Chapter 496 Closing Remarks
The main story officially ends here.
Looking back, this book was much longer than I expected.
When I first started writing, I thought I could finish the story in 500,000 words.
But as I wrote, the characters in my works came to life little by little.
They broke free from my preset framework and grew fuller flesh and blood, and more lively souls.
Really, I’m not lying to you.
On several occasions, I even actually dreamed about them.
I dreamed of Manman’s smile, Ji Linshen’s paranoid tenderness, and my brothers’ different forms of protection.
Those dreams were as clear as if they were personal experiences.
Many of the plots were not written by me.
It's more like they pushed me, pulled me, and let the story flow along the trajectory of their own choosing.
For example, when Xiao Ji was confessing in the car and was vulnerable, I didn't originally want Manman to turn over and press him down so fiercely, grab his chin and kiss him forcefully, but my fingers were tapping on the keyboard, and when I came to my senses, the kiss had already landed with great force.
As if that was how it should be at that moment.
And after Manman got beaten, in the third brother's house, the eldest brother said something that caught me off guard and made my eyes warm: "You often fell asleep leaning on me, and you grew up leaning on me like this..."
The moment I wrote this, my heart felt like it was gently hit by something.
Even now, when I write this, my nose still feels sore.
My eldest brother Lu Yannan satisfies all my most beautiful fantasies about the word brother.
His responsibility is as great as the sea, and his omnipresent protection and love are what I poured a lot of love into shaping.
Manman's experience is shaped by reality.
Some are from my own experiences, some are from what I have heard, and some are from my friends.
The four words "preferring sons to daughters" are like an old scar. Even today, they still stubbornly exist in some corners. In fact, I often think that it would be better if I were a boy.
I saw some babies sharing their stories in the comment section, those confessions were filled with scars.
Every time I see it, my heart feels heavy.
I really want to say something, want to give even a little comfort, but I feel that words are too pale.
I can only hope that this article can bring you a little bit of strength and warmth.
Finally, what I want to say most is thank you.
Thank you for following along all the way.
Thank you to everyone who stayed up late at night to update.
Thank you for every thoughtful comment and discussion, thank you for urging for updates, complaints, resonance, and gifts.
It is you who make this story no longer a solitary battle of mine, but a journey of shared experience and shared expectations.
Your company is the greatest motivation that supports me to finish writing this long chapter.
Although the story is over, Lu Shiman, Ji Linshen, Lu Yannan, Lu Chixu, Lu Jianheng, Lu Qiyun, Qin Jiaojiao, Huo Beiyan, Xie Yi...
They will continue to live a chaotic yet warm and happy life in the world we have built together.
I hope that we in reality can all find our own warmth and protection.
The road ahead is long, see you in the next story!
Love your authors!
I will start writing the extra chapter tomorrow. I have seen all the wishes made by the babies, and I will write everything I can. I will not apply for completion until the extra chapter is finished.
There are still some babies who are waiting to finish reading. I hope those who read this will go to the beginning and kick them, because the main text is finished.
See you in the sequel~
The extra chapters will be updated two chapters a day, as usual.
See you there, my dear readers~
