Extra: Lu Yannan & Pei Mo Ning (9)
Pei Mo Ning tightened his hands on the table slightly, as if he could feel the weight of that gaze.
She didn't answer immediately, but met that gaze, took a step forward, and stood in the clearer light.
Her smile was still gentle, but there was a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Clearly and without flinching, she threw the responsibility back: "Why are you asking me about this?" Her voice was low, but every word was clear: "It's clearly you, Mr. Lu, who has been keeping me stuck in the position of 'Miss Pei'."
Lu Yannan watched her approach, and saw the cunning yet calm light in her eyes.
Like a stone thrown into a deep pool, it creates ripples.
The light and shadow flowing in the clinic seemed to have quieted down.
A few seconds later, his deep voice sounded again, less playful and more serious, probing: "Then...call me Pei Mo Ning, is that okay?"
Her full name had a strange magnetism and weight in his mouth.
It sounds really nice.
Pei Mo Ning raised his head, his eyes fixed on his without blinking, as if he was giving a diagnosis with the utmost concentration: "Yes."
Then, she also called out the name clearly and solemnly: "Lu Yannan."
No longer 'Lu Zong'.
Simple name.
Lu Yannan.
Pei Mo Ning.
The two full names collided clearly in the quiet air of the clinic.
The invisible barriers suddenly melted away.
A direct and deep connection is quietly established as they call each other.
Their eyes met.
Neither of them spoke immediately.
The sunlight outside the window shifted its angle, and new bands of light shone obliquely on the two people.
The aroma of plants lingering in the air seemed to become clearer, and seemed to warm up along with my mood.
Suddenly.
Pei Mo Ning was the first to curl the corners of his lips.
Lu Yannan saw the pure smile in her eyes, which was like a key that instantly opened his tightly pursed lips.
A genuine smile slowly spread across his face.
The smile melted the fatigue between his brows and lit up the glimmer in his eyes.
The two were a few steps apart, their faces clearly reflected in each other's eyes, with a knowing smile on their lips.
All temptations and boundaries are transformed into dust in the smile without any need for further explanation.
Lu Yannan grasped the door handle, turned it, and stepped out of the clinic with his long legs.
Pei Mo Ning's eyes followed his back, his tall silhouette briefly outlined in the light of the corridor.
Just when she thought he would leave, Lu Yannan suddenly stopped.
He didn't turn his head, but just turned his shoulder slightly, and said in a voice that left no room for argument: "That night, the driver must remember to pick me up."
It seemed as if he was just confirming an ordinary arrangement.
Pei Mo Ning's heart suddenly stopped, and then began beating faster.
She smiled slightly: "I will be there on time."
After getting her promise, Lu Yannan continued walking and his figure disappeared neatly around the corner of the corridor.
......
Howard Johnson Tower.
Lu Yannan pushed the door open and walked into his office, then paused.
A familiar figure was curled up on the sofa.
Lu Chixu supported his chin with one hand and browsed his mobile phone with the other. When he heard the door open, he looked up suddenly and stood up.
"Brother!" Lu Chixu's voice was filled with uncontrollable anxiety, and he walked a few steps to the center of the office.
There was an abnormal redness around his eyes, as if he had rubbed them hard, which ruined the elegance of his handsome face.
Lu Yannan glanced at him, said nothing, walked straight to the coat rack, took off his suit jacket and hung it up carefully.
He unbuttoned two buttons of his white shirt, revealing his delicate collarbone. He walked to the bar, took a glass and poured himself a glass of water.
He didn't answer Lu Chixu's question first, but raised his head and took a sip of water.
The Adam's apple slid along the slender neck line.
Lu Chixu's eyes were fixed on him.
Putting down the cup, Lu Yannan turned to his brother and said calmly, "It's basically confirmed. It matches what Ji Linshen and I described."
He paused. "But where is the core problem and how to best intervene? Doctor Pei said I have to go in person."
Lu Chixu's eyebrows immediately knitted together, and he asked anxiously, "What should we do? Should we coax Manman to go? Or..." His eyes flickered, "How about just tie her up and go?"
Lu Yannan almost laughed out of anger and rolled his eyes without any hesitation: "I want to tie you up and throw you in there right now, and use you as a control group."
He walked to his desk and sat down, flipping through the documents at hand: "Find an opportunity to let them meet."
Lu Chixu nodded seriously, "Okay."
But he had no intention of leaving and still stood by Lu Yannan's table.
Lu Yannan picked up the pen and began to annotate the document without even looking up.
After a few minutes, he found that Lu Chixu not only did not leave, but instead leaned back on the sofa, crossed his legs and continued to browse his phone.
Lu Yannan finally raised his eyes and glanced over, frowning: "Are you not leaving yet?" His voice was not loud, but it was like ice: "Waiting for me to treat you to afternoon tea? Or waiting for me to feed you dinner?"
Lu Chixu looked up from his phone screen and blinked, as if he had discovered a new world: "Brother, are these two...ok?"
Lu Yannan put the pen on the table and said three words coldly: "No."
He raised his hand and pointed to the door: "Go wherever you want to cool down, don't get in my way."
Upon hearing this, Lu Chixu not only did not leave, but stood up again.
He walked over to Lu Yannan's desk, put his hands on the table, and leaned over: "Brother, it's been a long time since we had a moment together."
"When it's just the two of us, without those three troublemakers...would you like to take some time out tonight to treat your dearest brother to a meal?"
Lu Yannan said nothing, just leaned back in his chair, folded his arms across his chest, and looked at him quietly, with a silent order of expulsion in his dark eyes.
Lu Chixu's smile remained unchanged when he was looked at by him. He even tapped the table with his fingers: "Brother? Don't just look at me... say something."
Lu Yannan snorted softly from his nose, his eyes scrutinizing him: "Isn't my silence deafening enough?"
“Oh…” Lu Chixu spread his hands with a look of regret: “You know, my eyesight isn’t very good, and I can’t hear.”
He leaned closer, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "I finally caught you alone, this is a rare opportunity. How about a date? Dinner?"
Lu Yannan said simply and clearly: "I'm busy."
Lu Chixu's smile fell for a moment, then stubbornly stuck to it again.
He didn't say anything else, just shrugged, walked back to the sofa, sat down heavily, took out his cell phone, and looked like he was not leaving unless you agree.
Lu Yannan withdrew his gaze expressionlessly and picked up the document again, as if there was no other person in the office.
The only sounds in the air were the rustling of papers and the occasional tap of Lu Chixu on the screen.
The twilight outside the window gradually settled, the city lights came on, and the floor-to-ceiling window turned into a dazzling galaxy.
Lu Yannan pinched his brows and closed the last document.
The private cell phone on the desktop lit up, and the screen displayed: Pei Mo Ning.
