of them left in the office.
Lu Shiman stood behind, Ji Linshen and Lu Yannan stood in front of her on her left and right respectively, all with their eyes on her.
Her mind was a mess. If she agreed, her future would be uncertain.
If she doesn't agree, she feels like there might be no future for them.
"Miss Lu, what's your choice?" Ji Linshen adjusted his tie, his amber eyes filled with a playful and determined smile.
"Brother, I think..." Lu Shiman swallowed. She must not let her family know that she was deeply related to Ji Lin.
She paused, then continued: "I think what Mr. Ji said makes sense. I can indeed learn a lot from being around him."
As soon as she said this, Ji Lin let out a deep laugh from his throat: "Ms. Lu, you are very good at making decisions."
Lu Yannan's face darkened instantly. He wanted to say something, but considering Ji Linshen's identity, he could only politely remind him, "You didn't sleep well last night, and your mind is not clear. Reply to Mr. Ji when you are sober."
"In that case, I'll wait for Miss Lu's reply." Ji Linshen didn't insist. After giving Lu Shiman a meaningful glance, he turned and left.
After everyone left, Lu Yannan got angry.
"Lu Shiman! Do you know who he is? Can you think before you speak?"
"I know who he is. I saw him at Grandma Ji's birthday party last time." Lu Shiman lowered his head and didn't look at Lu Yannan's expression.
"Hehe, should I praise you for having a good memory? Do you remember how I reminded you that night?" Lu Yannan laughed in anger.
"You...you said he was dangerous and told me not to mess with him."
"It seems you still remember it. I thought you ignored my words." Lu Yannan took a deep breath and softened his tone: "He is too dangerous. It will not be good for you to get involved with him."
"Brother will help you reject it this afternoon, so don't get involved." Lu Yannan was determined not to let his sister enter the wolf's den.
Lu Shiman immediately shook her head: "No, brother, I really want to go." She dared to guarantee that if her brother said that he would not go, the man would say that he was his lover.
"Why?"
Lu Shiman swallowed his saliva and said, "He's good-looking, and he wants to cooperate with us. I can just infiltrate the enemy."
"Brother, don't worry. If he hurts me, I will run away."
"Can't escape?"
"Then I will die."
