Extra: Lu Yannan & Pei Mo Ning (11)

Extra: Lu Yannan & Pei Mo Ning (11)

Dinner is over.

Pei Mo Ning waved to the waiter to pay the bill.

Lu Yannan watched her movements quietly, his fingers tapping the table unconsciously, but he did not stop her.

The bill arrived and the number stopped at two thousand eight.

Pei Mo Ning paid the bill as usual and put the receipt into his bag with smooth movements.

She stood up and looked at Lu Yannan: "Let's go, Mr. Lu, the driver should take you home."

Lu Yannan laughed when he heard that, stood up, and pulled out a chair for her: "Thank you."

There is something hidden in the smile that only the other party understands.

The car merged back into the city streets.

Sitting in the driver's seat, Pei Mo Ning reached out and turned on the car audio.

Almost instantly, a deep and soothing male voice enveloped the entire space, and the prelude spread with a night-like texture.

It's "Easily".

The low melody is like an invisible hand, caressing the tense nerves.

“Don't you tell me that it wasn't meant to be...”

Lu Yannan's chest shook violently.

The clear bass seemed not to come from the speakers, but hit his heart directly, heavy and irresistible.

An indescribable feeling of swelling quickly filled my entire chest, and every heartbeat was as clear as a classical music.

He suddenly felt his throat tighten.

Pei Mo Ning didn't expect that this song would be the first one to appear when he turned on the phone. His fingers gripping the steering wheel curled up slightly.

It seemed like I was hinting at something to him.

Although, she did keep hinting at something.

Looking ahead, Pei Mo Ning seemed completely immersed in driving.

A subtle silence fell in the car.

Only the song "Easily" was humming softly, like an undercurrent in the night.

Outside the window, colorful neon lights flowed rapidly, and flickering light and shadows passed over the outlines of the two people.

The air was slightly heavy, and the scent of each other diffused in the small compartment, silently intertwining.

The car finally stopped in front of the grand gate of the Lu family villa.

The engine hummed softly, sounding particularly clear in the silent night.

Pei Mo Ning turned his head and looked at Lu Yannan.

The warm yellow corridor light outlines her delicate profile.

"We're home." Her voice was filled with the ease of someone who had completed a task, and a smile crept back into her eyes. "Are you satisfied with the service you received from me, an amateur driver, today?"

She cleverly used the word "service" to cut through the invisible atmosphere.

Lu Yannan's Adam's apple moved slightly, suppressing the strong resonance in his heart.

He met her gaze, his voice steady but his gaze deep: "Very satisfied, the car is stable."

He paused, his eyes scanning the direction of the speakers: "The song... is also good."

Pausing again, Lu Yannan seemed to be considering: "People..."

Pei Mo Ning blinked slightly, as if waiting patiently for the second half of his speech.

Lu Yannan felt the temperature behind his ears rising.

He quickly unbuckled his seat belt, and a click broke the silence.

As he opened the car door, he quickly completed the second half of the sentence: "Everyone...be careful on your way home."

The awkwardness of his turns was noticeable, completely different from his usual calm demeanor.

Pei Mo Ning looked at his almost hurried back and finally couldn't help but laughed softly.

The laughter was clear and melodious, clearly seeing through his hidden feelings.

Lu Yannan had already stepped one foot out of the car door.

Pei Mo Ning behind him suddenly called out to him: "Wait."

He stopped, half of his body outside the car, and looked back at her, asking, "Doctor Pei have any other instructions?"

Pei Mo Ning took out a small blue velvet bag from the armrest box and handed it to him: "My tranquilizing incense is almost gone."

Her tone was natural, as if she was just sharing: "I guess it's time for yours to be renewed."

She looked up at him and teased him with a kind smile, "So that Mr. Lu wouldn't be embarrassed to ask, I'll take the initiative to offer it to you."

Lu Yannan took the small velvet bag with a delicate touch and twisted it between his fingers.

The bag carried the faint fragrance of her car, like a mark of tenderness.

He chuckled, his eyes locked on her face, and changed the subject: "Pei Mo Ning, have you sent flowers?"

Pei Mo Ning raised his eyebrows and answered frankly: "I received it, but I didn't send it."

Lu Yannan tightened the bag in his pocket, his movements calm and composed. “I thought you learned this trick from the saying, ‘When a flower dies, keep one; when the flower dies, give a new one.’ ”

Pei Mo Ning tilted his head slightly, a tacit light in his eyes: "Same purpose?"

Lu Yannan nodded and took out a flat black velvet box from the inside pocket of his suit.

The box is not big, but the texture is excellent.

He handed it to her: "Reciprocity?"

Pei Mo Ning's heart skipped a beat and she reached out to take it: "Sharing what we have?" She agreed with him.

The moment you open the lid, a fountain pen with a simple and neat design lies quietly in the velvet lining.

The platinum cap and dark blue resin body exude a calm luster, understated luxury, and every curve is just right, obviously worth a fortune.

More importantly, special.

This is not the style you buy in bulk over the counter.

Pei Mo Ning's eyes suddenly lit up, and he looked up at him with a smile: "That's thoughtful."

It seemed that he noticed that her office pen had run out of ink and jammed in the middle of writing today.

Seeing her affection, Lu Yannan felt a slight relief from the swelling in his heart, and simply responded, "Mutually."

He wasn't just referring to incense.

Pei Mo Ning closed the pencil case and held it carefully in his hand.

"Then..." She spoke again, her voice brisk, carrying the promise of the weekend: "See you on Saturday, Lu Yannan."

Lu Yannan also looked at her. Her eyes were bright in the night.

"See you on Saturday." He responded clearly, with a certain confirmation: "Pei Mo Ning."

The two full names were exchanged in the quiet night, like a code that only the two of them knew what it unlocked.

This is more meaningful than any farewell.

The car door was finally closed tightly.

Pei Mo Ning watched Lu Yannan's tall figure walk steadily towards the entrance of the villa before starting the car again.

The song "Easily" was played on repeat again.

"...But won't you do something for me..."

“Call it quits…”

“Call it destiny...”

She picked up the pen case on the passenger seat, an uncontrollable smile on her lips.

The light from the street lamp passed across her cheek, illuminating the joyful light deep in her eyes.

With a turn of the steering wheel, the car slipped lightly into the darkness of the night.

Lu Yannan walked to the entrance and paused.

He did not push the door open immediately, but stood in the shadow where light and shadow met and looked back.

The car had just driven away, its taillights drawing two short red lines in the night, and quickly disappeared around the corner.

He withdrew his gaze, pushed the door open and stepped into the brightly lit living room.

Behind him, the heavy door of the villa slowly closed, completely isolating the lingering faint fragrance outside the two doors from the night.
